  • Below you'll find complete instructions as well as products used in making this video. So sorry I call the puffin a puffer....I'm terrible with names....
    I always have issues with my glue tips getting clogged and not being able to keep the glue running, so I decided to make a video with my latest trials...
    I bought the Stopper Topper to keep my Bearly Art Glue black tip stopped...here's a link to the store where I bought it on Etsy. www.etsy.com/s...
    I was in my local Dollar Tree and found this adorable bird planter in the plant section where you'd find plastic succulents and I thought it would be perfect for holding my Tombow Mono Aqua Glue bottle. There must be a total of eight options, but my store only had the bird and the walrus...link: www.dollartree... and www.dollartree... I really liked the sloth, but couldn't find it in my store.
    You'll need a lot of hot glue sticks and E6000 glue as hot glue will sometimes release off of glass or ceramic if it goes from warm to cold and so the E6000 coating the bottom inside of the planter, ensures that the hot glue and the E6000 together will hold on the ceramic. I added a lot of hot glue in the inside center of the planter and then set the lid of the glue bottle well submerged in hot glue...you'd want to cover about half of the lid so once the glue sets, it will hold the glue bottle and will allow you to unscrew the bottle and the lid will always stay inside the planter, and this ensures the glue is always ready to be used and you don't have to shake it a lot to get the glue to come out of the bottle... If you get hot glue on the outside of the planter, use your heat tool and re heat the hot glue and then wipe it off with a cloth.
    I'll let you know if the Stopper Topper works for the Bearly Art Glue. I did try the Standify on Amazon after contacting the owners of Bearly Art Glue and asking for a stopper for the black tip. I didn't love the Standify as you are supposed to keep the open tip of the glue bottle in the foam at the base of the Standify and sometimes I wouldn't get the tip to sit directly onto the foam and glue would seep out and I hated that. Plus the Standify always seemed to be in my way and I just didn't like it.

      Tim Holtz used to recommend the plastic strip that comes on clothes with a price tag, but that's too thin. Is there a certain thickness of weedeater string that works with the Bearly Art Glue? I'm not happy with the Topper Stopper, as that pin isn't long enough or quite thick enough to make sure it doesn't clog... I love your idea and hope you can help with the thickness that works best.

It's same size as inside of an 18g needle which is basically what their precision tip basically uses. The string is nylon, and the glue slides right off of it dries. A jumbo paperclip may also work depending on the manufacturer lol

    I don’t think it matters what you glue the glue cap into, I use a 2inch plastic medicine jar cover, a jam jar cover would work well too. I haven’t had any problem with it coming apart but combining the hot glue with the E6000 should also keep it secure. I also make sure the hot glue goes up high on the glue cap too. Thanks so much for your ideas. I wanted the planter to hold the lid permanently, so I could unscrew it and then the glue's always at the tip and I can simply set the bottle back inside the lid in between uses. I had used marbles to hold my glue bottles in the past and it worked to hold the glue upside down, but it didn't allow me to be able to easily access the glue without taking the whole bottle out of the marbles, including the lid...hope that made some sense. And it's fine with me that you said planner, as I knew exactly what you meant and we all make those kinds of mistakes. Sandy

    I was watching a different video about bearly art glue and this was recommended, I'm so glad I watched it and found your channel! Dollar tree also sells a few different versions of those animals that are super cute, I have a squirrel one and a cat (and also bought them for my stepmom who is obsessed with squirrels). I'm gonna buy another one tomorrow to make a glue holder, thank you! I was thinking that the gorilla brand hot glue gun sticks might help?

    • @craftingforalmosteveryone
      @craftingforalmosteveryone  Рік тому

      I don't buy the Gorilla glue hot glue sticks as they are so much more expensive than the ones from Joanns....but, I've learned from others that hot glue doesn't bond to glass like you'd think it would, and when you go from hot to cold or cold to hot, it lets go, so that's why I recommend the E6000 under the hot glue. You need the hot glue to almost encompass the lid of your glue, so that's why I use both. I love the little animals and our DT hasn't had any since I found this bird which is a bummer...
      I think you'll like your glue holder...Sandy

    • @craftingforalmosteveryone
      @craftingforalmosteveryone  11 місяців тому +1

      I found it was too tricky to get enough glue on the top to get it so stick to the bottom. You need a LOT of hot glue to make this stick. I also recommend, if I didn't say this in the video, to add a small amount of E6000 to the bottom of the planter, as hot glue and glass sometimes don't like temperature changes from season to season, and will let go. You'll be surprised at the amount of hot glue it will take to make sure the lid stays firmly in place..you need a hill of it, if that makes sense. Thanks for the question and so glad you liked the demo . Sandy

    Cute glue holder from the little planter. I’ve never used one. I use Art Glitter glue and the stainless steel pin. To be such a tiny hole it can dry so quick, which is irritating. I know you have to put the pin back when you finish, but it tries to dry while I’m sitting it for a second while I get ready to glue the next thing. Anybody got a solution for that? Old eyes and constantly trying to hit that tiny hole makes for frustration.

      That's one of the reasons I stopped using the fine tip applicators, and the same with the Bearly Art glue fine tip...the black tip is much easier for me to use but still it gets a little clogged, at least the tip is larger, so I can insert the pin that came with the Topper Stopper, but wish it was a longer pin, as I think it would work better if the pin was longer, just my 2 cents...Sandy

    • @craftingforalmosteveryone
      @craftingforalmosteveryone  6 місяців тому

      Not yet. I've tried a variety of ideas, but none that made me happy. On their site they show a pin to go inside, but if it's the same as when I got mine, it's not thick enough to stop the glue from drying out. I think they expect you to use it daily so drying out is not an issue...but here's the link in case you want to think about it. bearly.art/products/tip-kit?pr_prod_strat=jac&pr_rec_id=d5f86effe&pr_rec_pid=4438534389831&pr_ref_pid=4325292245063&pr_seq=uniform What's needed is a thicker pin as their pins are just to thin. I was thinking of trying a plastic pin that came with a craft kit I bought and putting ribbon through the eyelet to keep it from falling in. If it works, I'll make a video about it.

    MY nightmare glue is bearly art glue, it globs when I am trying to make a card, I can’t get more than one line of glue out of the thing..

    • @craftingforalmosteveryone
      @craftingforalmosteveryone  11 днів тому

      That's weird. Have you contacted the company and told them your problem? Or, is there a chance you left the pin or closure off so the glue got thick inside the lid? If so I'd take off the lid and scrape out any globs around the sides and make sure you run hot water through the tip to get it cleared out and then, if your glue is still thick, I'd put a tablespoon of super hot water into it and shake it well to thin it out and if that doesn't work, I'd call the company and ask for advice. I personally can't use any needle tips as I don't have the strength to squeeze them and heard Lindsay the frugal crafter say she can't use them either because she doesn't use glue often enough and they get clogged on her, so she recommends these bottles from the dollar tree instead of using the fine tip bottles www.dollartree.com/jot-squeeze-applicator-bottles-2ct-packs/288579
      Hope this helps as I get SO frustrated with glue too.
