I think it would have been a neat idea to use different color brushes on the different formulations. My brain would have appreciated it.

Thanks for the information, I didn't know you could melt a permanent color with a demi together. Good to know.

I had to watch this video several times. This is something a person needs to practice in order to get a hang to it.

I color melted my sisters hair yesterday and I never went to beauty school and it turned out amazing. No harsh lines and we did dark cool brown with ruby red after a balayage lightening the dark natural brown 3-4 levels, a light carmel brown and now the red really pops and she has dimension. I am so happy with it and she is too.

Such a helpful video!!! When doing this in the salon right after prelightening, would you dry the hair first, or just do it on the client wet after shampooing?

Great question Priscilla! For best color coverage and longevity, application of color is best on dry hair! If you are looking to do a dimensional tone (neutralize warmth and/or tone existing level down) on pre-lightened hair, this process can be done on damp hair, but I would only use Demi-Permanent Color for a damp hair application. It really just depends on the result you are looking for. Hope this helps ☺️

What lightning technique was used before starting the color melt??

Great question. Kelly did a heavy babylight technique to brighten up the entire head. She then separated the hair in to 5 subsections and as she worked up the head from the nape, she packed the foils closer together.

You’re able to mix different technologies? She blended the Kenra Permanent Color and Kenra Demi Permanent Color when she melted the base and mid length color…never heard of that being a thing

Hi there! Thanks for the question! Kenra Color Permanent and Demi-Permanent are able to be overlapped with no issues. Permanents are sometimes needed at the root for lifting, gray coverage, or a combination of the two. Once that has been achieved initially, demi is typically recommended for refreshing mids and ends or when color only needs to be deposited. While the ingredients may be slightly different in terms of ammonia content, the technologies and pigment formulations are essentially the same. We hope this helps!

Does any one know the 1:2 ratio for demi color in ml’s??

1 oz to 2 oz so you can just change the measurement from oz to ml 😁

    Very little dimension here.

Hey Sharma! Part of the beauty of colormelting is that it can provide subtle or high contrast dimension depending on what the client is looking to achieve. For a higher contrast or more dimension, you can deepen the root color and/or tone the mids and ends differently. Thank you for watching!
