Hi, venetian plaster professional here. You did a fantastic job! The fist product you used is Lime Paint, it differs a little bit from lime wash in the fact that it’s thicker. Limewash is essentially lime paint but diluted more with water. What you did is pretty much my go to approach to limewash, a thiker base of lime paint with a wash over it to give the wall its movement. I also recommend not stressing too mich about covering every single white primer space on the first coat but to make sure every area have been coat even if it’s just lightly. That way on your second coat the wash will make it more uniform but those lighter areas on the base coat will generate a beautiful contrast and movement . Awesome job!
Yes, trust the process! I’ve done a lot of these types of finishes and like any art/craft project, it looks ugly until it looks beautiful. 😊 It lightened up quite a bit as it dried - phew! It was so dark when wet. Everything you do is fab-u-lous! ❤
Literally every video you've made is the same kind of aesthetic I want to go for when I do my mobile home remodel. I don't know how well it will translate in a relatively small space, but I love the overall look of what you're doing!
Ok, one more comment. I was really not sure about this from the start, but I think as a backdrop for the furniture and headboard art that is in front of it, it’s pretty awesome. I think maybe if it was just a blank wall it might be too much but now it’s an accent wall but it’s not trying too hard to steal the show, it just sets a nice tone. ❤
I’ve been following your page since you bought this house and I have to say, the transformation is astounding. It looks so different and I’m so glad you knocked out that wall. Please do a tour of your home, if you don’t mind, so we can see how it looks now compared to when you moved in. The limewash with the headboard art piece is just *chef’s kiss*. I so want to try this on my walls.
The final product looks awesome.. even without storage and you just added the old headboard it makes a great defined space look so cozy c ompares to the white in the kitchen without too much dark. Thanks for sharing
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻looks great! Sometimes when the old plaster is crumbling bad I toss up some 1/4" drywall. Just less hassle in the long run. Especially with horsehair.
Very nice result! I have to admit I wasn't sure what lime washing should look like...but it looks good on your wall...I love that you used your headboard as an art piece...as always you did a beautiful job there! (and Hi to your Dad!).
Sam, I think you did an excellent job. I appreciate that you expressed how apprehensive you were on trying this technique. Also thinking outside the box and mixing the two brands was a great idea. I was a little disappointed that you didn't film a bit with your dad during the two hour drying time. I was looking forward to that. 😂
Reminds me when i decided to try velvet texture finish paint from Ralph Lauren...seemed like a great idea...all done by brush..took me 6 coats to be satisfied with the brush strokes and finish...think i had half of an inch of paint on the wall at the end, hahaha..but it was worth it for the 8 months i kept it there..great work as always...
OMG wow that looks really great actually. Good job!!! I LOOOOOVE LOOOVE LOOOOVE THE HEADBOARD AND THE COLOR TURNED OUT SO AMAZING. I’m proud of you for trying this.
It definitely turned out better than I thought it would after seeing the 1st coat lol. In all honesty tho, I'm liking the before wall better. To each her own and so happy you love it!!
you can also add water to lime paint, to thin it out and bring out color variation as well as you layer them, if you dont have multiple colors to mix :)
I love projects like this ❤❤❤❤ 😊 I wonder if you could show me how to make or renovate My front door like yours I really want to make it on my own 🤗please!!!
I’m not into trends either, but I love how this turned out. I’ve been trying to decided how I want to paint a wall in my daughters room and I think this might be the move!
Good job Sam. Pup looked disapprovingly sad, that you took down the accent wall. I think I seen something like this in a This Old House Episode. The home owners brought in a specialist to paint the child's room and the specialist used, if I remember correctly, 6 different colors at the same time. They didn't call it LimeWash, they called it something different and that particular design is used for Children. The specialist intentionally made figure 8 strokes with the brush, some large some not so big. I can't remember what they called the technique but it turned out very nice.
So, at first, I was like, "why is she taking down my wall?".... Like I live in your house lol but that limewash wall looks so delicious! I have no other word. I now see what you mean about tying it into the kitchen. The flow is soooo nice! Great job as always!
Sam!!!! Never giving up, never surrendering!!!! It came out pretty cool I'd say. Kinda let down that Pa Dukes didn't pop in at least one more time LOL!!! Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
Sam shows off her sneaker collection :) Either way Sam, I have one big question. What does one do to repair wall damage on this? Is it easy to fix since that paint job seems complex indeed. Thanks!
This reminds me too much of the walls we had in the 90s.. those were usually wallpaper made to look like limewash, but it just gives me negative flashbacks to that. For me, home improvement needs to move forward, not backwards to something that was already trendy in my lifetime. 🤷🏽♀️ Regardless, your space is lovely.
😂looks even worse! Oh yeah compound time baby! That's a nicelooking wall! So glad you arefeeling better. You look good, healthy. Good idea to prime. Hahaha I was wondering when your Dad was gonna show up. I imagine the Care Bears jumping from cloud to cloud! Oh so COOOOL!!! I love it!!!! Yasss moody and rich! Yes velvety!! I love it, Sam. Another challenge accepted and met! ❤🎉

It looks SO luxe! And using the headboard was a stroke of genius.
Thank you!
The wall just warms up the space so much! The texture of the paint and the nice warm wood tones of the headboard/art piece, and all of it! Love it.
Thank you so much!
As you were doing the joint compound, I was thinking you could just color the compound and wind up with Venetian plaster.
I thought that too, but then I’d have to apply a few coats and also sand more and that made me want to do anything else. 🤣
I think it looks beautiful! ✊🏾
Thank you!
Agreed!
I love the texture it adds. So soft.
Right!? I’m really digging it!

That looks fantastic! Great job!
Looks great, Sam. Adding that headboard was the perfect final touch.
Bill
Thank you!
I love the wall 'headboard' I think it ties the bookcase and leather couch together so perfectly.
The wall reminds me too much of 90s school photo backgrounds. The headboard as an homage saves the look for me. Also makes it all look much warmer.

I❤ this lime wash wall! The color is gorgeous, and the headboard art piece meshes well the shelving on the kitchen wall . I'm so into this look.
Gorgeous! Love Aero (Arrow?) at the end as you pan across the wall... *blink blink* He's so cute!!
And he matches ❤ Her pup is home decor, love him!
I love the depth of the 😊color on the wall when finished!
Right!? I’m so into it!
The wall is pretty. I love how the wood piece warms up the space. ♥️
Love the geometric head board art .
I love the lime wash look! I’m going to do a lime wash accent wall in my bedroom.
You totally should! It’s a little more work than I thought it would be, but I feel like it looks cool!
@diyhuntress ummm isn't that the case with every DIY project? 😂

I like it a lot! It looks really good, I actually like it better than the previous wall treatment, I think it's the darker color that works so well!

There is definitely a special place in my heart for the first wall. I do wish the cabinets weren’t covering it up!
The gray works well in your space, particularly because you have lots of warm tones to balance it out. Well done.
Thank you!
It’s beautiful!
The headboard is perfect!

So. Many. Sneakers.
Also, I’m not sure yet! But, I can let you know!

I actually had a similar paint in our living room growing up so for me, this gives me good flashbacks! 💓
Can that wall be taken down? And have stairway exposed with hand rail?
No… I tried. There’s a header in there that can’t be taken out.
I’m trippin that Arrow didn’t make an appearance. He’s always in the mix when you’re working on indoor projects.
We have lived in our house for close to 13 years and I’m still so far from redoing a room for SECOND time😩
I love it❤🎉
