I'm a cosmetology student, about half way done with the program, and this video taught me more in 15 minutes than my school has taught me in a year. Thank you!
@@silvermont331 My school taught it but it's not something they will teach over traditional techniques. Probably only about once or twice during my time in school for year. It just depends on the school :)
I’ve tried your foiling patterns and my foiling time has cut down tremendously!! And I still get the result I’m going for😊 thanks for sharing. Always working smarter not harder
This is the best explained/visual tutorial ive ever seen especially with foils. Ive had hardest time learning best method (im a newbie wit hair lol ) until now that i see this. Thank u so much u have no idea how grateful i am right now
You are just my favorite! I’m so glad I found you… So practical, your camera angles and lighting are perfect, you’re so easy to understand… You are literally helping me… So thank you!
I can't believe how natural her hair color looked when you finished! I love how professional and knowledgeable you are with your technique and products. Nice work! Wish you could do my hair!
You’re videos have helped so much in the salon! Your techniques and detail work make me feel better about how much thought I put into my clients hair, often times I second guess myself and think if I’m being too precise but you putting that much thought let’s me know I’m on the right track! Your work is amazing and thanks for basically the free education, definitely something you don’t have to show us 😄
I love your channel!! I did cosmetology school through a career center in high school and they honestly didn’t teach me anything about color! I’m currently doing men’s cuts and want to get into color and women’s hair and I’ve learned so much from your videos!! You’re awesome !
I love how you did this Jamie, it turned out so beautiful! Thank you for sharing everything! It looks like it's growing out from her scalp...you rocked those babylights!
I love your videos very informative thank you so much! I had a question tho I’ve seen the new Wella platinum blondor permanent liquid color I was wondering if you could do a review on them. I love Joico creme lightner but sometimes I use Blondor by Wella (: I Titianlive in San Jose ca I’m an esthetician currently but I’m going back to school
You're so amazing, Jamie! I quickly fell in love with your tutorials, though I'm not a hairdresser and I've never been interested in doing someone's hair:) your easy way of explaining difficult things is so unique! even those of us who do not have a clue about hair colouring could understand what is happening in the video:)) wish you growth and a lot of grateful subscribers!
your videos are inspiring me! Im starting at a new salon in Montreal, so with all the new clients, I cant wait try some new techniques inspired by you! Thanks for reminding us to take nice fine sections around the hairline! even those little hairs can make or break the look of the colour! keep up the fun Videos!!
Jamie I love all of your video's so much! You are so informative! I have learned so much from you and I have been a stylist for 13 years. Keep up the amazing work!
When I do this (have done this technique) is the timing. That you just mentioned while I’m writing. ;). I do this stuff at home when I do it since I’m no longer a Prof. in Salon it’s a hobby. So how do we rinse when the back is done? ☹️
I am curious as to how much you would charge for this color ? I live in Alabama and have been paying quite a lot for balayage and toner , no root shadow . I am a dark blonde with gray beginning to come in , would like to transition to my natural color with only few very light highlights . What would you recommend for me ? I have very light blonde from balayage which requires touch up every 4-6 weeks and would like something easier to maintain .
Hey Joyce! What stylist's charge is completely dependent on their location and demand. I don't give out formula advice on the internet because so much of it depends on what you see in person. I would recommend checking out instagram to find a stylist you trust in your area and set up consultations to find someone who you love!
Hi jamie i love your works and i think you are so talented but i wanna to ask you if there are other toners that you advise me i don't know if the question is clear... i live in Italy and many of these products are not sold here so how can choose the right one? For example how can i replace Goldwell 10v and 10p?
Excellent tutorial, I’m doing this exact technique on my daughter hair next week. its interesting because I was going to root tap and tone midlenthgs / ends all at the same time and was worried about the timings. Do you suggest I do them separately for the best results ? Please
Love this video and your personality! Any tips on combing through the root shadow?? I'm always scared its going to darken the blonde, do you leave the olaplex in while applying?? Can't wait to see more vids!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked it and learned from it! For the root shadow, I always use the Wow Comb because it doesn't pull the color down like a traditional comb. Also, I like to use thicker demi permanent colors for root shadows as to not darken the blonde. My favorites are Kenra Demi and Goldwell Colorance with the Cover Plus Developer (it thickens it). Hope that helps!
I use the same technique as you on the front mohawk too. It's easier and makes sense because we're working with gravity and not against it and plus all that flipping them around can cause bleeding. The end results looks tidy and professional, I dont want my clients foils to look like it was wrapped around a bake potato 😂
Thankyou for this , iv got a client who insists on full coverage of foils , back to back & of powder lightener & 20vol & alt with RW8 C8 & N8 ( Delorenzo) 20vol ( 6% Im wondering if theres a faster way of doing it bc its long hair & takes 4hrs ( btw its weaves) Its so ardous
Great job! I love the care you take to get each clients hair perfect. My hair is the same colour as the before atm. I'm curious if you were adding in a lowlight, what would you use?
Heyy! when you are applying the root shadow is Olaplex #2 still in her midshaft and ends? It seems like you can get through her hair so easily to apply the root color...
Amanda S I just use the regular Colorance developer, I'm not sure what % it is because it doesn't say. But it's the regular one and occasionally, I'll use the Cover Plus one
I would like to know if the root shadowing will work to cover gray hair? I also would like to know if I can use the hair color product, I already use in the salon to do the root shadowing? I use Pravana
I have a question, what if ur client has like a level 5 with a lot of grey so they need a permanent color retouch to cover grey but only want to go to a level 6, would it be hard to do a foilyage because u have to break thru that darker color u just put on? I'm confused when the client has much darker roots and they wanna drag blonde up thru it, it will always come out orangey, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
You'll definitely want to go through steps! You aren't going to get a neutral blonde on the first go around and they'll have to stay in the warm zone until then!

Any advice please

They just teach what you need to know to pass the board! Not going to teach balayage or any other techniques!

could you use redken shades EQ 7NA and 8N as well for the Root Shadow?

Hi Jamie! New subscriber here. Great in depth tutorial!
Thank you so much Wendy!
Could you use 8 N if her natural base is closer to a leve 4 N ? Or rather use an 6N or 7N
loveee it!! I am new to your channel and i am loving your work!!!

That was fantastic!!!!
Thank you Lauren!
Can I just used hair color for the root shadow?
Root colors are created with hair color. Thanks for watching!
Jamie, when you retouch a baby light do you just try to weave out what you already lightened?
Kind of! If i see it and it makes sense, I do, but I don't spend extra time doing that.
Jamie Dana so how would you go about it without doing that?
What was your placement working up the rest of the back of the head once you got to the occipital?
Eventually your diagonal sections will run out because the shape of the head and you will continue with horizontal sections.
Is shadow root the same as highlights?? Just asking. 😊
Hi :) I was wondering if you could tell me what % developer you used for the colorance toners? Thank you!

What kind of comb is that? The one u are using when ur doing the shadow root?
Its a comb from Framar!
Really really really nice, you the Best, thank you
Thank you!
I absolutely love your videos, may I ask where you get your chemical bowls?
Thank you so much, Erica! The glass bowls are from Home Goods and the plastic ones are from Cosmoprof.
How long does something like this take? Looks terrific
It usually takes me between 2 1/2- 3 1/2 hours!

Did you use a 1 1/4 barrel iron? And do you leave the ends out when you curl?
Exactly!

Thank you this video was helpful and informative
Thank you!

How long did it take you to foil her hair?
It took me about an hour to foil her whole head :)
Is that typically how long you take for fulls? Or does it take a little longer with filming the process?
Do you apply demi permanent on roots, if the client has 50 % gray hair ?
If they have that much gray, you'd want to use permanent!
How long does it take you to apply a patter like this?
How long does it typically take you to do a full head of foils?
Typically it will take me 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours depending!
wow . . . thank u, beautiful job.
Thanks so much Kyla!
Hey Jamie! I was wondering what do you charge for a process like this?
Beautiful!
Me encantan tus trabajos❤💚
