yay, I'm so glad it helped! For some reason the textured walls reacted better with the darker color as the last coat. I would recommend testing it on a swatch or on a wall so that you see if you like it best!
Thank you, thank you! it was trial and error but I'm glad I got it to show up on Textured walls :) it's definitely a workout, my arms were sore afterwards LOL
So far I've been able to clean scratches off without a problem, but you really have to wet rub gently. Overtime it can rub the color off if your wet rubbing the area continuously. But limewash paint companies usually also carry a sealer for easier wall cleaning. The sealer is applied after the limewash final coat and it's good to use for kitchens and bathrooms since there's more wall cleaning involved in those areas. Hope the tip helps :)
@@hauzandco thanks for the info! Thats great news. We want to do limewash in our garage remodel. I was wondering if Lime wash accepts sealers. I sometimes do decorative concrete and we always seal with acrylic based sealers to protect stains or overlays.
it can be sealed, but each company offers its own preparations; alternatively a chalk paint wax sealer can be used, or Linseed oil ( will darken paint)
I have MS and use wheelchair. Wondering, I have a paint roller that sucks up paint ..the lack of uniformity of this method might work with my shakes if I can use the pole and roller. Your thoughts?
Hey there! I have heard of the 1st coat being able to coated with a paint roller, but for the 2nd coat, I'm not 100% confident if the roller would do. Do you have flat or textured walls if I may ask? textured walls are definitely harder
that's a great question! I believe I ordered 2 gallons of each. The 1st coat slides like butter when applying it to the primed wall, but the 2nd coat will always suck more of the color and be harder to brush on, at least that was true for textured walls. So you always need more of the 2nd coat. One more tip: give them a call and tell them the sqft. and they will tell you how much they recommend for your space.
It's recommended, but you could always test one small wall and see how it does? I feel like the limewash settles better with the limewash primer since they're the same type of paint vs. an existing latex paint using a total different type of paint, it might not seep in
How did you order different percentages of paint? On the website it won’t give me options? Also what percentage did you end up using on first coat and then what percentage on the second coat? Thank u!
great question! they don't have a normal cart/checkout, they ask you to get a quote which open a comment field and you request what you're looking for. It's also easy just to call them and they're wonderful over the phone. In less than 24/48 hours they send you a invoice via email to review and if all looks good you can pay from there. And for the limewash layering, the coats in order were Limewash Primer + Eastwood Regular + Eastwood 200% darker as the final coat. Hope that helps!
@@hauzandco this was sooooo helpful!! Thank you!! I’m currently waiting on my quote! Hoping to do just this in my living room! Wish me luck lol your home is beautiful
@@kimberlymartinez4654 yay, so great to hear! I'm excited for you!! wishing you all the luck and arm strength, I felt like my arms were 3x the size after working out that brush LOL
Can you explain how to order the limewash for 50% darker and 200% darker tints? I’m not seeing the tint options anywhere on the portola paints website.
Hey Taylor, normally to order it's not a direct self checkout, you have to fill out a quote of what you want { regular, or certain tint %) and they will send you the pricing for it via email within 24-48 hours. If the order looks right, you can then directly self-check out with that quote email to pay. I called Portola a couple times to make sure I was ordering the right tints too, so it might help you too!
Most ppl wouldn't buy as many, but I personally purchased more to show the different color options for this project. I think normally most would buy 2-4. Depending on the place, samples can cost $8-10. I later used the leftovers for mini projects so nothing went to waste.
@@hauzandco apologies, I did find the video useful and the VoiceOver sections were fine, but the sound quality in the "live" sections was so bad I could not listen to it. Had to skip over those parts, where much of the useful information was contained. Sorry for the critical feedback :(
@@MaxxPwrrr I appreciate feedback with substance & this helps me know what I can update along the way. I'll definitely check out how I can refine that :)
This is so much easier to just water down regular paint in 2+ shades and brush on the same way. This was literally done in every custom home in Scottsdale in the early 2000’s lol. Now it’s being done harder and called a fancy name.🤷🏼♀
Lime wash is not at all a ‘new’ thing. Centuries old - literally. If you own a historic property, lime wash is the almost always THE wall covering to use.
I can't believe how light it dried! I will have to keep that in mind.
I really love the texture wall colour with the flooring and ceiling is so beautiful. Can’t wait! To see the whole space together.
I tried to match something similar but a bit darker, more in a medium brown tone, I think it looks good too!
This is the most helpful video online washing, and I’m watching a lot of them before I do this big adventure
thank you for comment! It makes all the editing worthwhile. Sometimes I thought it was too long, too much 😅
It is looking so good I can’t wait to see this room finish
I'm excited to get everything back in the room with final touches
Thank you so much for this! I was going to start with the darkest color first on my project tomorrow and so this helped a ton!

every video on youtube is limewashing gypsum walls. what i need to limewashing existing plaster walls!
I wish I had plaster walls 🥲
Beautiful job!
It loooksss soooo gooodd! Thank you for sharing
This was great thank you!!!
yay, glad you enjoyed it!
In love with it ! 🤍🤍🤍
it's a great color! we still love it
Beautiful job on the entire room. I love all of it. The limewash is beautiful, but way too much work for me. If I was 20 years younger, maybe.
I totally get it, as much as I love the look I'm not sure I could ever do an entire house. The room alone was an arm workout!
Looks amazing!
thank you!!
How beautiful!!!❤
I'm glad you you liked it so much!
THE LIME WASH LOOKS SOOOOO GOOD. can you come paint my house?
Thank you, thank you! it was trial and error but I'm glad I got it to show up on Textured walls :) it's definitely a workout, my arms were sore afterwards LOL
Love it 😍
🤗ty
Thank you 🙏. It’s helpful video .
Thanks for sharing your work! Does the paint get that light after drying?? It's so lighter than the origin one!
it does dry lighter 🥲 that's why I bought the shade 2x as dark. I have the exact colors in my description in case you need 🥰
Do you have the links to the lime wash you used?
here it is portolapaints.com/products/eastwood-lime-wash
I used Portola Paints ~ Primer + Eastwood (Regular, 50% darker, 200% darker)
Beautiful! What camera gear and editing do you use for your videos and pics? Trying to be more professional as well
Currently I'm using a sony vlog and adobe premiere :)
Thanks for sharing! ❣️
glad you enjoyed :)
What happens if you scratch the limewash wall? Is it easy to clean? Or the color fades as you take a wet rag to clean it?

it's from Portola as well, it's there limewah primer.

do you need primer if your walls are already white?

yes, you definitely need MINERAL PRIMER so the lime has something to key into via capillary action

Awesome! Thank you!
Do i have to use a mineral primer or can i use a regular water based primer for lime wash paint?
I would go with the company's limewash primer, since I don't have much info. to say if any primer would do
Was the texture shalky afterwards?
mmm, no, but it does have a very matte feel to it, hope that helps
chalky I meant. Was the texture chalky?
Where is the paint from
It's from Portola Paints in CA, I had it shipped :)
“Wouldn’t you do the same?” No
All those samples cost more than the actual limewash…

The ceiling is gorgeous. I’m a big fan of limewash for brick & masonry, but I really don’t see the appeal for walls 🤷♀️
Think southwestern adobe walls. Gorgeous.
It would look better on a flatter surface, but I wanted to show it's doable on textured walls :)
the audio is terrible.
terribly awesome, terribly long? too slow, at least give me something LOL

100% doesn’t look as authentic and real as what lime wash paints achieve - but for someone who can’t see that like yourself, enjoy!
paint wash and lime wash are NOT the same thing.
Lime wash is not at all a ‘new’ thing. Centuries old - literally. If you own a historic property, lime wash is the almost always THE wall covering to use.
limewash has been around for hundreds of years, its not new 🙄
