There are a lot of street photographers, she is a humanist photographer. And a brilliant one.
@Blood Flows please explain.
This is a video that confirms the value of UA-cam. Thank you for creating.
She really is brilliant.
@@sirgigolo at exploiting and giving nothing back.
Although it is advertisement .. haven‘t heared so many smart things in so little time for quite a while. Thank‘s for that!
A very strong story teller. I love the way Suzanne engage with people.
by taking, and giving nothing back
What a fearless, talented, inspiring artist...incredible images!
fearless? what would she be afraid of.... oh yeah, giving anything back.
I have been working the streets all over the world for over 50 years and every day I go out I feel nervous untill i am in the grove.
It was nice to look and listen to Suzanne.
Stay safe everyone.
I really enjoyed this short documentary on Suzanne's work. It shows how a camera can be used to create a link between the street photographer and the subject. Gaining the consent of the strangers you photograph makes a considerable difference to the ethics of street photography, especially those photographers like myself who always question to what extent we have the right to photograph people in the street.
I also try to engage with people I photograph and whilst I am nowhere near as competent as Suzanne, my resulting pictures evoke a memory to me, of the brief encounters that I have.
I found this video to be both educational and inspiring. Thanks.
I hope you give back more than she does.
This is absolutely stunning. Loved her perspective.
Suzanne- I love your approach to "street" photography. By actually talking to people, you show a respect for them. And your work is outstanding. BTW- very cool hamza!
"I was always worried about looking weird, I don't care about looking weird anymore, I know I look weird. You really do have to be willing to put yourself out there."-- this is so true and so inspiring, thank you.
Great work in the vein of Mary Ellen Mark. One of the X-series best videos yet, phenomenal photos. It is sad and worrying about Jeanette though, and likewise those in similar circumstances. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on Suzanne Stein's work.
Or Vivian Maier!
Great video, really well done and very moving. I particularly like the section on Jeanette. It is very clear you have formed a relationship with Jeanette and were not simply exploiting her. In relation to asking people if you can take their portrait, I have only ever had 2 people refuse and I have probably asked over 100 people. In my experience most people are quite flattered to have a portrait taken especially if you ask them in a sensitive and genuine way. Finally, the Fujifilm X100 is the camera that has reignited my interest in photography. What a great little camera, its put the fun back in photography for me.
This is one of the most impressive video's I have seen. Suzanne's look on the world and the people is really inspiring. She makes such great photo's. Lot’s of greetings, Dennis 🇳🇱
A really stunning video Suzanne. Interacting with your subjects is priceless. Thank you!
Beautiful work Suzanne! No matter how people might think, I sincerely love your process. It gives more depth to the story, which you captured beautifully.
Ah..remember when the streets had people on them.
This was really inspiring to watch. Thanks Suzanne, thanks Fuji. Jan.
Beautiful Images, great subjects, love her art. Thanks for making this video.
Suzanne pictures are so great because she likes people, amazing work !!!!
Outstanding Commentary & Photos that is the best Dynamic Fresh ART I've seen to date - BRAVO
Loved this - what an awesome photographer with a strong and respectful perspective
respectful? how about not just exploiting, but giving something back, making an effort. Find her name attached to any charity or support group at all.
I love this video. A great insight into Ms Steins approach to photography. This inspires me to go shoot. Thanks Fuji and thanks Ms Stein.....
Great photography with integrity.
Great video, echoed my philosophy on street photography. Respectful and compassionate and not showing more people just walking through another diagonal shaft of light.
Another fan here, great way of shooting. Much respect.
so detached exploitation cool.
An ad for Fuji - but a wonderful perspective of Suzanne. I have been following her amazing images on Instagram for some time now, and find it very inspiring for my own street work. Kudos
so you lionize a woman who exploits the downtrodden and gives zero back? cool.
Superb and emotive work Susanne
What a wonderful presentation of philosophy, personality, and style.
Suzanne, thanks for giving us a view of your thoughts and the world on the street. I agree there are lots of great stories on the street. I love to take my small cameras and explore the street. I hope the streets get filled again with life and adventure . I have connected with you on Instagram . Stay Health & Safe
I share the same philosophy in life Suzanne, though I live in a less varied 'mosaic'. You're obviously a lovely human being. Why anybody should take the time to watch this and put a thumbs down is beyond me. My advice to them is go get a camera and try doing the same. You'll find it a humbling experience
She's gooooood!!!! Job well done Fuji!
Love your work Suzanne
Very inspirational - I come back to this whenever I need a boost to get out and shoot.
Fab approach and great images, loved it Suzzanne. Thanks for the video. Love from Wales (UK)
Astonishing images by someone with courage, vision and purpose! Wow!
the courage to exploit poverty and disenfranchisement while giving exactly nothing back? Coool. wait, what was that purpose? hey good pictures though, so that makes it OK.
@@editor4958 Slow news day Ed? My comment was 11 months ago, but your reply at least shows she is raising awareness with her work. And you do what, besides comment on You Tube?
A wonderful little film, thank you.
It's amazing that you shoot not because they are "different", but in a way of inclusive.
Great point of view
Wow, that brought a tear to my eye, truly inspirational. Thank you!
Love your work and attitude to your craft.....the camera is sometimes a passport into a world most folk don’t even see as they pass by. I have found that as I have gotten older and just carry a small Fuji that people do not feel threatened and welcome someone to talk with and treat them as the normal folk they are....90% are happy to be photographed but I still stop and chat with the few who say “no” every time I come across them....photography is only a part of the journey and we should always remember that.....I’m doing an instagram project “facesofbelfastandbeyond”....out of the shadows which aren’t even there....people too easily missed as we pass by.....Keep up the good work, Suzanne...
Documenting the forgotten is noble. isn't she just exploiting though? It is all take and no give. Find her name associated with one support group, charity or even a public statement for help and change. Nothing. Nada. yeah, go take another picture for your career.
Suzanne ! You do a great job to set a spotlight on the poor and forgotten people in US. There are too many poor people and too many rich people in US. In Denmark, where I live, there are free social and healthy security. The rich is not so rich and the poor are not so poor. I wish that will happen in US one day. OK I pay a high tax, but I also get a lot for the tax. Free education, free hospitals, money if you don´t have a work, or you can´t work. A woman like the one in the video could live for free at a public "old people´s home" where some nurses, doctors and so on could take care of her, so she don´t need to be in that situation.
Powerful photos, Suzanne!
I love these short insight films that Fuji make!
Wonderful work and wonderfully articulated
Great stuff Suzanne.) & Fuji for the win.)
You’re just amazing. Special artist and human being. And yes I’m getting the 100V. Today. Thank you.
Great series. I wish i had this much confidence. Amazing work!!
truly amazing
Fujifilm is truly the home for photographers.
what an inspiration for amateur photographers like myself who loves to do street and semi documentary photography. Very nice camera by the way.
how about being inspired to do more than exploit, but help make a difference.
I think the guy leaning against the wall - at 4:43 - has just become one of my all-time favourite images!
This is one of the best en most impressive video of the last time. You have it in je fingers greet photographer
Grreat photography work, really like her approach....
Really powerful images; I aspire to that. Thank you for the inspiration.
Wow. Thanks for this. Your approach is inspiring. So glad I happened upon this video!
The world used to look like that, everyone so close together not six feet apart.
Incredible and heavy. Great story.
I love hearing her speak. Wonderful.
Damn her pictures are powerful and tell a story. This is the type of photographer I aspire to be.
maybe aspire to be a person that does more than just exploit. How about Making beautiful images and giving something back. Find her name associated with any support group or charity. Nothing.
Hi Susan, I really like your approach, your philosophy and your pictures. Only new to the x100v, but really loving the camera. The size, weight, quality and especially the fixed lens. Thanks for posting and happy shooting
L
Incredible images !!!!
Excellent !! this approach on people, she and very delicate this photographer I am wishing superb photo, especially what pay attention to it
Some great photos! Thanks.
WOW. I'm speachless!!
Awesome video and stills. As an x100 system user I’m itching to get the V but to be honest my F is still producing the goods for me. I shoot street and landscapes with it I love the 35mm view tho I may splash out for the wide conversion lens. Great work mate. 📷❤️
Excellent video
Amazing images... Thank you!!
she is authentic. great photographer.
I'm so happy to see that real artists can express their talent brightly without buying a $5000 summilux 35mm focal lens on a $8000 Leica M body... Indeed, contrary to what some claim, a M is sold neither with talent nor with inspiration (I had many...). Thanks Fuji for this excellent camera. And cheer Suzanne for your pictures.
very important to focus on the money and the gear. It relieves the guilt of exploiting the downtrodden for cash and giving exactly zero back. but hey, cool pictures right?
Love this. Very poignant powerful and thoughtful.
Awesome, sensitive, creative pictures
beautiful video. Thanks!
Thank you, great video,
I like your pictures alot
she's got great character and a good vision!
I have to say, I was very impressed with this video. Thank you for posting. I would love to see more photos in B&W's, they (IMO) bring "more" out.
great series but i wonder why you don't link the photographers in the description. would be a great appreciation.
This is so inspirational! Need to work on my documentary shooting!
Love this, as long as the underlying intention stays at sincerity and honesty!
Wow, amazing photographer
I love it.
Ms. Stein might appreciate the "Soft White Underbelly" channel on UA-cam. The interview subject matter is very gritty and sometimes very distressing. The still images that appear once within each video are shot on very large-format b&w film.
great images of great people! really heart going work
Beautiful video.
It’s critically to represent our world the way it is. A lot of us can learn from this sentiment.
Love your ethos, love your work - poetic.
what's the ethos? "I'll exploit your tragedy?" "Ill make a commercial for Fuji using your pain" find a single charity or support group she is associated with. Nothing. Nada. Poetry? What rhymes with poverty porn.
Like your photographs and style.
You care! Thank you.
Powerful images!
Excellent work!
Clicked on this because of the X100V, 6 minutes later I was transferred to another dimension.
a dimension of exploiting without participation?
2:32 - Fantastic image.
Incredible, no other word for it.
Just magnificent
Love your review. I'm going to take your advice.
Very inspiring 🙏👍❤️
Great work!
Awsome photographer useing a very good camera!
This is incredible!
Technical question, it looks like she was using a conversion lens for the X100 at one point. Was it the wide or telephoto?
Mostly the wide
I tell folks all the time that the size of the camera makes no difference...I shoot in NYC with my full frame Pentax, and much of the time, people will even ask to be captured...It's all about energy and flow..
That was deep! 🥺
Great Video. I recently bought a FujiFilm XT200, and I have a question.
The dials the camera offers, for instance, "Adv, SR, A, M, P, etc; I never really know which one to use for a certain setting. I keep switching back and forth because both shots look good, and sometimes I cant tell the difference.
Any advice?
