I think you need to get a bunch of the same molds without your logo and sell those, empty, wholesale. You can have your line in ceramic jars and just keep special scents/seasons in concrete. Then you wouldn't be wasting the time and effort you've put into learning to make the concrete jars and be able to make a great profit! If you buy 20-50 you'd be able to make enough in a session to make it worth your time. The savings in making a vessel can easily be cancelled out by labor costs. If you can make a bunch in one day and then seal them all in another day, you would spend, say, 16 hrs in making/sealing and maybe another hour or two in boxing and that with that time cost, sell at the correct product % for your labor and material cost, that might be worth your while!
Great Advice! I was thinking the same thing almost.
I agree, and work with 2 to 3 colors, and specific colors only to order.
❤ Yessss! Cardboard separators 🙌 So much work!! Grear job Bree 😊❤
Bree, you are the best! Thank you for always sharing ❤ I started adding additional vessels for the same reason. It helped revive my love for concrete and now use them for my wickless collection. The concrete amplifies HT when under warming lamps. It helped me fall in love with them again. Ive grown as a maker, learning to wick multiple vessels. I wish you the best in the new chapter ❤
Love to hear that! That’s what I’m hoping for. Thanks for watching. 🥰
I agree, Bree is absolutely amazing and I have learned so much from her throughout my candle making journey💕 I have worked very hard (and spent quite a bit of money!) perfecting my concrete vessels. I absolutely LOVE the look of them, I really enjoy making them and I love the ability to customize. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a sealer that doesn’t “bubble off” when the wax temp reaches above 150 F😔 I am curious to hear how you seal your jars to withstand the heat of a candle lamp? I am really at my witts end and am about to throw in the towel with concrete vessels because I just can’t move forward with creating my business😢 I have tried Earth Safe Finishes sealers and Eco Advance, but neither seems to withstand high temps. I also let the concrete cure for 7 days before sealing and then I let it cure for another 7-10 days before pouring my wax. Any tips or advice are GREATLY appreciated🥰
You are such an inspiration. I LOVE "listening to your thoughts". Sometimes that's how you find your north and move forward with more confidence. I have no doubt that your rebranding will be AMAZING because you are amazing. I'll be here cheering you on, my sweet friend. LOVE those new vessels.
Hi Bree! You are such a calm presence, and always encouraging, and as Im getting started, Im just thinking about making the vessels & not the candles. It IS a lot of work, but I am LOVING making them and playing around with colors, but I have NO doubt that whatever your future holds, you will be very successful. You have helped so many people here, and I for one, really appreciate you. Best of luck and blessings.
I hope you keep the concrete as holiday collection, I now like wood for my candles
Looking forward to what's up next for you, Bree. Can't wait!!!
Thanks, Teanna!
Congratulations on the huge candle gig!!!! This vid was right on time .....I'm also thinking about switching over to glass. Rest easy❤
Thank you!!
Hi Bree, I love your channel! I may have a suggestion for you in regards to shipping many candles. Uline has canning jar boxes that hold up to 12 jars, and is a 200 lb test box that withstands rough handling, and the box has partitions.
Funny you say that, I have some on the way! Lol. They actually extended pickup time for the order, so I’ll be able to use the canning boxes 😃
YT put you in my recommendations and the pic grabbed my attention. You're candles are lovely and I love your logo too. This is the first time I've heard of concrete vessels for candlewax and I think you may be setting a trend. Even if not I'm glad I came across your channel. Thank you for sharing.😊
Im very much in the research phase of candlemaking and you were a major reason I looked into making my own jars (and Jai 😅), but I've started to step back and think the same thing about cement jars. I've made a few of my own and even poured candles in them and it's TEDIOUS. I can't imagine making 150 jars for a wholesale order, plus your own stock for any website/store/event you may have. So I think trusting your gut in this decision is the best for you!
I've come to the conclusion that I'll make a few limited edition jars exclusive to events that match my branding, but otherwise have started looking for glass and ceramic jars. Good luck in your search, I know you'll make a great move in the end ❤
Exactly my thought! I’ll still do concrete here and there, but it’s not ideal for wholesale and really trying to scale. Thanks for watching! Wishing you the best of luck!
I love your content and i have always thought that your vessels are amazing amd that is what sets you apart from any other sellers!
Thank you! I appreciate it.
Don't stop making them. Just offer them durning holiday season. I want to learn how to make them myself.
I recently ordered from SIMBI, too, and I love their scents. I basically did the exact thing as you and made another purchase shortly after receiving the first lol
They are so luxurious! Really feels like upscale scents.
Great job!! They look beautiful. Congrats on your big order!
Thank you!
I live in Brazil, container costs here are very expensive, and exporting from China or the USA is expensive due to our currency, as well as shipping, and doing so is very affordable, even including the service time, material. Of course, like you He said, it's bad for climbing. I'm going to see a ceramic pottery here in my city and see how he can make containers for me. Good luck, I really like your content.....
I, just last week, decided to stop making my vessels. It was hard to decide but i agree with you, it’s difficult to see prolonged growth from season to season. And I only have 3 molds 😮.
Agree! I'll still make concrete vessels here and there, but for large quantity orders it's just too much work in my opinion.
Glad to see you back
Thank you for sharing 🥰 and doing that order is amazing!!! I love my soy10 & beeswax blend that I make along with my cdn series as well. I have LX here but they are ginormous size wicks 🤣 I’ve had luck with my blend with eco as well, again thank you for sharing and your candles are beautiful 🥰
Thank you for watching! ❤️
@@calafiacandleco you’re very welcome 🥰
Wow! Your videos are always so calming to Watch! Thanks for sharing. These are really clean and beautiful. Addicting for sure 😊
Also - I hear you about the vessels. I plan to do wholesale in 2024 (maybe) and I’m nervous cause making that and the candle is just too much. I think you have a great foundation and have room to switch things up while still standing out 😊
Thank you! It certainly is a lot of work. Some people can manage, and I have mad respect for them! lol
Hey Bree, would a wine bottle separator help to keep the vessels apart? The ones they use to keep the wine bottles separate in the boxes of 12. Maybe you could ask for some from the local liquor store ❤
That’s a great idea! I did order some canning boxes from ULINE so we’ll see if that will work!
Hi dear.
I am from India.Your way of presentation is so fascinating. Throughout i felt you are sincere to yourself. Sharing everthing is a great mind.I dont have enough words to say more. All the best.
I too was making them to sell at craft fairs or to gift but had to stop shipping them because no matter how well I packaged them the cement vessel broke 😬. They are very lovely though.
Oh no really! What a bummer
I agree on the making the vessels - I only make my concrete candles on small custom orders - I make 6 max for anyone who wants to purchase them! You will do great things! How is the toll on ur hands and wrists with all the mixing etc! I purchased that vessel and I am waiting on my clear labels to put on them- They are so nice I will maybe add a dust cover tho because I feel covers are a must! But I don’t want their lids- since it’s separate-
I’m bumbed about ur concrete ones since they have ur logo on them! 😢 I do hope u keep them at least for seasonal
My hands were definitely worn out! 😂 I will still make them, but just not for signature candles or wholesale orders. Thanks for always being so supportive, Edna! ❤️
Wow that is amaaaazing, hats off, I was exhausted just watching you working hard lol. Congratulations on your business
Thank you!
I just did 100 candle order and i do concrete jars as well. It was rough. I said i would not do whole sale concrete charge i will need to find another candle jar that i liked for whole sale and to sell. I still want to keep concrete jars available but only on certain collection. Good luck finding a jar you like im on the hunt now myself.
That’s exactly what I’m thinking. It sure adds a lot of work!
i love concrete jars....other thn tht i like only one jar...which seems very costly...i m from indiaaa.
I think what you’re doing is amazing just how your vessels are. Don’t change a thing
Thank you! It's just far too much work in order to scale my business, so change will have to happen
Even if you are using a wick and someone ask that does not mean they are not doing the work of testing, everyone start somewhere because someone guide them first and like you said what you like is not what they like and probably they can find out things that you don’t know, but they will not know if they don’t try it , you never know if those asking are going to help you in the future, cus waxes can be discontinued or suppliers shot down many things can happen..
Yes, exactly! There are certainly people out there who are just looking for the easy route, but I choose to believe they are few and far between. I’m happy to share if it’s going to help people and give a starting point.
Hello. I was thrilled to come across your channel because I want to start making small concrete projects, and you have provided vital information. I was sad to hear that you will not be making as many concrete candles and instead using a different vessel. Of course we wish you the very best in your company, but feel using a concrete vessel sets one apart. I for one have not seen a small concrete candle holder and thought it a neat idea since the vessel could be used afterward too. The concrete seems more lasting and multi-functional, whereas the others can be found just about anywhere and possibly discarded. The question for me would be - what would set my product apart from all other products that are being produced currently? If growth in a business is whats being considered, what does that look like? Is it going to be a one person show so to speak or will it require the assistance of others as suggested in one of the comments. These are just some of the things that came to mind when you mentioned the transition. Totally appreciate and love the look of the concrete candle though. Best. :)
Hi! Those are all thoughts I've considered, as well. I'll still do concrete here and there, but in my opinion it's just not feasible for trying to grow a one person business. I've at least established my brand and built somewhat of a following, so I'm hoping the customers will still follow and continue to purchase glass jars!
@@calafiacandleco Thanks for your reply. All the best! :)
Your vessels are so beautiful, what about finding someone to make them for you?
Thank you! I did think about that for a bit, but I ultimately decided cost wise I think the ceramic vessels will work out better.
Good for you ! Such a large wholesale order. ❤
Thank you!
Ornament shipping boxes?
Hi!
I had a question for you!
I am starting to make the cups with cement, and generally some cracks appear in them.😭
Do you use any product to prevent these cracks? or can you share some tips with me?
I live in Malaga, Spain and I love everything you create!😍
Many thanks for your time.🙏
PS ... if you have equipment ever that you want to get rid of, please keep me in mind, and I would love to chat with you sometime, if you ever think about partnering. I have learned sooooo much from you. Thank you. 🙏
Thank you so much for your informative videos!! Do you coat your concrete candle jars before pouring melted wax into them?
Great video. Thank you for always sharing your successes and lessons. 😊 I'm curious where you're getting your new vessels from? They are very pretty!
Thank you! They're from Candle Science :) Nordic ceramic jars
@@calafiacandleco I'm excited to see when you review them 😊
I’m new to your channel and you are inspiring.
Aww thank you so much!
Oh wow….I just started selling my concrete vessel to other candle makers and backing away from actual making candles. Lol
Good for you!
Hi. May I ask What titanium
Dioxide are you using?😌 Is it the anatase (food grade) or Rutile (industrial)?
Amazing video! A quick one - not sure if I missed - but do you make these jars yourself?
Thank you! Yes, I do. I have a couple tutorials on my channel.
I run when I see a new vlog lol
Hello from Portugal. Your videos are so calming. I really enjoy listening and watching without me being impatient and turning off. May I ask what size is your vessel, the one with your logo on? I would like to try this. Not sure if I will get the right sealer here and it would be too expensive to ship over but I would still like to try.
Thanks for watching! They are the 3inch tulip molds from Canadian Silicone Molds.
@@calafiacandleco Thank you 😊
How do you swap out a wick when testing if only an inch or so is melted on top? Thanks! I’m a fellow candle maker too and love those Nordic ones:)
I like to pour my initial test candles wick-less to make it easy to swap out wicks. Then when I get an idea of which wick will work best, I’ll pour a full candle with that wick attached to test. If your wick is attached, I’ve heard of people using an apple corer to get the wick out.
Im very new to candle making...How do you make a profit with those expensive molds? My starter molds are less than $20. Can you help me understand the math for Cost of materials when factoring in the molds? 🤔
Hello! I have a cost of goods video a ways back where I discuss this. Thanks for watching!
Omg I'm feeling the same!!!!
I looked at your website, and it doesn't show that you sell concrete vessel candles.
I no longer do. This video is from last year. It became too time consuming, and I switched to glass to be more efficient.
Hi, how did you make the mold with the engraved logo? It's really beautiful!
Thanks! They are custom ordered from Canadian Silicone Molds.
Hi Bree, thanks for this great video. How to find the fragrance oil company you mentioned here? I want to try new fragrances. Thank you !!!
Thank you! I mentioned Simbi in this video. They have some luxury fragrance oils that have lots of depth to them. I've also been testing some oils from Porter Candle Supply and have been loving them.
❤Beautiful vessels
Thanks, Easton! 😊
Where do you get your mold from with your company name on it.
They're from Canadian Silicone Molds
Are your tulip molds 3inch or 4inch?
These are 3 inch!
