That’s why my school goes into lockdown when a fire alarm rings, even during drills, and the staff will assess the building, and should there be such a fire emergency that requires us to exit the building, then they say on the intercom which areas of the school must evacuate. There *are* loopholes in that procedure that could be dangerous, but it’s still so much safer than blindly leaving when the alarms go off.

The first story is a perfect example of why bathrooms should have brick walls and a door which covers the top and bottom of the stall with a light for it. So that nobody knows someone would be in there.
