The hardest problems to face are the ones that you have created. I struggle with that a great deal. Orthodoxy has helped me deal with how I sin and repent. May salvation and God’s Grace be embraced by all.
Master, please have Mercy on all the people everywhere. Both the living and the dead, all the way back to the begining. Lord have mercy! Lord have mercy! Lord have mercy!
Hmm, I also have often criticized clergy, namely specific priests and bishops but I look at them personally and somehow I don't put equality sign between them and the Church. I think we need to ask/warn them at least about their problematic behavior. Church is not just clergy
Much love from a convert to the Serbian Orthodox Church in the United States. I see you stumbling more and more into these issues and I can visibly see in your appearance that it is damaging your soul. I hope you have a spiritual father to talk to about these things.
This reminds me of some recent converts at my local ROCOR parish trying to act like the Greek Orthodox are a bunch of heretics because the bishop of my diocese made a mistake about a certain Saint and decided to welcome Catholics into the church by Chrismation rather than both baptism and Chrismation.
@thecourier9290 Which heretics? Arian heretics by the Canons of the first eccumenical council were to be received by Chrismation. Nestorian heretics at the council of Chalcedon were to be received by Confession only. Now you tell me, are the Catholics even nearly has heretical as the Arians who denied Jesus is even God and deny the Trinity?
@@thecourier9290 I would say the needed approach is to obey our bishops, and call for them to settle this discrepancy in a council amongst themselves, and to be sure to pray for them. To accuse a whole See of heresy for a discrepancy of reception is erroneous
@@thecourier9290The Council of Jerusalem made it clear, that there is no need for baptism of someone already baptised in the name of the Trinity, be it Roman Catholic or Lutheran. As for St. Basil supporting that, it's not exactly true. There is one canon by him that talks about the issue, but he really doesn't give us any formula on how to receive the Latinsm
Brother Onion, Blessed Fr. Seraphim Rose calls this the "Correctness Disease". In its final stage, the afflicted is in Communion with no one. When criticizing, do it with humility, love and questions using quotations from the Saints and Martyrs.
I didn't really understand this mentality even when I wasn't a Christian. There is something about every person that I disagree with. Sometimes even fundamentally. But if I cut out everyone in my life that I don't like something about, I would be left alone and I don't like myself either 😀 That's so hard to say: "I strongly disagree with person X's stance on thing Y, and I'll have a debate about it, but that doesn't mean I would discard him as a person?" And eapecially in the Church? (BTW: "New atheists" are just now divided regarding conservative stance of Richard Dawkins on trans people!)
I recently came out of Roman Catholicism and while I understand the Orthodox Church has issues I’m so grateful for the sense of peace I can’t imagine being critical of it
If you want to criticise the Pope then don’t forget your obligation to pray for the Pope’s intentions. Otherwise have no illusions about the fact that Satan is waiting to greet you.
Historically speaking, his only intentions are to make more Uniates. He has no other agenda towards Orthodox so far, after 1000 years of being in heresy.
I do not like use of the term "zealotism" in place of "radical fanaticism". In the Bible we can see that zealotism was regarded in a positive way. For example, Prophet Elijah's zeal was glorified by the God. One of the 12 Apostles is called Zealot - Simon the Zealot. Nowadays it is turned into something "negative" and I find it being annoying. Reason for that probably comes from the heresy of Ecumenism as zealotism directly opposes it. Ecumenists need those individuals who are lukewarm to lead into the perdition, while standing no chance before true zealots who are burning with the love for God and His truth.
So if Orthodox Christians who criticize the Church are members of the Church, and we criticize them, aren’t we also criticizing the Church? Half-kidding here. 🤔
Sounds like the person needs to learn a better way to express hum self. He should have went to the priest and made an appointment to talk about his concerns. (which us hard to do).
Im sorry but this is a very dangerous line of thinking in which you could end up justify clergy who do not practice nor hold proper Orthodoxy Yes we must he humble, yes we need to focus inwards in our spiritual journey However we should not he humble and turn a blind eye to false teachers and wolves in sheeps clothing. Clergy can be wrong, clergy can be heretical even. The reason why the heresy of Arianism spread throughout the entire church at that time, was because of exaclty this. Arianism, nestorianism, monosophitism, iconoclasm, papism. All of these heresies literally emcompaseed the entire church in their time. They did so because of this mentality Instead: "We need to know our faith well enough to defend it against bad clergy" We need to have the fear of God in our hearts. We are responsible for our own salvation. We must choose and discern to not be under priests or bishops who will lead us astray (like Arius, nestorius etc) We are not Roman Catholics who have blind absolute obedience to Authority Neither are we protestants who place our own Authority above all else Orthodox Christianity is the middle path of these two extremes In this 21st century world, modernism has destroyed our faith, and we need to discern this
Nice strawman of old-calendarism. There are some old-calendarists who fit the bill you label us all with, but an overwhelming majority have the correct view on this subject.
We love to look outward but looking inward is so uncomfortable. Orthodoxy has forced me to look at my own sins. Glory be to God! ☦️🕊️

I mean by the logic of the critics I should be for example an anarchist for my criticism of government.

A very needed approach, as Saint Basil supports baptism of the heretics.
