This is the best interpretation, I ever heard. After 40 years, this girl returned me the love to the piano solo. Beethoven was the first romantic composer. I am sure, this is the way, how he imagined to play his sonatas.
There are several very young pianists now with fantastic capabilities. I like this by MIss Poon but I saw also a versdion by Umi Garrett at 13 years ( the third movement of this Sonata) and I like it even more, the style of Umi is really amazing. YOu can watch the version on INternet.
@@phantomaq My opinion is absolutely another. Tiffany Poon's play is full of emotions, yet clear and accurate. Umi Garrets simply plays quickly, but without emotions and clearness. There are hundreds such a pianist. After discovering Miss Poon's magic, I listened 20-30 others and became sure: Tiffany Poon IS THE BRIGHTEST STAR on the piano sky. Never, neither in the past nor in the present, could anybody shiver my back [with piano] as well, as her play.
@@PETRIK_Lajos I understand your point. But it is a question of preference, for you, Poon is better, but for me, Umi is better, there is nothing you can say that can make me change my mind. Tiffany is very good, but for many people, other players are better, and you can not change that. Every eprson has right to prefer other players, dont you think? For example, in your mind maybe TP is the best in the world or of all times, but most international experts say the best is Yuja Wang. For others, it is Valentina L. and for others, it is Lang Lang. Others say that Lang makes a lot of mistakes. It is personal preference. Maybe for many people Marilyn Monroe was the most beautiful actress, but for me, others like Jaqueline Bisset (in pictures of her at 25 years) or Jenniffer Connelly at 22 years, were much more beautiful. Yes, and also this is one of the most amazing composers that ever lived (Beethoven) being performed by a girl with true talent and heart in her playing.
I admire how she took a moment before starting, to breathe and enter the door opened by Beethoven, that not that many can do. It also gave the audience a chance to stop and pay attention. Tiffany is wonderful, and can be goofy.
My goodness...I was over the damn moon when I finally was able to play through the 1st movement non-stop. She's amazing. Great technique. Her wrists are exquisite & her dynamics are impeccable.
I taught myself to play this at 14. My father was an accomplished musician and I spent six months practicing without him knowing after school. None of his theatrical nonsense. My father’s tears when he came home from work and discovered me playing his beloved piano. Sometimes you don’t need anything but determination. Xx
At 9:17 I have no idea how she's making it sound it like that, but I absolutely love the left hand part, it sounds so cohesive and expressive. I don't think I've ever heard anyone else make it sound like that.
Finally a classical pianist who knows how to FEEL the core of the Music! That's very rare! Most classical musicians give classical music a pretty bad sound, so bad that I usually can't stand it for more than 30s. But with her that's finally real "Music", awesome!
Look for lucas debargue. The mozart interpretations by mitsuko uchida are really great music as well. I agree with you, many "musicians" are more like craftsman than artists..
This is absolutely beautiful to watch, when she starts the third movement I was so moved by how many hours she has probably spent on it, literally every single part, note and emotion takes so much effort
Long, long time since I heard this sonata played with such reverence and tranquility. While pianists use fingers to make music, your peaceful spirit seems to tiptoe on the keyboard instead. Bravaaa
I just can't get over how quiet she got the RH to be at 11:04. To play the Alberti passages soft but controlled is insanely hard and I am saying this as I have also learned this piece before. Amazing 🤩🤩👍

“By exchanging notes, you get to know one another, to understand one another. As if your souls were connected and your hearts were overlapping. It’s a conversation through instruments. A miracle that creates harmony. In that moment, music transcends words.”

Amazing performance... and let me also wonder: wonderful Fazioli piano (such perfect sound!!!...). Tiffany you got the perfect spirit of the author of this music: "Playing a wrong note is insignificant. Play without passion is inexcusable." (Beethoven)
Tiffany made the piano sing with her beautiful fingers touching the piano keys!On then on the second movement her fingers made the piano sound with si much anger and bitterness while her strong fingers were running soooo fast on the piano keys! Such great contrasts from the first movement! BRAVO!!!!
That’s how it’s meant to sound. I know she’s put in the work, but she is also gifted. It sounds like she traveled back in time and asked Beethoven how she should play it. Not to mention our pianos are built differently now and it’s hard to achieve the intended sound... no dampers. 😘
she played the 3rd movement perfectly. most young people who can play it just focus on going faster than necessary and forget about all dynamics or actually having it sound good
As I watch 13 year old Tiffany play my favorite Beethoven piece my jaw drops open as she plays the third movement with skill expertise and emotion of a more mature and adept pianist. In my opinion the simple word WOW applies. Well done Tiffany. Well done indeed. ❤
It's so beautiful, how she hovers over the piano at the beginning. Just that tension and at the same time this calming noiseless room full of expectation. Almost trying to feel the music without it even being played like she wants to relive the whole peace. That is what makes her a great artist. Even at 13!!!! like low-key wow!!!

Even if you were an expert, you are not the owner of truth. I am sure many other people also prefer Umi. Just personal opinion. Every person has an opinion, and for me, Umi Garrett is the best, and something in her personality is more magnetic. I prefer her style. Also, Laetitia Hahn is great but I have not watched her to play this piece.
@@phantomaq Yes, I am an expert: my ex piano teacher, a well-known in those times classical conductor, considered me very talented in music, so my musical sense is good. --- This is my last answer. Please, do not waste your time to explain me, why the difference between Bentley and Suzuki is just a matter of taste. As I shall not waste my time on a paid brainwasher.
@@PETRIK_Lajos So because you believe to be an expert you think that the whole world must agree with your opinion, your have serious problems. YOu misundertood a simple thing. And if you are so "talented", why you are not famous in the world? You should be playing concerts in many countries and be in many videos on INternet, like Lang Lang or YUja. - DOnt respond,. I will not read your comment. Be happy with your "fabulous talent", hahaha
Holy crap, she's 14 here? Lord...so much musical maturity. I could listen to this hundreds of times.
Actually, only about a month & a half shy of 14 here.
But who's counting? She's amazing! And now, at 25, she still is.
Fred
Honesty, who can't...
That's crazy impressive at her age
I'm 14, I'm actually scared.

This is how I imagine myself after practice piano for 5 mins
i’ve been playing piano for about 5 or 6 years and i’m proud to say that i do not know how to play this lmao
@@iconiceditz4 Do you consistently play everyday or just whenever
whilst I'm playing marry had a little lamb for the rest of my life
@@percylewis6821 i play the piano for almost 9 years now almost everyday and I'm 14. This piece is easy and slow, you just need to have the emotions to play it. You know what i mean? You have to feel it to play it.
see one day i do seven hours another i do 2 it’s how much i feel my pieces need work i find this type of practice fit for me
This video was given to us by so many people, the pianist herself, the video producer, the audience, Beethoven, the piano manufacturer, and even the unknown cleaning lady who kept the stage and building clean enough for the performance. Outstanding performance, humans are truly incredible

Usually
Welcome to a lifetime of beauty.
can you please stop saying the word weep? ahhh! I'm crying now. ps: I'm a girl. 8ys.
Mostly it is
Yes, and also this is one of the most amazing composers that ever lived (Beethoven) being performed by a girl with true talent and heart in her playing.
I admire how she took a moment before starting, to breathe and enter the door opened by Beethoven, that not that many can do. It also gave the audience a chance to stop and pay attention. Tiffany is wonderful, and can be goofy.
Agreed, letting yourself feel the composer's energy throughout does help with playing their music.
Anyone pointing out her (very few) errors needs to try being a player, rather than a spectator. It takes real guts to perform.
I get stage fright playing by myself
I've only heard one version with no missed notes. ONE.

The only thing better than listening to the third movement is watching someone play it.
Actually I would argue that the best thing to do is to play it yourself.
I would love to be able to play it. But I don't have the patience to teach it to myself :(
The only thing better than watching someone play is playing it yourself.

Btw...that is an interesting piano bench...
+Benedikt Scherer lol
I agree

Never seen that bench before either!
+Ein Scherer Oh, I feel poor for the person whose name starts with a I
It’s a bench especially for like contests and stuff in Asia
Volvocloud petals
Yes, but there is also technique to it.
Volvocloud she crescendo’s then goes down and crescendo’s again- she also uses the far most left pedal I think there
Finally a classical pianist who knows how to FEEL the core of the Music! That's very rare! Most classical musicians give classical music a pretty bad sound, so bad that I usually can't stand it for more than 30s. But with her that's finally real "Music", awesome!

@@uarmyjoy nah I saw her version of this and it was boring no emotion.
Look for lucas debargue. The mozart interpretations by mitsuko uchida are really great music as well. I agree with you, many "musicians" are more like craftsman than artists..
Bringing tears to my eyes every time I hear this. What a gifted artist she is.
13 years. I hope this hardworking young woman has found fulfillment and happiness in this world.
This is absolutely beautiful to watch, when she starts the third movement I was so moved by how many hours she has probably spent on it, literally every single part, note and emotion takes so much effort
she plays with such passion, grace and perfection!
Long, long time since I heard this sonata played with such reverence and tranquility. While pianists use fingers to make music, your peaceful spirit seems to tiptoe on the keyboard instead. Bravaaa
This sonata is a beautiful piece on its own, but the way someone plays it makes such a difference. Props to her. She did a wonderful job!
I just can't get over how quiet she got the RH to be at 11:04. To play the Alberti passages soft but controlled is insanely hard and I am saying this as I have also learned this piece before. Amazing 🤩🤩👍
My dad used to play Beethoven during the 1950’s on his homemade hi-fi over and over. I got sick of it.
Looking back, i thank him for what he gave me.

her playing still is so gentle and patient, enjoying each note. it's so amazing i love her interpretation. (in the first movement)
the emotions she has put into this perfomance is what makes this so beautiful

totally agree!!!
It's not a song, because they have vocals.
Kusagari Blues If it’s Modern or Acapella music it’s called a song. If it’s classical it’s called a piece, and if it’s Jazz or radio, it’s called a tune.

“By exchanging notes, you get to know one another, to understand one another. As if your souls were connected and your hearts were overlapping. It’s a conversation through instruments. A miracle that creates harmony. In that moment, music transcends words.”
Moonlight's 3rd Movement will always be my favourite!
Such energy and attack, yet so fluid and steady. I love watching piano player’s hand/body movements almost as much as hearing the music. She’s like a conduit for human emotion to musical melody
Also, she has this all committed to memory. There's no sheet music in sight! Wow such talent!
You can just tell she loves the piece so much, it just flows. That's a lot of hard work combined with passion, really wonderful to hear

Amazing performance... and let me also wonder: wonderful Fazioli piano (such perfect sound!!!...).
Tiffany you got the perfect spirit of the author of this music:
"Playing a wrong note is insignificant. Play without passion is inexcusable." (Beethoven)
One of the best interpretation of the first movement!
Came for the First Movement. Stayed for the Third! Kudos to you, Tiffany!
Not to mention our pianos are built differently now and it’s hard to achieve the intended sound... no dampers. 😘
I got goose bumps as soon as she started playing and they aren't going away...

Abhay Namboodiri this comment made my day 😂
Piano tiles = no rhythm
she played the 3rd movement perfectly. most young people who can play it just focus on going faster than necessary and forget about all dynamics or actually having it sound good
This was the best performance I've ever seen of Moonlight Sonata
As I watch 13 year old Tiffany play my favorite Beethoven piece my jaw drops open as she plays the third movement with skill expertise and emotion of a more mature and adept pianist. In my opinion the simple word WOW applies. Well done Tiffany. Well done indeed. ❤
I’m so taken with her performance that maestro Beethoven must be smiling with tears of joy in his eyes as well. Thank you dear lady!
It's so beautiful, how she hovers over the piano at the beginning. Just that tension and at the same time this calming noiseless room full of expectation. Almost trying to feel the music without it even being played like she wants to relive the whole peace. That is what makes her a great artist. Even at 13!!!! like low-key wow!!!
..you're pure human treasure Tiffany!
She's like a full purple peony swaying gracefully in the wind.
That is how she plays.
You are one of the best piano players I have ever seen! So beautifully played
1st Movement: 0:40
2nd Movement: 6:35
