I'm not the biggest MS fan these days, but back in the 90's they they really where at least trying to be hip, and I won't even get into most Apple fans who act like no matter what they do it's the best thing since invention of the GUI.
The only Microsoft ad that I remember is the commercial for Windows 1.0, with Ballmer speaking and shouting like a maniac, and ends with that "except in nebraska"
Don't forget Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer paroding the volkswagen "da da da" ad and "Night at the Roxbury" clips, the japansese commercial of a governor screaming "WINDOWS!" at a dinner, Windows 98 tour with Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Perry, and even Apple with the "Computer Man" parody of John Scatman's "I'm the scatman"
Don't forget Bill promoting Windows 95 gaming with Doom, or the time he did a Coke commercial going around asking if anyone had some change because was working late, and forgot his wallet, or the one he did called Bill Gates last day at Microsoft where he still drove a shitbox of a car into work.
My friend Clippy isn't dead! I still talk to him, we talk about how great it would be if Microsoft would let us assist again sometimes. How far into the future is that movie supposed to be?? 😂
I remember an infamous Microsoft tv ad with the copy «thank god, it's Monday», or words to that effect. It showed people who couldn't wait to get back to their offices on Monday. It was hilarious and caused quite the consumer outrage. But I can't seem to find anything about it...
The BTTF one was my favourite, as a lover of the trilogy it couldn't have been otherwise. You forgot the most important one: Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer doing the Night at the Roxbury headbang :v
That one was good, and don't forget the Coke ad Bill did where he was working late, forgot his wallet, and was looking for anyone with some spare change for the Coke machine as that one was good as well. Funny thing is in reality is they did not even have Coke machines in the MS buildings at the time, just cases, and cases of free Coke products for the employees in the break rooms.
8:41 I won't be surprised if you not only talk about that, but also the "Microsoft Home products for Windows 95" promo (on UA-cam as "terrible windows 95 commercial" or something like that).
90's Microsoft and Apple strike me as the least stuffy-stuffy businessmen ever. They did some shady shit, but at least it felt like there was some genuine passion and fun behind what they were making.
They changed the present because the guy sent a picture of Biff harassing his previous self to his HR department. Them going to the future was just something they did too.
Let's be real here linda is FINE. The one that looks like she walked out of any 90's music video. Edit: @ 5:10 .... A dare shirt. Nice touch.😂 Kinda ironic tho since he looks like mac miller.🙏🙏
Microsoft: “How do you do, fellow kids?”
Nice profile Pic.
Any windows after 8.1 in a nutshell
Lol.
No PC should be without it.
No PC should be without it.
No PC should be without it.
No PC should be without it.
No PC should be witho-
This comment made my day! :)
The trailer for Windows XP's slogan "Where will you fly?" was changed after 9-11.
Nice.
It's called 9/11
It’s actually “Prepare to fly.”
In the hospital.
2:38 I'm guessing William switched to Linux after that
Ironically, my name is indeed William, and yes, I run Linux.
I run Trisquel, even though my real name is not Wayne..
The nearest alternative was to pay for and accept a micro-softie product, which is unethical and greedy. I chose illegal.
Microsoft got a labeled as not cool by those stupid Mac ads. But back in the day Microsoft really was hip. :)
Apple fans are the most cultish hardware/software enthusiasts ever.
I'm not the biggest MS fan these days, but back in the 90's they they really where at least trying to be hip, and I won't even get into most Apple fans who act like no matter what they do it's the best thing since invention of the GUI.
@Bas Bakker why not just use GNU/linux
use cli as much as possible then use gui for other things
@@Clay3613 i used to be into apple as a kid. after i grew up i went with microsoft and have used them for over 20 years
Meanwhile at Apple: ua-cam.com/video/SDpagiwYDg4/v-deo.html
Never mind SkyNet. A future controlled by Microsoft Bob and Clippy is way scarier!
;-)
"Canonical Microsoft Lore"
@@RandomNameLastName811 Microserfs
@@SnabbKassa on a side note
Microsoft, the musical is now a canon thing.
The only Microsoft ad that I remember is the commercial for Windows 1.0, with Ballmer speaking and shouting like a maniac, and ends with that "except in nebraska"
This is the single greatest thing that I've watched in 2019. Thanks a lot!! Without you I may never have found these.
Ah yes, the office 2010 movie trailer. I saw it multiple times on some old office blog, and had been wondering what it was ever since.
Oh and, who can tell me more about the backstory of the vidéo of Gates and Ballmer dancing in a car?
>you watch Neil Cicierega
Ah, a fellow man of culture, I see.
He mentioned 300mb hard drives and Neil Cicierega has a song called "300MB" too.
I both appreciate and am thoroughly upset that you've shared these with us.
Anyone remember Steve sweaty balls Ballmer selling windows 1?
500 DOLLARS? A THOUSAND? NO! IT'S JUST 99 DOLLARS, ORDER NOW
*EXCEPT IN NEBRASKA*
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! REVERSI!
0:51
Agent: "What's The Font?"
Me: "Comic Sans"
Hey science elf! Love the content! Keep it up!
Science Elf? More like my sole source of knowledge about anything technological.
But not pop culture for sure.
Greg Gasiorowski - FAX!
I love that "Office 2010: The Movie". Wish they should make a sequel. 😂
"Spell check this! *D E D!"*
Quality content Microsoft. Well done.

A channel like this is going to make it big sooner or later
To imagine that if Microsoft did those ads today, people would ironically or unironically contribute to the Microsoft opening their own record label
I've loved the Windows 386 one since I was young, so happy to hear about others
Ever since I saw this video when it released, and ever since the "Windows/386" and 'Gimmie 5" raps pop into my head every once in a while.
Director: "We need a commercial that will appeal to hip moms & secretaries & make them buy Windows."
Director''s wife: "Leave everything to me!"
Databits dose this right. He just plays the old ads and promo videos without narration.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000: Introduction is a nice MEME.
the "hey, that would be cool" one?
I want one of these commercials for every Windows 10 update
"They missing something" - Yes, they missing sanity....watching another several minutes...WHAT HAVE I DONE? MY EYES, EARS AND BRAIN ALL BLEEDING!
Swapped away from my Netflix binge just to watch this
My friend Clippy isn't dead! I still talk to him, we talk about how great it would be if Microsoft would let us assist again sometimes. How far into the future is that movie supposed to be?? 😂

The rap for the 386 systems, remembers me to Big Bang Theory's Sheldon bongo song rythm. Was it from there? nice easter egg for TBBT if it is
These ads are the best thing to come out of Microsoft.
you should do something with the silence spaces on your audio (even if it's just room noise), it'll make for a better headphone experience
Steve Ballmer dancing and screaming on stage should make the list for another video.
I miss Clippy 😭😭😭
There is a Windows video that starred Matthew Perry and Jennifer Aniston during the heyday of Friends, which is absolutely bizarre as well.
1:45 U rappin' AWFUL!
neat PaRappa reference xddd
Again.
*W H A T ?*
WOW! Long time no see! What a pleasant surprise!
The BTTF one was my favourite, as a lover of the trilogy it couldn't have been otherwise.
You forgot the most important one: Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer doing the Night at the Roxbury headbang :v
Not a commercial, but "Bill Gates' last day at Microsoft" is also pretty funny.
3:33 - I didn’t know that the Apple Pencil existed at that time
No need to double-post.
What a hoot!! Thanks for the video.
8:13 He was so young =( =D
"Give me 5... Upgrade to MS DOS 5... make your DOS Applications come alive"
I feel personally attacked every time a Microsoft commercial refers to Clippit as Clippy.
4:50 Dos boxes? As in Dos-Box?
4:38 Elephants, interesting =D
Will Techmoan do a video about the tape player featured in this M:I intro?

*TOP 10 RAPPERS EMINEM WAS TOO AFRAID TO DISS TOWARDS*
Old jokes aside, that rap video was godly.
This is the content I subscribed to! 👌👌👌
My god. 404 views. That's why this video can't be found! And that thumbnail is... great!
"Probably already seen most of these, whatever, It should still be a good video"
*8 minutes later*
"What the fuck is happening?!"
I love this Channel. Keep it up. Greetings from Germany
8:41 I won't be surprised if you not only talk about that, but also the "Microsoft Home products for Windows 95" promo (on UA-cam as "terrible windows 95 commercial" or something like that).
They are internal ads for distributors, it would be awesome so see a bit more of it
Post more frequently love the videos
Why is there sort of a pyramid on the bottom of the blue screen?
Great video, btw the dos 5 add reminds me alot of how sesame street animated back then. Kinda funny lol
> TheScienceElf uploaded a new video
> Doesn't get a notification on his phone nor in his sub box.
THANKS, UA-cam!
1:50 That's a little bit abstract =D
Links are not working on UA-cam app
What about the IBM PS2 commercial. I cannot get that song out of my head.
Why didn’t you include the ad for windows 1
I love the MS-DOS 5 upgrade video.
did Microsoft buy Back To The Future or something
very "fellow kids" but in the way you know they're doing it because it's memorable and hilarious.
how much weirdness do you want? Bill Gates: Yes.
0:07 The Science Elf did not know 2023 really well.
Instead of cutting out the mic when you're not talking, try filtering out the background noise instead. It's really noticeable on my speakers
4:16 kinda copied/inspired from the Music of Paul revere by Beastie boy(1986)
You forgot the Windows 1.0 ad featuring Steve Ballmer. 😂
0:07 I like Bing Jokes & your videos =D
Somebody hasn't discovered the PaqRap...
By the way, was every commercial like that in the nineties?
2:33 My Grandma looks so much like this, shirt colour and even hairstyle.
Why is clippy's death a very funny scene to me... Gonna go watch that Office 2010 movie in the theater
1:45 I noticed she raps while typing on his keyboard.
Are we not gonna talk about the ad where Steve Ballmer is promoting Windows 1.0, while acting he's on cocaine?
That one is just about the most well known, and having seen Ballme on stage over the years the dude is just insane in general.
the MS-DOS song got stuck in my head
I love Microsoft's ads they are so funny sometimes!
Lol! I have a VHS copy of the Microsoft/386 ad from a trade show I went to with my Dad and thought it was cool to take as much free crap as possible
Great one, keep it up!
1:41 ah so this is where the protogent rap came from
Because of this video I'm making a VM with Windows/386 with MS-DOS 5
2:47 William is played by Ace Ventura, apparently
Can you make the Official Microsoft Lore Timeline?
so wait...they went from Windows 386 to MS-DOS 5? From Windows back to Dos?
Perhaps Windows 2/286 'commercial' was for internal entertainment at MS, whereas the MS-DOS 5 one was a genuine ad.
8:51 *Help!* =D
Damn, that noise gate is set really high
2:50 *Inside William’s Mind* SHE BLINDED ME WITH WINDOWS 386 (and yes I’m drunk typing this rn) (dill with it)
My favorite is the Microsoft home windows 95 commercial
These ads remind me of the notorious Steve Ballmer selling Windows 😂
90's Microsoft and Apple strike me as the least stuffy-stuffy businessmen ever. They did some shady shit, but at least it felt like there was some genuine passion and fun behind what they were making.
They changed the present because the guy sent a picture of Biff harassing his previous self to his HR department. Them going to the future was just something they did too.
lol that rap commercial, call it "Mix Mastersoft."
Where’s Vanilla Ice when you need him? 😂
Let's be real here linda is FINE. The one that looks like she walked out of any 90's music video.
Edit: @ 5:10 .... A dare shirt. Nice touch.😂

Steve Ballmer's on-coke Windows 1.0 commercial not here? Really? What were you thinking of, oh, lord...
