    After nearly 40 years, the interior of this '78 Chevy Camaro was totally rotten and worn out. We rip it out and start over with DEI's Boom Mat and Under Carpet Light and then all new carpet. Check it out as we show you how.

    Hey y’all I’m getting one used and need to redo the interior, thankfully she runs, but if y’all have any tips I’d love some, especially with repainting, rims, stuff I should be careful of with the original engine (that’s still running) transportation etc

    Any issues with the boom mat on the roof? I used similar stuff on the floorboards but the instructions said not to apply it to the roof. I figured there was the possibility of it losing adhesion after a few years of hot/cold cycles and falling off into the headliner.

    very well presented, no excess chatter, straight to the point information and showing enough how to without leaving tons of mystery. well done sir

    Been wondering about that DEI underlay for my current project, hope you can post a video after you've tested out the car with it installed.

    • @TheHorsepowerMonster
      @TheHorsepowerMonster  8 років тому

      +Swilling I really like it. The window regulators in the Camaro are really worn so I can't get a good window seal and makes a whistling noise. I tried to get a before and after on video, but it didn't work well. But besides the wind noise, there is a real difference riding in the car. Very happy with the results, and thanks for watching!

    • @Swilling

      Lol, no kiddin, 2nd gens arent exactly the best at sealing when the windows are up. Thanks!

    I inherited a 68 convertible camaro. Do you think its necessary to use the noise deafening stuff being a convertible? There is quite a bit of heat that comes off the engine so I would imagine the heat guard would help.

    • @BigfootUnibrowMan
      @BigfootUnibrowMan 3 роки тому

      Hey that's cool, I also inherited a 68 convertible camaro I'm restoring! I'm thinking the sound deadening will definitely be an upgrade for interior comfort. You will still have more noise than a coupe just by the nature of a soft top but it will help with engine and road noise and misc NVH quite a bit.

    Hello, very good video. Does the Boom mat also work for the door insulation to my 79 Camaro?
    There seems to be a lot of sound/weather detener competition, do you think Boom Mat is the smartest choice if yes why?

    • @TheHorsepowerMonster
      @TheHorsepowerMonster  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, it should work in the door. I think all the big name brands are all pretty equivalent. The cheap no-name stuff you can find on ebay I've tried and is a pain to apply and doesn't seem to work as well.

      Thank you very much for your professional opinion!
      So a quick last vote on this subject; would you go with Boom Mat, Kilmat or Hush mat?
      And how many square feet approximately/minimum is your guess to cover the main floor area, headliner and doors of my 79 Camaro?

  • @jovanireyes3905

    Have many square feet of under carpet light did you use for the whole interior of the Camaro?

    how do you remove the interior metal pillars??

    • @TheHorsepowerMonster
      @TheHorsepowerMonster  4 роки тому

      Are you talking about the A pillars? If so, there is a sheetmetal screw near the top and the bottom is located by a tab that slots into the back of the dash. LIfts right out. Hope that helps!

      POR 15 (Paint Over Rust). It encapsulates rust so it won't continue to grow and rot out the sheetmetal.
