    Changes for monk basically revert them back to optimal pre-Dawntrail rotation. The reason Snap Punch/Pouncing Coeurl is lower than True Strike/Rising Raptor is because you get two of the former vs one of the latter. You'll end up using Twin Snakes way more than Demolish so theoretically the damage should even out to Coeurl Form being slightly more damage overall.

    Well, getting Umbral Soul at 35 is an awesome change for roulettes. Kind of surprised we didn't see the thunder changes too though, since it's rework-ish. Oh well.

    In response to Directional Disregard, coming from a software engineer's standpoint, they likely took True North and "inverted it" (as in debuff on target instead of buff on source). It simplifies the code changes, as well as puts everything into a single point of code when/if future adjustments are needed.

      - blablabla we are going to experiment
      - useless normals patch
      - random bs go Savage patch with 1 or 2 broken Jobs( you either play both on week1 or enjoy dps checks, looking at you mnk and blm in eden 1-4)
      - classic "Ye but at the end of the expansion Jobs are balanced"
      In two weeks they didn't even work, Just give blm some potency and fix picto, was It so hard to put 100 potency on flare star?
      Why Is selfish viper under suboptimal reaper gameplay?

      With job changes, they purposely DONT make big buffs until after savage. Or even some ones on the savage patch.
      Because if they reacted right away and put a buff without thought…
      Then we see how that turns out with Oporot Monk being actually broken.

      @@scottishboy112 They put out half the jobs without thought already. They should be balancing around crafted / savage BiS. I mean dude this is a decade into the game and they released monk and BLM in this state lol. The game is relatively balanced but with the mass homogenization something that can seem small is actually a huge difference.
      People always compare it to WoW but in WoW the game is not homogenized and promotes class stacking with 20 players. They are not the same games.

    Maybe its an unpopular take, but I really enjoy the MNK changes for DT... I never enjoyed the flow of MNK in EW. I didn't enjoy having to constantly babysit the damage buff and the DoT. The job feels very similar, but much more fun to play now.

      @@docsigma i know that's supposed to be a joke but i don't think that would be a bad thing? It shows BLMs are complaining because it's ass to play. I'd happily play it if it was just undertuned and FUN. I've played BLM in week1 aspho in savage when it did less dmg then RDM/SMN because they underestimated the Raidbuff changes and SAM/BLM/MCH were all super bad... but it's boring and undertuned, which makes it very hard to justify not just swapping to RDM (same dmg while bringing rez unless you parse 95+) or Picto (~5 to 10% more dmg while bringing some heals and shields for party).
      Not to mention its waaaaay easier to find parties as RDM/SMN/Picto because people don't kick/ban those from PF.

    The viper positional changes were said to be for 7.05 in the message we got before the patch. The same message also mentioned that they would increase the range in 7.01.

    The Black Mage change needs to happen to many jobs, but for roulette reasons. Especially jobs like Viper or Reaper are game uninstall levels of bad when downscaled. Ok, maybe a little facetious, but it's still true, it feels so bad to get anything under level 80 with either of them.

      Reapers rotation at lvl 50 is even simpler than other jobs rotations at lvl 30. It's literally 1 2 3, a debuff and one ogcd. It's so boring

      its why i refuse to run roulettes anymore, i put 25,000 hours into working on my character... i don't care how much exp they give you're not getting me to sync down to level fucking 15 to get sastasha in leveling roulette and play with, for some jobs, ONE SINGLE FKING BUTTON. but even the 1 button jobs aside, NO job is close to functional compared to it's lvl 90 form that low and it feels absolutely awful

      I would love, at a very basic level, them to rejig all jobs to give everyone their basic AoE skill by the sync point for Sastasha. It'd be a huge QoL upgrade for those early roulettes.

    For the curious, before this patch, in any content that you had Masterful Blitz before level 86 ((where Flint Strike becomes Rising Phoenix)) it would be a 150 potency loss to perform all three Masterful Blitz. It was immensely more beneficial to spam 800 potency Elixir Fields instead, especially considering we lost buff and debuff management that enticed us into Solar Nadi.

      @@SteveSmith-br3vu You're punished by doing less damage. Even if it doesn't feel like a significant amount, it's important that there is room for players to optimise in which they're rewarded. Personally I enjoy trying to hit all my positionals, even when mechanics make it difficult - or at the very least optimising my usage of true north.

    15:48 - For some reason, Asphodelos had an item level requirement that was 10 more than it normally should have. Some folks must have been extrapolating forward from that.

    3:10 ruination smuggling. You’d hit rend right before the buff fills off and have ruination buff just long enough to sneak it into 2min/pot windows. But you would also have to delay IR a gcd or 2 to make sure it was worth it

    The Viper notes has a bit of a typo, they buffed Legacy skill ranges, instead of Generations. So now all single target ogcd's are with increased range.

    I hope dragoon is very slightly less busy. Just remove life surge or even better mirage dive. I worry about 2 minutes during mechanic heavy moments or needing to somehow add in a arms length or sprint while weaving everything in 20 seconds

    I'm still weirded out about Monk's AoE rotation, since the AoE moves don't benefit from fury stacks at all there is no reason to use single target moves like DK, Demolish or Twin snakes in that regard. Since all those do is buff your single target moves it feels super weird to just sit on those stacks when you have multiple enemies around you. And you'd have to do a lot of math to figure out if its even worth it to use single target moves in conjunction with your AoE's or not.
    If they were just going to buff the AoE's they should have just as well given them the stacks of fury potency buff instead. That way getting the stacks during a pull would make for an interesting gameplay decision.

    0:50 its funny but when i saw the patchnotes for job changes i was like "no whitemage changes ... thanks" and i mean it like that xD if there is nothing that need to be change it makes no sense to change something just for the note that something got changed ... for me as whitemage main the job is fine ... at the same time havnt played any other healer since dawntrail so i cant compare them for this patch

    The thing about the monk rotation changes, I recall them saying in the Dawntrail job announcements that monk's rotation wasn't going to change, too. So it really stunk of the people developing the job not actually playing the job. So the adjustments to the beast charkas looks like fixing that mess up.
    But even if I remember incorrectly, I'm glad to have the old rotation back... just now to figure out how to keep the rotation going the way I remember once you throw perfect balance into the mix.

      SAME I had the beast gauge as big as I could make it right in the middle of my screen too to help me see what I needed to do and still wasn't getting it right.
      Though now playing with it, perfect balance can still mess with the rotation we were used to, unless I'm timing it wrong? Or unless you just want to say "screw it" and over cap on some of the beast chakras

    Whm main here not understanding how come some people are saying whm's dead. For each 2 ast extreme clears recorded of fflogs, there's 5 of those on whm. Even if the changes to ast are insanely good, that's not gonna kill whm; people play whm because it's simple and straightforward yet still strong in uncoordinated environments.

      Idk WHM main here and I'm eating good this expansion. The other thing that astro complain and they get whatever they want, even if their gameplay is a bloated mess, and sage has everything any healer can dream of. But current whm is amazing, people just don't know what they want.

    Honestly, I only play tanks, so I'm not knowledgeable about much else, but Gunbreaker and Warrior are really great spots. Warrior didn't really need the potency boost. Dark knight and Paladin bothe need some potency boosts to catch up to War and Gnb, though. Paladin is especially I'm a terrible spot compared to the other 3, and because of the lack of self sustain for Drk... again, it should definitely not be losing out to war on damage at all.

    Making Shadowstride and Trajectory produce enmity when used just underlines how unnecessary removing the damage of their gap closers have been, I mean dark knight's enhanced unmend was designed specifically to be proactive with balancing its use as a damage tool and a movement tool with limited drawbacks due to the extra charges.
    They basically reinvented Gladiator's Old Flash move. In gapcloser form.
    The animation's are cool though, but if you can't do damage, we aught to be able to target allies too.
    Bottom line however, the damage you gained from them was pretty small so it doesn't really matter whether they removed them or not.
    It just feels like they're putting more work into changing them than it would had been if they had just left them entirely alone.

    Good rule of thumb is to progress the normal mode storyline to the point the normal/savage gear vendor unlocks and then check out the pieces. I went into it knowing for example that hands, ring and neck are the best Scouting gear slots stats wise so it made it an easy pick. It was made even easier by the fact of most of it kinda sucking for Scouting stats wise so i may have to pick up quite a few crafted pieces.

    I think the longer SAM casts were to force a fillerless rotation in full uptime while still allowing for a clean loop, probably, which *was* the effect of them. Although it could also have been the animations.
    Still huffing hopium on wanting them to decouple Meikyo and Tsubame. But we'd need another way to buff Tendo if that were the case, like some kind of button to press before Midare or something. The could call it... Kaiten? :P

      EDIT: I'll explain in more detail. Meikyo and Tsubame being linked together limits how Samurai can burst. We can no longer, for instance, do things like:
      Jinpu --> Gekko --> Hakaze --> Midare/Tendo --> Yukikaze --> Higanbana
      This doesn't affect the looping rotation, which is now the same as it is in Endwalker after today's changes (plus the extra weaves from Zanshin and one-minute Senei), but it greatly limits ad hoc play and makes it much less worthwhile in full uptime.
      Even if Tsubame and Meikyo were decoupled from each other, though, in functional terms, we'd want to do our rotation no differently because Meikyo also now gives Tendo, and we would never want to waste a Tsubame charge on a normal Midare.
      As such, to restore our Endwalker-era flexibility, it would be necessary to have a separate button to give the Tendo buff so that we could (more flexibly) use Meikyo to align things with buffs without doing filler GCDs.
      While my Kaiten comment was meant to be to some degree tongue-in-cheek, there's no reason why this couldn't be Kaiten with a new, different effect. It could have a one minute CD or something, you could use it before Midare, and it could transform your next Midare into Tendo Setsugekka. It could even transform into Tsubame to prevent added button bloat.
      I doubt that's what they'll do even if they do end up listening to all us complaining Samurai mains, but it would be one legitimate solution if they decide this is a problem.

    I still think AST should've gotten a MP reduction on like Fall Malefic or something. The job is still struggling for MP the most out of the healers due to the mana gain being on Astral Draw which starts on cooldown. If you have to rez someone you're just SOL compared to say SGE who could be sitting on 2 Addersgall to fill back up or WHM having Thin Air to just simply not pay for the rez in the first place.

    For AST, I still would like them to group the cards better, the dmg cards are together, but the defense and healing cards are mixed and I think it would make it more intuitive if they were set up the same as the dmg cards

      @@alloounou6900 right now Play 1 has both damage cards, while Play 2 has increased recovery (heals) and reduced damage (defense), and Play 3 has barrier (defense) and heals over time (heals), so 1 has all dmg, but 2 and 3 are mixed, which is why I mentioned it would be better if they consolidated the cards 1 all dmg, and I don’t know 2 defense and 3 heals or viceversa

    Really hoping they increase the duration of Noxious Gnash for Viper, I feel like 40 seconds it just a tad to short for double Reawaken windows, I find unless I refresh the duration back to 40 seconds right before going into 2 minutes, I can't get through everything before it falls off, and even then, its still super tight on timing.

    I didn't mind them changing monk to do 3 snap punches for every 1 demolish, what I think was the actual problem was doing 1 rear positional per 3 flank positionals. It just meant you spent 90% of the time desperately trying to hit nothing but flanks

      It's a total nerf to how warriors were playing. It's like Happy said they were banking Primal Ruinations to get two off in every 2 minute windows. With the changes they'll only get one. They went from 740 × 2 = 1480 total potency to 780 total potency in burst windows in regards to Primal Ruination usage.

      @@shinon748 This is a bad way of thinking about it. Firstly, you're not losing a GCD. The GCD is getting replaced with something else. So 740 potency minus the potency of the ability taking its place is the actual loss. But, that's exclusively under buffs, not your total dps, so secondly, you're not losing a use of primal ruination, it's just getting placed outside of buffs. So your loss would be the buffed/tincture potency of primal ruination minus 740.
      You're still getting two primal ruinations, you're just switching the place of a filler GCD into buffs with a primal ruination out of buffs. It is a loss, but it's really minor. For parsing it's exclusively that you're losing a grand total of ONE primal ruination under tincture, and it's replaced with a filler gcd. So 40 potency is a pretty accurate amount of potency to give it I'd imagine.

    Black mage: This was a very much needed change. Now Umbral Soul lines up with Aspect Mastery 3. Good natural place to put it.
    Monk: I like. I never mained monk, but I did sort of get the 2:2:3 to some degree of muscle memory
    Viper: that extra step of range on the oGCDs is very nice
    Astro: This is pretty big. Light speed is just hugely broken. I’m going to have to tweak my hot bars a bit to make it be in a spot I look at more often
    Picto: I know some people will dislike the loss of this non-standard optimization, but it was a bug to begin with, and it isn’t a massive loss in potency(unless the fight were to drag on for like 30 minutes, but name for me an individual encounter that realistically reached that amount of uptime)

      BLMs MP cost are not really important, considering we can fully regen MP to 100% by casting two skills. Even if you lowered the MP cost of Fire 4, it wouldn't change the rotation, since all remaining MP are eaten up by Despair and with the Enochian timer you can't really fit more Fire 4's into it even if you had the MP. All they can do is adjusting potencies.

      Same here. I've yet to see a single actual complain, besides it being boring, which is absolutely subjective and not really that much of a pain poit since first, it's the most simple healer of the 4 by design, and second, if someone finds it that much boring because of it... you still have three other healers to choose from.

    I just hit some striking dummies with MNK and, it looks to me, like potency on AOE's has gone back to 3 targets is the plus margin. It also looks like, with the change to opo only coming after 1 full rotation, once you get the opo Fury, you'll go dragon to bootshine then into normal rotation. Just my first impression. We'll see.

      Perfect balance is formless, boot>DK>boot still works there. Lunar should always buffed bootshine into dk into bootshine. Bootshine and it's replacement are still strongest in the combo due in part to the guaranteed crit off dk buff. This Lunar PB guarantees two crits and therefore two chakra balls on top of the elixir field, which also grants formless that you can pump into DK and then start PB again for Solar using the now buffed bootshine. The job will still be oporot for the most part, any formless fist will likely still be best used on opo. The fix is that you can't do a DK to fill opo ball outside of the normal combo flow now.

      For clarity, Opo form abilities are still what you want to use for your Lunar Nadi. What *has* changed, though, is what a lot of people in the theorycrafting community were referring to as DK+Bootshine or BootDK, which was inserting a no-form DK after Bootshine and before your Raptor form ability, since DK didn't need a form to grant its buff. *That's* what's gone.

    ok viper skill range is very very nice, I pray they dont make it "less busy" because its not even that busy, just removing positionals might fix the minor issues the class has but the extra range might make it feel more comfortable
    ... then again people did push for the classes to be in the sorry as heck state they are in where they all feels super similar with next to no variation or class identity
    people don't seem to understand just because YOU don't like the class doesn't mean it should be trashed so you enjoy it just play something else ffs, its why we lost summoner as a DOT class now we have no dot class atall and this mess that summoner is gettign remade from the ground up every expac, I dont like dot classes but not having one for people who do like them is just bad design -.-

    22:45 I feel like this should've waited if not had the opposite change applied to the other 4 zones. Doing FATEs in say Memory is a pain because you will have all 3 instances with 60+ people so you have to constantly hop around trying to avoid the other groups instantly clearing out all the FATEs.

    I have played 7.0 WHM in both extremes and I have played Astro and the only thing Astro has over WHM is dmg buffs. The WHM slander is getting out of hand when they bring just as much as astro to the table through consistency. White mage works half as hard as astro to heal through most situations and is overall easier to play as well. I raid in party finder so I personally will want a WHM over an astro any day. Stop the slander.

    Fully adressing some many issues while leaving BLMs at the lower part of the dps chart and just changing the umbral soul in the raid introduction patch is the latest in this chain of kicks in the nuts, that's just ignoring they created a class that does everything better, has multiple raid utility spells while also dealing more damage and on top of it being way more forgiving. What were they thinking? Also I don't know what's with the monk that they routinely break it almost every expansion

    The monk changes are dumb, the class has been stagnant for 10 years and instead of expnading it and giving it a fresh coat of paint, they revert it to the same old rotation.
    Every other class evolves and all this class gets is maybe an extra ability on a burst cd while six sided star should have been worked into the rotation to break up the boring 123-456 bullshit.
    The fact warrior DPS gets buffed over paladin and DRK despite being the most survivable tank is just so unbelievably dumb.

    They didnt even fully fix the nonstandard picto tech. they need to increase the duration of aetherhues as well because picto has so many filler skills that we dont even need to click off a buff that we can just wait out the timer for by painting for 30 seconds straight, happens even by accident sometimes.

      @@peekatyou7315for the balance of the game the dps is not irrelevant. Before picto, blm did damage and brought nothing else to the table. So for it to be relevant it has to do the most damage of the casters. Rdm and smn both brought party buff and Ressurections. So they do less damage than blm because they have other uses that make them relevant. Then we get picto. It has the most damage+a party buff. So picto took blm position as highest dps and also brings a party buff. Not to mention far more movement than blm. The amount of advantages it has is insane.
      Also to build off the because you enjoy the job I know a few blm mains that hate how they butchered the job. And there’s plenty of complaints about it else where.

      @@aphilli97 Give Power Strike back, so you rotate between that and soul eater. Halve the cd of carve and speed or separate the cd between it and abyssal drain.
      My problem with DRK is so much of its power budget is in the 2 min cd living shadow, and outside it you feel anemic. Also, the conal attacks feel bad compared to the other tanks who get real aoe's which work better with large hitbox targets spreading out in pulls.
