Totally agree with Donald’s comments. Dave your running on board is commentary gives us novices a realistic view of all the little challenges ..... and rewards that leaning to sail in Mirror can bring. Sometimes in giving expert tuition, an instructor can forget the myriad of issues of confidence, technique and emotions that he or she faced way back when they too were learners. 😀 Your effort in recording and sharing your experiences is fantastic! 👌👍👨🏻☘️
@@peugeotsport5 Hi Bri, thank-you so much for that comment. Thats exactly what I aim to do. There's not much help out there anyway in my view, but what there is seems to assume a heck of a lot, so I wanted to do a rough and ready view of someone who is actually going through the journey. I don't care if I make mistakes, or do things wrong, I think as long as people can learn and it helps them then thats what matters!!!
So fantastic to see you out again this season, keep it up. You've come on so well since your first sail. I'm learning to sail in a mirror and I was really nervous before but your videos really spurred me on
Great video Dave, watching you struggle with the kicker and the downhaul, both of these run back to a cleat under the thwart on my boat, makes adjustment really easy, happy to share pics if needed, keep up the great videos, I'm just getting back into sailing a Mirror again, flying the Spinnaker single handed makes me nervous 🤣🤣
Thanks for this, Dave. By the way, at 9:00 you touched on center-board (dagger board?) "management" which could be a whole topic, and I wonder if you could do a tutorial for us on the nuances of using it in a variety of situations. Cheers from Japan.
Excellent video! You took us with you on a daring little adventure. Learned a lot 👍😀

So glad it has helped. The Mirror is an awesome boat to start with, you'll be a proper sailor sooner than you think.
That was great Dave, well done.
Many thanks!
Hi Dave, try tying the bottom of your main sail to the mast using the same hole as you have the down haul through, it should remove your crease.
I will try that. I dont have any eyelets on my mainsail to tie the sail to the mast which I also think creates this a little bit.

Haha Me too!! I will deifnitely get the spinnaker on this season though and give it a go. Maybe in some lighter airs to begin with.

Hi Mike, I think I do this in a later video coming soon. If not then I will definitely do one as it has helped me a lot.
@@SailingWithDave Awaiting your experience and tutorial, Captain D.
