Funny thing is because my timeline order is just as much about watch order as timeline order, _Runaways_ moved up two slots (above Agents of Shield S4), while _Cloak and Dagger_ didn't move, but just had changes in the in-universe seasons. The last person I watched timeline videos on before this channel only had seasons set instead of months and days because he couldn't narrow them down further than that. So that also helped in not moving them further.
Imagine going through a bunch of crazy time travel stuff, feeling like you can finally relax, and then your friends and family turn to dust and there's no way to prevent it.
I'm actually in the middle of watching runaways and cloak and dagger together in release order, so I'm going to stick this video in my watch later until im done!!
Perfect! And if you just want to see the timeline overview, you can find it here: drive.google.com/file/d/1GOVcYa39zqOAD06gYILyLtjSmrGWRrtS/view?usp=drive_link
I’ve been rewatching the MCU in chronological order since last May and I’m literally in the October 2017 timeframe with Iron Fist S2 right now, so this came out at a very fortunate time.
18:00 I have a relatively good explanation for all the inconsistencies with time trivial: Different methods applied means different rules come with it. Remember EG used the quantum realm(kang’s domain) so it makes perfect sense that method would create branches and more opportunities for kang to rise up. Cabel’s time watch doesn’t seem to use the quantum realm at all(perhaps without an ant-man or hank pym quantum physicist is’t that far along in the FOX universe) so no branches DOFP only the mind was sent back so again it wouldn’t be a branch or the TVA wouldn’t prune it. When the time travel here seems to not use the quantum realm so no branches DOFP only
A runaways video in 2025? With Nico Minoru appearing in the new Spider-Man show, I hope we get some Runaways or Cloak and Dagger content. Morgan le Fay had the Darkhold but we never find out how she got it or how Agatha got it. Assuming Agatha did know that Morgan had it, you'd think she'd mention it or something. Also Morgan has a connection to the Dark Dimension, Dormammu doesn't need to worry Infinity stones and Cloak is connected to that dimension as well? Maybe we'll get some developments in a Doctor Strange film
Yeah, seems like Runaways is getting alot more attention recently. Love that! Oh, and as for the Darkhold, Multiverse of Madness mentions there are multiple copies, so perhaps Morgan's copy is different than Agatha's? Not sure on that, tbh.
I'm glad the MCU Wiki did this re-evaluation. I'm currently doing a chronological rewatch of the entire MCU, and there's been a few times where I found things head-scratching, or even just wrong. I didn't get to the Cloak & Dagger/Runaways era yet, but I'm glad it'll be more proper once I do. Thank you for making the video!
Man, I didn't realize Cloak and Dagger and Runaways were connected to the Defenders. Kinda weird that they don't get a timeline placement yet. Same with AoS.
I added them to the watchlist I created. My marvel timeline: 1/29/25 update (All content up to date up to the release of Thunderbolts*) -The infinity saga is arranged by looper and the following sagas are all arranged by me. -All numbered (1,2,3,etc.) content is the MCU/sacred timeline. Let me know what you think and enjoy the list! “I can do this all day.”
It'll be a while before the Runaways makes it onto the Disney+ MCU timeline in particular, since Disney apparently took Runaways off Disney+ and Hulu altogether, ostensibly to save some money 🙃 Real bummer because the show's pretty good overall.
Thanks! That's very nice of you to say. It's alot of work, but I just feel like I should pack the vids with as much info as possible. Also, really appreciate your support of the channel!
@@AbitofEverything4U3:14 it's almost like the guy in charge of the movies and shows is more credible than the streaming service who can't talk and has no personality ! Who would've thought ?!
The fact that The Runaways are getting more and more attention (through this video, Nico being in YFNSM) i hope they one day get the Daredevil treatment and they make their way into the MCU
It's interesting how the different Marvel TV shows were treated differently by Marvel Studios I know Feige said the Marvel television projects were on the "outskirts of continuity" back in 2014 but their actions strongly point that Marvel Studios never cared much for Marvel television and they were just being nice or forced by Disney to pretend it was all connected. I think Agents of SHIELD was given some info about the MCU because it was the first show so they paid attention to it more, the showrunners were related to Joss Whedon, and Whedon's production company was involved and was a direct spinoff of an MCU character.... After Joss Whedon left the studio, the connections and tie-in episodes stopped (apart from the Sokovia Accords and Raft being referenced). Agent Carter was given some love as well because it was also a direct spinoff of an MCU character (that was still showing up in in MCU movies) and the Russos and Feige were credited as producers (in fact Joe Russo directed an episode)... that's probably why it's the only Marvel TV show to get a proper cameo in the MCU during that era and is still referenced in 2 episodes in What If Season 3... because the Russos and Feige were specifically involved in both and they're invested in continuing to use the Agent/Captain Carter character. Other than those 2, I don't think the MCU cared for any other projects that were Marvel Television originals and not MCU movie spinoffs. Joss Whedon leaving and Ike Perlmutter getting kicked out to the TV side in 2015 really stopped any potential for further collaboration even for SHIELD and Carter shows....... Everyone just got lucky that almost all show timelines ended pre-snap Brad Winderbaum's comments on how they decided on making the Netflix shows canon implies that "TV shows are canon" are not the default way of thinking at the studio and it wasn't until the creative overhaul were they open to accepting the Netflix shows.
I thought it was pretty wild that What If season 3's Agatha Harkness episode pulls elements directly out of the Agent Carter series (Howard Stark running a movie studio, and his particular dynamic with butler Jarvis, only really exist in the context of that show) so that's pretty encouraging. Whether they're prime timeline or not, the older shows are still in the mix on some level.
@thetotalrandomguy I agree, it's so bizarre to see how those Pre-D+ shows have been treated. But that said, Feige was understandably upset that it was a separate division and so the shows weren't under his supervision and so he now views them as being step-children in that regard. However, it was encouraging to see the Netflix shows get such a warm return to canon and I agree with @LuigiHann that things are looking good for Agent Carter to get the nod soon. Fingers crossed!
What are you talking about I have numerous clips of Feigie reaffirming their canonicity over the years And even Feigie saying in 2020 that he respects those shows because they’re loved by fans So they’ve always been treated as canon also the shows have been referenced in subtle ways in the movies
I think it would be neat if they would confirm these shows and AOS as canon to the timeline already since secret wars is likely to do a soft reboot - might as well stack everything into the current timeline before a reset
This does work. But much like with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., I think it's fun to imagine that, in the randomness of the snap, some areas turned out perfectly fine, which is always how I imagined the 6 month time jump. BUT this does more closely align with the Cloak and Dagger timeline instead of having them finally show up almost a whole year after they had left for LA, and for a whole slew of other reasons as you mention. Also, the series finale shows that the Runaways survive into the Blip anyway. And LA seems perfectly fine then, too, which is partly why I never cared if it did go into the Blip. Because the whole city does, too. Edit: I am still of the mind that, which the various things said by 2028 Chase and Alex, as well as certain... Coincidences, that the time travel in the finale does NOT follow back to the future logic. But there is a lot of reading between the lines, and then my plan for a limited Disney+ Marvel Television series that... I need to become a known screenwriter in order to share with Marvel. Because in Hollywood you other news name recognition or connections. And I currently have neither. So I'm gonna spend some time working on some original stories and IPs, try ny hand in some screenwriting contests, and see where things go from there.
Super random, but on the topic of AoS, the snap, and Back to the Future logic.... the biggest missed opportunity of all time is this: In the season 5 finale of AoS, airing within a month of the release of Infinity, the character Deke Shaw, who came back from the now-averted post-apocalyptic future, wanders off to enjoy the present, fully believing he's about to be erased from history any moment now. The episode absolutely could have had an end-tag sequence where Deke begins to disintegrate into dust, which would have a completely different meaning for those who had or hadn't seen Infinity War yet. Still bums me out that they weren't on the same page enough to make that work.
@LuigiHann That would have been interesting, but Deke's presence in the show, as well as really the entire storyline of season 5, is actually the FIRST instance we see of branch timelines existing. Deke can only exist, in the future or present, if the future where Talbot destroyed the Earth, HIS future, comes to fruition. The S.H.I.E.L.D. team can only prevent that future after having gone forward in time to experience it. And in that future, we see evidence that the S.H.I.E.L.D. team has already gone back in time and failed to prevent it, resulting in a Predestination Paradox/Causal Loop, with Deke being FitzSimmons grandson, and YoYo's older self existing in that future both being key examples. But we also see firsthand, through Robin's experiences, that the S.H.I.E.L.D. team tried and failed to stop Talbot. Speaking of Robin, her experiences eventually led them to succeed, as the elderly Robin knew that the S.H.I.E.L.D. team would succeed despite existing and dying in a timeline where they did not. That's because her consciousness perceives all moments in time simultaneously, a la Doctor Manhattan from Watchmen. But even further, Deke's continued existence in the present, after Talbot had been stopped by Daisy, Fitz' death at the end of season 5, and the retrieval of present day Fitz in season 6, are even further proof. Deke comes from a timeline where the S.H.I.E.L.D. team failed to stop Talbot and Fitz never died, leading to the birth of Deke's mother, and eventually him. Fitz has already experienced the future he has failed to prevent having put himself in cryo to reach the future and save his team. The Fitz who died in the present day has experienced the future after having put him in cryo to reach said future to save his team. He, along with his team, succeeded in preventing the future, though he died in the process. Present day Fitz, who is retrieved in season 6, never makes it to the future BECAUSE of his retrieval, and also because the Chronicoms detected a change in the timeline and wanted to change their own fate. If there was a detectable change in the timeline, however, then they were not using Back to the Future logic in season 5. Plus, Deke, the death of the Fitz who has experienced the future, and the retrieval of the present day Fitz who is traveling to the future, leads to the same conclusion. BUT it leads to questions as to the nature of that future's existence. We KNOW the Sacred Timeline doesn't see the Earth destroyed by Talbot, as that would prevent the Earth from being attacked by Thanos (and very likely prevent the Avengers from stopping him). So we know that THAT future exists on a branch. But it's also clear that it, that is their experiences in it, is the reason why the S.H.I.E.L.D. team successfully "stops" that future. So is it possible that a branch must exist in order for the Sacred Timeline to exist? Yes. Avengers: Endgame and Loki's references to it, specifically the Time Heist, confirm as much. And so that is why Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is the first instance of a branch timeline in the MCU.
@@DarthTingleBinks All good points. My thought was mostly that it'd be a fun fake-out; the audience might think he'd been erased but he'd actually be Snapped. I agree that it's clear the time travel mechanics in this case wouldn't actually erase him, and presumably he'd still be back in (in this "TV writers are in the loop about Engame" scenario) a post-blip season when he'd come back with everybody else.
2:23 To answer that question, the MCU Wiki was my primary source for figuring out the timeline before I discovered your channel. 9:07 Friendly reminder: Amy was *Nico's* sister.
Spoiler: In one of the new episodes of ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ the version of Nico Minoru has her parents as her background on her phone. Interestingly, they also look more like the ones from the tv show(Tina wearing the same necklace she wears at one point in the show. Robert has glasses like the tv show, he doesn’t wear them in the comics) rather than the ones from the comics. This is a clear reference to the runaways show. Ik it’s a different timeline, but it’s nice they referenced her parents and specifically had them look like the show versions.
There’s actually a few more MCU Easter eggs in Helstrom. Small stuff, like a Roxxon sign, O’Harrens bottle, New Orleans Gazette, San Francisco Tribute, and Dallas Records making prop appearances. a cool little unintentional connection was that a knife that the Blood had was stated to be a replica. That knife ended up being the exact same prop as Sersi’s blade from the opening scene of Eternals. So unintentionally, the Blood had a replica of Sersi’s knife. If you want to fit it in canon, the replica was stated to be copied from the blade stolen from the Iraq Museum in 2003, which in the MCU is in the British museum in 2023 with Sersi. So at some point from before 2003, the knife was replicated and obtained by the blood, and was the real one was stolen from the Iraq Museum. At some point between 2020 and 2023, the British museum got the real knife back
Thank you for doing this!! Always love the timeline updates. For what it’s worth, Mardi Gras can be in March!(like this year) - I’m not sure if that would change anything whole scale but worth noting!
Wow I always thought that Misty line in C&D was a random Easter egg but I never noticed how she’s mentioned in Luke Cage! That’s a great connection right there. C&D is super underrated.
I think Agent Carter, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Inhumans, Cloak & Dagger and Runaways are cannon to the Marvel Cinematic Universe or should I say Sacred Timeline Earth-616, What If...? Season 3 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man confirm this. Keep up the good work!
Something everyone seems to ignore is the massive homeless encampment on the grounds of the Gibborim church in Season 3B. That was never shown to be there prior. Combined with both Leslie alluding to people needing community in light of “recent events”, plus Morgan centering her entire Corvus marketing around people “finding their flock”, it made perfect sense to me that this was post-Snap. Many recently homeless, orphaned, widowed people struggling to make connections. I mean, I definitely feel that the revised timeline makes much more sense, but people dismiss the August 2018 placement a little too quickly for my liking.
Great point! Yeah, I was really happy that No Way Home mentioned the efforts to help the homeless who were displaced by the blip, similar to how it came up during most of Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Those type of storylines make the MCU feel more realistic and thoughtful about real world problems.
Wanna know what I wonder what could be canon? The 1990 Captain America movie that featured Ronny Cox as the President! Have you ever seen that? You might enjoy it-similar look and feel to the 1994 Fantastic Four!
@@AbitofEverything4U Yeah! I think it's an interesting thing to look at because it came out right after Batman 89 where we were still figuring out how to do comic book movies. It's strange to see Ronny Cox in a role where he isn't a hateful maniac, too. OH and it also has the kid who was the monster from the Twilight Zone episode "It's a Good Life"-Bill Mumy (a small role). It sounds like a fever dream but it actually happened!
ABC shows did feature characters first introduced in MCU. Cloak and Dagger from what you said connect to Netflix shows. Hulu is a subsidiary of Disney. So, except for Legion, Gifted and Helstrom others place in MCU getting confirmed is just a formality at this point (But I do get the hesitation of not including it)
Awesome feedback. Yeah, I really hope those shows get added to the timeline soon. I really enjoyed them and they deserve to be included with the Netflix shows!
Huh, i had worked all this out myself in my own personal timeline i keep a while back, I didnt realised there were other people doing it too XD also a few minor things, Amy is Nico's sister, there is also a Roxxon gas station in Helstrom to tie to other MCU shows, you missed out Fitz time travel machine from the last season of SHIELD in your page of all the time travel as it was distinct from the monoliths, and if it helps at all to tie in timeline wise Bridget O'Reilly also talks about Ben Ulrich from Daredevil and uses his card technique in Cloak and Dagger.
Yeah, I really like this timeline shift. Works so well. And yeah, can't believe messed up Nico's sister. Ooof! Good call on Roxxon. And yeah, Fitz did indeed create yet another time travel method. Throw in Loki's time slipping for that matter. No more time travel, Marvel, please! Good ol' Ben Ulrich. Miss that dude!
Thanks! Yeah, I love doing these timeline breakdowns. You can check out the MCU timeline playlist as it has breakdowns for the main MCU, for the Netflix shows, for the ABC shows (Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter, etc), for the News Casts, and more. Timelines are really fun to track and break down!
How do you find these great details? It's hard not to be impressed. I don't know what Marvel will do, but I wouldn't mind if it was included or not. Daredevil has arrived 🥰. To be honest, most people haven't even heard of the Hellstorm series. But definitely Agents of Shield and Agent Carter should be in the MCU timeline. I watched the Runaways series before the comics. After reading the comics, the series felt very incomplete, so I would be happy to see a new MCU Runaways team. But if this series is canon, there is no problem. The same goes for Cloak & Dagger. Thanks for this great video 😊😊
Thanks for the positive feedback on the vid. Really appreciate it! And I agree, I'd be fine if Marvel rebooted the Runaways. I liked the first season, but by the final season the quality had dropped off. That said, I did really like the actress that played Nico, so it would be cool to see her back again. Will be interesting to see what Marvel decides to do with the show going forward.
@ Nico was my favorite too. And seeing her character in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman gave me chills. I have always believed that all of these shows are in the same universe. Even before Marvel Netflix shows became canon. We saw actor who plays Black Bolt in Doctor Strange 2. So we can see them someday. I mean so far everything has become real. Marvel loves to give us what we want.
I believe that the future that Chase came from is post blip, but when he comes back to the past to save Gert, it was before the blip, that way will kinda make sense that ''a part'' of season 3 is after the blip.
Finally, a Runaways video. I liked the idea of running a place after the snap. It's a huge world not everyone had to feel sad and gloom. I'm gonna miss it.
Yeah, I think the 2021 part of the time travel storyline works okay after the snap, but having the end of the season be in Aug, 2018 was weird, as everything looked very normal. And it essentially went against that Loeb said. So I really do like this new timeline better, myself. But regardless, it was fun getting back into the Runaways for this vid. Really good show!
10:49 as far as the unreliable calendar goes, it shows 2 months with 31 days back-to-back. It's either July and August or December and January. So it's probably January.
Yeah, that's a good point. Although, with all the 29's, I do have to think someone just wasn't trying very hard to make the calendar represent anything at all. What a mess!
I'm fine with the runaways being moved back, I'm just not sure that's how the 'last online' message would work😅. Most games start from scratch when it launches so beta play time isn't included
Shhhhh...we're gonna assume that in the MCU, the beta games carry over the player info. I mean, that's the respectful thing for the game to do, ya know! : )
Ngl I wish daredevil and co. would’ve been more intertwined with the rest of the mcu during the infinity saga. If these were also canon it just feels so wasted to not have it connect to a perfect story that was the infinity saga. The multiverse saga just feels like it ain’t worth it since I can’t see these fun side characters team up with the main characters of the saga, since there are non lol
Yeah, would have been fun to see more crossovers with the main MCU. That was the bummer about the earlier shows...they were made by a different division of the company and so there wasn't much synergy between them.
Sorry if this is a question you get asked a lot but is there a way we can look at the timeline spreadsheet? I couldnt find a link on the discord. Or is it a member perk? Love the content btw keep it up!
Drat… I meant to put the link in the pinned comment on the channel. Sorry about that. Here’s the link to the spreadsheet: Check out the Google Drive timeline documents: drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1R_PrexMkTjYpQAraxlhzs2U5EPJEPioc.
I like this new placement, it is best that those series happen before the snap (with the exception of AoS, Helstrom and a bit of Punisher). Anyway Helstrom will always be canon to me, the removed references were just because it happened to come out at an unfortunate time for Marvel TV after all. I hope they tie it up with the Midnight Sons.
That IMDb timeline page you showed has a few things wrong with it, it places daredevil season 1 in 2014 (even though it’s in January to February of 2015) and the defenders in November 2016 (even through its in may) among other things, plus that also isn’t an official timeline from IMDb themselves like you said it was just made by a dedicated fan I think, and it’s been around since 2018 too!.
Yeah, that IMDB page definitely needs some work. But I do suspect they used the wiki for alot of their placements. Will be interesting to see if they update the page with the new timeline!
5:00 Hi! Is this now deleted video an interview with the actor or the character? Like you (probably) I collect these vids, like the newsclips and in-universe special features. I am delighted that the hulu serieses are in the 5 year snappening, where I placed them in my collection, although I haven't finished your vid yet.
Great question! It was an interview with the actor and she gave details on her character arc. Bummer that's its private now, but at least the wiki was able to grab the info from it for the timeline.
So it’s official? Cloak and dagger and the runaways are 100% mcu canon just as much as iron man or daredevil? So like before a reboot marvel can’t make their own versions of cloak and danger because it would contradict pure mcu canon? If that’s the case I had no idea, I always thought they were totally separate! Also didn’t know about the connection to defenders so that’s pretty cool
Good question! So afaik, the show is still considered a branch off the main MCU, but it is pretty wild that it had references to the Defenders series. Hope it moves back into canon at some point!
Thanks for the positive feedback on the vid...really appreciate that! And yeah, I need to look into the TVA comics. I was thinking of waiting until they all come out, but I definitely need to do a vid on them!
I'll give Jeph Loeb this much...he did his best to keep up with the MCU. He certainly made sure the shows left cool easter eggs across networks (Netflix, Freeform, ABC, etc.). It's unfortunate MCU stopped keeping him in the loop...maybe then Runaways would have followed MCU time travel rules better. That's the main thing that keeps them from being canon to the MCU.
So, runaways season 3 , wraps up before endgame or infinity war? i didnt get that part, sorry! what happened after they do double time travelling from 2028 to 2017?
Great question. So Seasons 1 -2 and then Season 3, Episodes 1-9 all take place prior to the snap in May, 2018. Then, Season 3, Episode 10 starts in 2028, goes back to May, 2021 (which is during the blip, but after 3 years, it makes sense that things are more normal looking), then goes to Oct, 2017 and finally back to redo episode 9 in May, 2018. So the only small portion that is during the blip is the very few scenes in May, 2021.
5:23 just watched this episode for the first time yesterday lol! I just got into daredevil and finished seasons 1-2 plus defenders. On season 3 episode 3 now!
I would assume in the sacred timeline any time travel we see is simply allowed by the TVA just like the Avengers time travel, so as many times as we see people time travel, there must be many more failed attempts in the MCU due to being blocked by the TVA or something.
Honestly, I don't think it matters. The only shows that are mcu canon and netflix shows. As much as I'd love for Cloak and Dagger to be canon and a miracle if they bring it back, it isn't. Its been clear they show what is canon and what timeline is based on heir placement in he MCU timeline on disney plus, anything not there just isn't canon. There was a lot of tension and strife between Jeph Loebe and Kevin Fiege on what was canon and not. and Jeph lost the war, and Fiege took full creative control and Jeph was left. So unless its something Fiege says post his take over in concern to the shows, it really just doesn't matter. So him saying in 2014 they might be the same continuity doesn't really mean anything anymore. And he made his statement by only making Netflix shows canon
@dylanchristopher119 Great feedback! Yeah, I am worried Runaways and Cloak & Dagger won't be added back to the sacred timeline, but never say never, since the Netflix shows were added back in. Also, even if Runaways and Cloak & Dagger remain as branches off the sacred timeline, it's still very helpful to know how they fit in. Anyway, thanks for the feedback on the vid. Really appreciate it!
I really hope all the pre disney+ shows get more confirmation of canonicity, either through being added to the disney+ timeline, references in other movies and shows, or even just Kevin Feige or some other marvel higher up reconfirming it
Maybe at some point I will try watching this show again, I tend to hear a lot of negativity about it and wasn't super impressed by the first episode of season one last year. Wait ... there is connective tissue with the Netflix shows? Huh. I know I think you've mentioned it in the past but actually seeing the images blows my mind. I am a bit confused on the three years part if the furthest point was 2028 though lol. Still great video as usual.
Yeah, that time travel stuff in the last episode was crazy. So episode 10 starts in 2028 and Chase then goes back to a point in time that is exactly 3 years after the end of episode 9 (i.e. May, 2021), then to the start of the series (i.e. Oct, 2017) and then back to the end of the series (i.e. May, 2018). Insanity!
The show isn't mind-blowing, But it's a good teen drama The real hook of the show isn't the superpowers, It's the relationships between the teens and the parents
@AbitofEverything4U this might happen, because Nico appeared in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man; the MCU essentially confirmed that Runaways is canon, at least in that universe. I hope so, because every major character needs to be in Doomsday and Secret Wars, but way more roles for Secret Wars.
I'm currently (re)watching the entire MCU in timeline order getting ready for Daredevil: Born Again and the new movies. I'm currently on JJ S2. I've never actually seen C&D or Runaways, if they're on D+ in the UK, I'll have to include them. Do they end on unresolved cliffhangers? If they do I may have to miss them again 😅
C&D has a conclusion. Runaways is mostly conclusive, although they do set up a plot thread in the last episode that never gets a follow up. It's basically a tease for comic fans who know who the character is
@CraigXJ87 Definitely check out Runaways and C&D if you are able. I enjoyed both shows. Runaways can be found here, if it isn't on your D+: www.cwtv.com/shows/runaways/. It has commercials, but at least it's free, which is nice.
Do you think if we see the runaways in future projects post secret wars they will be played by the same actors or get recasted? Also i have a feeling that even after the multiverse saga we'll still be seeing some time travel.
I'm strongly hoping that we get Okano as Nico back for whatever Midnight-Suns-type project they end up doing. Other than that I don't think the show's characters are especially likely to show up anywhere anyway
Runaways being a closeup to the mcu timeline. The show must be canon when they want her live action portrayal be connected to fans of it when they push her forth in the midnight sons
Brad winterbaum has made statements saying things like how he maybe plans to explore AOS after daredevil and how he likes figuring out where it is on the timeline so I think they will eventually get to every show they’re just taking it slow
It really feels like Daimon Helstrom popping up randomly in the current MCU era would work in just the same perfectly off-kilter way as Matt Ryan's Constantine popping back up in the DC Arrowverse. One of these days somebody's gonna need a demon expert and they'd better know who to call
Good point! I should have said 616 universe, but you are right about Logan's setting. Heck, ig Deadpool 2 took us into 2054 in the 10005 universe, for that matter.
Never seen any of these shows. I feel like there is too much to watch as there is. So until it’s official on the timeline I’m not going to bother. But looks like it fits perfectly in !
Yeah, I can totally understand not having time to watch the shows. I had a small window at one point a few years back, so I watched them when I had time and they are pretty decent. But if you never get around to it, it isn't a huge loss.
I don't think Helstrom was ever meant to be in the shared continuity. I think that was designed to be a parallel universe, along with the Ghost Rider show that was supposed to happen. As for the Disney+ timeline...I don't think Marvel manages their Disney+ page. I think that's handled by Disney+, and I don't know where they get their information from.
I agree...Helstom seems to be a different universe. As for the Disney+ timeline, Brad Winderbaum said that it reflects the canon for the MCU, which is why they added the Netflix shows to the timeline. Hopefully the other shows will get added in time. Fingers crossed!
@@AbitofEverything4U The timeline on D+ would get messy if one were to add Agents of SHIELD in proper viewing order, with "season 1 part 1". "season 1 part 2", "season1 part 3" and so on. They'd have to make whole new sub-playlists. Fitting it into canon is easy enough, but slotting it in with Thor 2, Cap 2 and Age of Ultron in the right positions would be complicated. Can't just drag and drop the existing playlists, as either the movies would spoil the show or the show would spoil the movies. Especially Cap 2.
Unfortunately this show and most of the old Marvel Television shows aren’t canon anymore. But still fun to see where it fits within its own variant MCU timeline
Great question! This video covers the ABC shows timelines: ua-cam.com/video/dAgteDyx6MU/v-deo.html. Then, there are two small follow-on vids that are tagged at the end of the vid and they cover how Marvel made slight adjustments to where Winter Soldier and Iron Man 3 are on the timeline.
Agents of Shield seasons 1-5 take place in the original MCU timeline. Seasons 6 and 7 while still in MCU takes place in an alternate timeline. In the finale, they jump back to the OG timeline thanks the Fitz
@@giovannigiovanni.7220 I don't buy it because when they return at the end of S7 everything was exactly as they left t in S6, so either S6-7 was always in the main timeline or they never returned to the main timeline or SHIELD was never in the main timeline
I prefer her nature on the new Friendly Neighborhood show. Marvel to put her in the ranks of the new champions would be really well testament of the hulu show
Damn the copy of your timeline that I am in the middle of watching with my gf is now outdated, I am going to have to redownload it and fix it all up again
@@AbitofEverything4U Hey, I am all for it, I am really happy to see Kevin in that interview talking about Runaways, The Defenders, and Civil war all in the same sitting.
I definitely trust the Wiki with my life; my timelines are from the Wiki, unless it gets retconned. So, Runaways taking place after the Blip does make sense and it makes for some comedy.
Good question! I think the wiki team was split over the timeline placement ever since it was first implemented and after a few years of debates, the timeline was finally moved back so that most of it occurred prior to the blip. I do like the new timeline and I agree with you, I trust the wiki as it is a fantastic resource!
While I have never personally seen these shows or fully know what is in them. I personally would be against them being full main 616 MCU canon. I believe if these shows were to become canon, it creates too many plot holes on why these characters never showed up again or have not been found by other characters. But I don't want my belief to diminish your hope for it to become canon. I can see being like a branch timeline thing where not Sacred timeline canon but still could be watched like the Fox or Spider Man films.
Great feedback! Yeah, those are definitely very valid concerns. If nothing else, the shows could be considered branches off the sacred timeline and so I figured it's still nice to see how they fit into the timeline in the branch. Thanks so much for watching the vid and sharing your thoughts. Really appreciate it!
Soooo…. Morgan Le Fay from RUNAWAYS was canon!? Or from another universe? Maybe SECRET WARS will put ALL these shows in continuity, like CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS did with JSA and JLA (though they were from different universes) 😀
@ I think it will be revealed in FANTASTIC FOUR (2025) that that timeline IS the real Sacred Timeline, and that we’ve been following a variant/alternate timeline for almost 20 years (2008-2028). Maybe the NEW New York post-SECRET WARS will look like BladeRunner/Spider-Man 2099 😀
@HermosaFeCatolica Cool theories about the Sacred Timeline. Would be wild if it was never the way it was supposed to be, due to He Who Remains messing with it!
Great questions! So Runaways does fit into continuity without any real issues. It has a different version of the Darkhold, but that's okay since we learned in MoM that there are multiple copies. The only weird aspect is the time travel in the final episode. But otherwise, it fits in nicely. As for whether season 3 is good, there's no doubt that season 1 is the best. Season 2 is a slight drop off and season 3 is probably a slightly further drop off, but I did like Morgan Le Fay's appearance, as well as the Cloak & Dagger crossover.
@AbitofEverything4U I see. Im afraid i won't see it then. I don't think season 2 was bad, but i just lost interest so don't think it is worth it. Time is valuable you know. Anyways thanks for the explanation!
Yeah, sorry, going over the prize winners eats some of the time up front. So, I like put the chapters in there, so people can move past that first section if desired.
Cloak and Dagger are in 616 sacred timeline in the MCU, and I wonder why it's not in Disney+. So season 1 is starting in February 2017 and ends with March and season 2 a couple of months later in October and ends with December 2017. The Runaways are not in the MCU he has but the calendar why it has multiple 29 and all the way December if that makes no sense, but also it is so funny a lot, but it was a mistake. And now, during December 2017, problem solve but wait. No, it's not. It is October 2017, not problem solve. Season 2 is starting December 2017, and then, in February 2018, and problem solve. But no, it's not a problem solved during October 2017 and some a month later in November. All right, season 3 of The Runaways during February 2018 a couple of months later during August problem solve again, now. Wait, what November and 2017 and a couple of months later in May 2018 before the snap? Finally, Cloak and Dagger are having a crossover episode in The Runaways. Why all of them end up in a future on June 2028 for The Runaways and the problem is, isn't before or after Secret Wars The Battle it could be over or not, but we'll see about that. Time travel, all of them can go whatever they want, and they confuse a lot a little bit, not so ever. And speaking not so ever he makes a time travel device and go to the Future on June 14th, 2018, but the problem it is, is it before or after Secret Wars, but we'll see about that. I'll say yes because that is the right place for helstrom in October 2020 and came after the snap from Infinity War. Why are they not in the MCU for all of them. It's going to be tied together. They're in the MCU because helstrom is tied together from Avengers: Age of Ultron, Civil War, and the newspaper all of them.
If the Runaways show up in movies, i hope they keep the cast, They all really felt like perfect casting, Nico in particular felt like her actress was the character Runaways doesn't need a full reboot
That's one thing I've been noticing as I fill in the gaps with all these oddball Marvel projects - aside from the occasional composite-character villain that intentionally doesn't resemble their comic namesake, Marvel's casting is consistently really, really strong. I end up feeling attached to everybody to the point that I wouldn't want to see anybody recast, at least not within a given timeline.
Good question! So, at one point all the early shows were considered part of the sacred timeline. Then, it seems Marvel moved all the pre-Disney+ shows out of canon. But with the Netflix shows returning, there a chance more will be pulled back in. So I wanted to share how the timelines fit together in case that happens.

Im crying bro the fact we had to try and figure out the timeline of runaways through star wars battlefront is hilarious 😭😭

I agree...fits really well!
I’ve been rewatching the MCU in chronological order since last May and I’m literally in the October 2017 timeframe with Iron Fist S2 right now, so this came out at a very fortunate time.
Niiiiiiice! That's awesome!
18:00 I have a relatively good explanation for all the inconsistencies with time trivial: Different methods applied means different rules come with it. Remember EG used the quantum realm(kang’s domain) so it makes perfect sense that method would create branches and more opportunities for kang to rise up.
Cabel’s time watch doesn’t seem to use the quantum realm at all(perhaps without an ant-man or hank pym quantum physicist is’t that far along in the FOX universe) so no branches
DOFP only the mind was sent back so again it wouldn’t be a branch or the TVA wouldn’t prune it.
When the time travel here seems to not use the quantum realm so no branches DOFP only
I think that's a great way to explain the time travel differences. Nicely done!
In Agents of Shield you also have the monoliths.
I don't know why there can't just be multiple ways and rules of time travel lol
That's a really good explanation
Cable's time machine only affects the Fox universe, not the MCU.
I don't like they change Cables device to time travel to universal travel.
If you don't change the narrative, you wouldn't cause a branch. As simple as that. Fox version is different bcz it's a different universe altogether.
@@AbitofEverything4UI hope it is although I haven’t seen that attention
YAY WE’RE TALKING ABT RUNAWAYS AND C&D!!!
Love those shows!
I agree...I really like this new placement!
Man, I didn't realize Cloak and Dagger and Runaways were connected to the Defenders. Kinda weird that they don't get a timeline placement yet. Same with AoS.
Yeah, I love how interconnected the pre-Disney+ shows were. Would love to see Marvel add them back into the sacred timeline at some point.

•YFNH Spider-man is an alternate timeline but still based on Tom Hardy’s Spider-Man so I placed it here, because it adds to the spider-man portion of the multiverse saga; even though it’s not considered canon. (Edit: I moved the series to this slot based on the appearance of Dr. Strange and what he mentioned in regards to being in that universe).

I know Feige said the Marvel television projects were on the "outskirts of continuity" back in 2014 but their actions strongly point that Marvel Studios never cared much for Marvel television and they were just being nice or forced by Disney to pretend it was all connected.
Everyone just got lucky that almost all show timelines ended pre-snap
Brad Winderbaum's comments on how they decided on making the Netflix shows canon implies that "TV shows are canon" are not the default way of thinking at the studio and it wasn't until the creative overhaul were they open to accepting the Netflix shows.
What are you talking about I have numerous clips of Feigie reaffirming their canonicity over the years
And even Feigie saying in 2020 that he respects those shows because they’re loved by fans
So they’ve always been treated as canon also the shows have been referenced in subtle ways in the movies
I think it would be neat if they would confirm these shows and AOS as canon to the timeline already since secret wars is likely to do a soft reboot - might as well stack everything into the current timeline before a reset
Yeah, I think alot of fans would agree on that!
been saying this for years especially since they added the netflix shows into canon
Agreed. Since The Defenders are becoming more connected now with Daredevil: Born Again maybe we’ll finally get them in the prime MCU.
Another great rundown! Thanks so much!
Thanks! Really appreciate the positive feedback!
Your Disney+ Marvel Television series sounds awesome!
Yeah, the wiki is amazing! And dang it, can't believe I said the wrong thing about Amy. Sorry about that.
Spoiler:
In one of the new episodes of ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ the version of Nico Minoru has her parents as her background on her phone.
I remember I was about to watch Runaways before it disappeared from Disney+, I was so bummed! Hopefully I can find a way to watch it elsewhere
Good news...you can find the show here: www.cwtv.com/shows/runaways/. There are commercials, but otherwise it's totally free.
@ Whoa, thank you so much dude! I wasn’t expecting this for a birthday present! 🤭👍
Oh, great point! I should have said that it was in February in 2017. Thanks for pointing that out.
Wow I always thought that Misty line in C&D was a random Easter egg but I never noticed how she’s mentioned in Luke Cage! That’s a great connection right there. C&D is super underrated.
ikr? Isn't that so cool!
Yeah, I don't quite get why Marvel doesn't add them back into the sacred timeline, tbh.
How are Agent Carter, Agents of SHIELD and Inhumans canon?
@@ozby11 Watch the show
As someone that hasn’t seen them, how do What If and the new Spider-Man show confirm this?
Also the Nico having her One Staff popping up the the Dr. Strange 2016 film was cool.
Great point!
Thanks for posting this , it’ll help out a lot if any one wants to do a rewatch for the next avengers film .
I agree...I love to see how everything fits in. Makes it feel even more connected!
Wanna know what I wonder what could be canon? The 1990 Captain America movie that featured Ronny Cox as the President! Have you ever seen that? You might enjoy it-similar look and feel to the 1994 Fantastic Four!
I need to do a review of that movie. Would be alot of fun!
@@AbitofEverything4U Oh yeah Loki did do that too didnt he! I miss Ben Ulrich too
I love the runaways. I hope they get a revival
That would be great!
I need more of these types of videos.
It's gonna take some getting used to, but this placement works a lot better.
I agree...I think this works so much better!
This is really interesting I haven’t seen this show in a while X3
Yeah, same for me. Haven't seen it in quite awhile. Good show!
Ye it really is I hope they add the other before Disney+ marvel shows and try to tie them to the MCU if possible ^w^
That’s a great way to look at it. I agree… Some of the final episode was after the blip and some was before the blip!
Haven’t watched any of these shows, will probably have to pick up soon to be a marvel master lol
Yeah, I'd recommend checking them out. They were pretty good!
I knew bro was legit when he pulled out the Star Wars Battlefront Beta
lol! Yeah, you know you're digging deep when you have to go into that level of detail!
The move is going to take some getting used to, but it does make significantly more sense.
Yeah, I do like the new timeline. It threw me off at first, but it really does make so much more sense!
@AbitofEverything4U awesome! Thank you!
I agree, I like the new timeline placement. And I'd be down for Helstrom being canon. It seems to fit just fine in 2020.
Awesome video as always! Could you do a review of the TVA comics? It seems that it is a crossover with the MCU and the comics universe
The new placement puts it before
@@eagc7 IW?
Great question. So Seasons 1 -2 and then Season 3, Episodes 1-9 all take place prior to the snap in May, 2018. Then, Season 3, Episode 10 starts in 2028, goes back to May, 2021 (which is during the blip, but after 3 years, it makes sense that things are more normal looking), then goes to Oct, 2017 and finally back to redo episode 9 in May, 2018. So the only small portion that is during the blip is the very few scenes in May, 2021.
The timeline keeper and the prop master need to be in better communication.
lol…they do indeed!
5:23 just watched this episode for the first time yesterday lol! I just got into daredevil and finished seasons 1-2 plus defenders. On season 3 episode 3 now!
Niiiiice! You're almost done with the Daredevil series...just in time for Born Again!
@@AbitofEverything4Uikr
I would assume in the sacred timeline any time travel we see is simply allowed by the TVA just like the Avengers time travel, so as many times as we see people time travel, there must be many more failed attempts in the MCU due to being blocked by the TVA or something.
Good points. Yeah, that could definitely explain all the time travel we've seen.
Hoping Mcu bought runway and Cloak and dagger, also agent of shied into Mcu
I agree...that would be awesome!
I think that makes sense, but the fact that Netflix was added only recently makes it seem like a decision can always be made in the future
I really hope all the pre disney+ shows get more confirmation of canonicity, either through being added to the disney+ timeline, references in other movies and shows, or even just Kevin Feige or some other marvel higher up reconfirming it
I agree...hoping we see more of them get the Netflix show treatment!
May, 2018). Insanity!
The show isn't mind-blowing, But it's a good teen drama
The real hook of the show isn't the superpowers, It's the relationships between the teens and the parents
14:05 six what?
Meant to say 6 months. Did I mess that up? If so, my apologize on that.
@@AbitofEverything4U six… SIX MONTHS?
I pray that Cloak and Dagger and Runaways at least make it into Secret Wars or at least the new post Secret Wars universe
I agree...we really need to see them again. Great characters! Also, thanks so much for being a member of the channel. Truly appreciate the support!
@AbitofEverything4U this might happen, because Nico appeared in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man; the MCU essentially confirmed that Runaways is canon, at least in that universe. I hope so, because every major character needs to be in Doomsday and Secret Wars, but way more roles for Secret Wars.
thank you so much. you earned a sub and a like from me!
Thanks so much for your support. Truly appreciate it!
Thought this was going to be about Nico showing up in YFNS before clicking. Glad it wasn’t 😅
Yeah, I love that Nico is in YFNS. It may help Runaways get added back to the sacred timeline!
@ she’s my fav comic character! I’m just glad it doesn’t mess with any MCU continuity because that would be a mess. Let’s hope we see her again soon!
I miss Runaways. Lol
Yeah, really good show. At least we can still watch it for free here: www.cwtv.com/shows/runaways/, although there are commercials.

@lawznwdsc I agree with @LuigiHann that we might see Nico return, but that's probably it. Bummer, as the show was really good!
@@AbitofEverything4U Yeah, having Nico return for Midnight-Sons would be so cool. I've heard good things about it but never watched it.
Runaways being a closeup to the mcu timeline. The show must be canon when they want her live action portrayal be connected to fans of it when they push her forth in the midnight sons
Brad winterbaum has made statements saying things like how he maybe plans to explore AOS after daredevil and how he likes figuring out where it is on the timeline so I think they will eventually get to every show they’re just taking it slow
ohhh man, really hoping that we see Daimon and Ana Helstrom officially in the mcu!!!!!!
ikr? With all the discussion around a Midnight Sons show/movie, the time is perfect for Helstrom to arrive!
It really feels like Daimon Helstrom popping up randomly in the current MCU era would work in just the same perfectly off-kilter way as Matt Ryan's Constantine popping back up in the DC Arrowverse. One of these days somebody's gonna need a demon expert and they'd better know who to call
@ AWESOMEEE, you know that what i’m talking about, when it’s time for some demons, HELSTROM better be there !!!
16:20 actually the farthest we’ve been in the timeline wouldve been earth 10005 in deadpool 3 since that universe is in 2029
I just wish we could do this with Agents of Shield...
Yeah, would be great if we could move it before the blip as well.
I liked the Helstrom show. I wish it could have finished.
Yeah, it was a bummer that it got cancelled. Had alot of promise.
You describe Nico's sister as Alex's sister a couple of times there.
Oh my, I do? That was definitely an accident. Sorry about that!
@@AbitofEverything4U It's definitely overshadowed by the Star Wars Battlefront of it all
Unfortunately this show and most of the old Marvel Television shows aren’t canon anymore. But still fun to see where it fits within its own variant MCU timeline
Yeah, I agree, whether they are in the sacred timeline or not, it's nice to know how it all fits together!
And where does all the seasons of Agents of Shield and inhumans fits in the timeline?
Ugh...sorry about that. Good news is it's a small change, but yeah, it definitely shifted a few things around.
@@AbitofEverything4U Hey, I am all for it, I am really happy to see Kevin in that interview talking about Runaways, The Defenders, and Civil war all in the same sitting.
@ 7:50 You say blip but I think you mean snap (correct me if I am wrong), I think you did it a couple videos back too but I didn't say anything
Jeph Loeb did a good rebound for the show I assume on the multiple scenarios of time being messed from the characters.
It seems weird that they updated the timeline just at random. I wonder why it did.
Hey dude have you saw the teaser of fantastic four
Yeah, it was pretty cool! Can't wait for the trailer tomorrow!
Soooo…. Morgan Le Fay from RUNAWAYS was canon!? Or from another universe?
Maybe SECRET WARS will put ALL these shows in continuity, like CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS did with JSA and JLA (though they were from different universes) 😀
If the shows end up confirmed as Sacred Timeline canon, then yeah Morgan le Fay is canon
Does The Runaways even fit into the continuity? Is season 3 good btw? I watched season 1 and liked it a lot, but fell off at season 2.
Have you checked out the Geekritique Marvel Timeline? He does a good job of laying it all out
Love Geekritique's work. He does a great job!
Video starts at 0:57
Yeah, sorry, going over the prize winners eats some of the time up front. So, I like put the chapters in there, so people can move past that first section if desired.
What of new timeline is this?
The new and improved one...less calories, but all the flavor!
I saw something where someone speculated cloak and dagger took place in 2015
Cloak and Dagger are in 616 sacred timeline in the MCU, and I wonder why it's not in Disney+.
I agree...I'd love to see these shows get added to the D+ timeline!
However this becomes canon I assure the new MCU with her in that and not the Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman is just creative
If the Runaways show up in movies, i hope they keep the cast, They all really felt like perfect casting, Nico in particular felt like her actress was the character
Runaways doesn't need a full reboot
I agree, the runaways cast was phenomenal...and Nico was a standout!
It's a shame Agents Of Shield isn't canon to the mcu.
ikr? Maybe Marvel will change their mind like they did with the Netflix shows!
It’s in the mcu??
Good question! So, at one point all the early shows were considered part of the sacred timeline. Then, it seems Marvel moved all the pre-Disney+ shows out of canon. But with the Netflix shows returning, there a chance more will be pulled back in. So I wanted to share how the timelines fit together in case that happens.
Yes
