This Chanel reminds me a lot of old game theory episodes. Not that I dislike lore but I missed putting real math in fictional worlds. Thank you so much for taking care of my math itch.
same! All of my favorite game theory stuff was math and science related, like the creeper video is one I remember fondly. Finding this channel made me really happy.
It technically is canonically NOT underneath the overworld, simply being a pocket dimension with that weird quirk, but given how perfectly everything lines up, I do think it comes to a point that any reasonable analysis of it, so that we can apply the most basic logic we know to be true in the real world, it may as well be the truth.
What if you get 8x bigger when go fro the magic nether portal. If the nether and the overworld are flat and are on top of one and another, no matter the distance ,them you would asume that the distence traveld would be the same, but is not. So maybe on block in nether is actully 8 times bigger or you know the portal just teleports itself around.
As a teacher myself, the best thing to do for comprehension is making the subject relatable. Which you did fantastically! Great job! And the edits made it even better 😂
Great vid! I loved the focus on teaching math. Unfortunate mishap with the block count, (There was one you missed too, 13:33) but stuff like that happens all the time.
Something I do want to mention that I've only really seen the start of this video is the overworld is never called the overworld in game and is more just a general gaming term. As for instances of the nether being called as the nether or the end being called as the end you have achievements you also have in stone and netherrack nether brick and netherite, also nether gold ore
I commented this on his last minecraft video: "I've also heard a theory that I like that states that the nether is the center of the minecraft world. Here's why that would make sense: One: Travelling one block in the nether is equal to traveling 8 blocks in the overworld. Why is that important? Well, say you somehow walked around the earth's core. To the surface, you would have travelled a larger distance because of how spheres work. Two: Below the bottom layer of the overworld is a void that seems forever. What is above the top of the nether? The same void. According to this theory, the reason you need a nether portal to travel to the nether is because of the incredibly large void that deals damage to you. This theory would also help the equations because the minecraft world would have a center instead of just being hollow."
I feel like theres a simpler solution. The total world is like 383 blocks tall, while its a rough guess because that includes the air. Simply take that number times 8, which is 3064. Each block is a meter which is roughly 3 feet cubed. So take 3064 times 3 equals 9192 feet deep too the nether if i did all my math properly.
i did Ro as 59,999,968(the length of a minecraft world) and got 52499972 blocks!!! or you can do the boring way, height limit to bedrock level (got me 384)
Disclaimer: this is just a theory of my own and it might be totally wrong both in concept and math. Ok so i'm about to ramble for a bit: Lets assume a spherical world and a kind of linearity (bear with me). the Ro = 8 * Rn stands true. The nether is made by two layers of bedrock with a bunch of sh*t in between. From the bottom layer to the top one the distance doesn't change, so we can assume that one block of the bottom layer of bedrock is equal to 8 bb in the overworld as with the top layer. Assuming that the distance covered by block is linear (so like there's a middle ground between ow and nether where 1 nether block is 1.5 block or something like that) you can't notice a difference in distance between the top layer and the bottom layer. So let's assume that in 5 time the total height we can percieve a difference of a 1:2 block distance between Nether:Middleground. Since we need to reach a 1:8 ratio this would mean that the bottom layer of bedrock in the overworld is 5*8*128 = 5120 block distant from the bottom bedrock layer in the Nether. Since in the overworld we can't sense a difference in distance between blocks from the layer of bedrock and the sky we could try to use the distance between the layer of bedrock and the upper building limit and obtain a distance between dimension of 15360 blocks but since you can fly infintely high without any noticible change I'd stick with the measure with the nether. Oc one block is equivalent to one meter so you can figure out the distance.
This assumption also means we will have to omit the bedrock border buildable area. However, IIRC the world border reaches towards the integer limit, so arounds 30 million blocks (multiply that by 2 since there is a positive and negative world limit) Using this information the Nether is approximately 52,500,000 blocks below the Overworld playable area, also omitting the void Edit: I'm an idiot! He already calculated it in the end. I was just following along lol
I don’t know if this is a “theory” so much as it is just a hypothetical scenario. IF the nether were under the over world (which it’s not), then this is for sure how deep it would be
who tf is bout to dig for 8355634.51232~ blocks? 29.6047141168~ hours of falling down, assuming you instantly reach minecraft's 78.4b/s(blocks per second) terminal velocity, but considering that takes a couple of seconds over a period of over than 100,000 seconds the difference would only show up at the 4th or 5th decimal place. btw the number i used for the depth(8355634.51232~) is precisely 210/8pi million.
i also dont know if this has any meaning, but would if help calculations if you knew minecraft sea level was y=62 and the bottom of the world was y=-64, and the edge of the atmosphere was y=320? (effectively making the very top of the overworld to the very bottom of the world 384 blocks)
Lol every time an edutainment channel like this uses math they have to use disclaimers about how "they won't do too much", or that "it's actually fun this time", but tbh, do you really think the people watching this channel wouldn't find the math fun anyway?
It's kinda funny that you're using real world math for a block game that clearly does not work in the same way as our world, take this as an example, the Minecraft sun is literally a square or a cube that is ALLWAYS facing the Minecraft world, there's also the fact that gravity exists in the End even though that can't happen in our world. Still a great video though 👍
This is not good. I have to ignore most of the things you say and have to watch and read everything in the video just to get the right informations. You know that some people just listen and maybe look sometimes.
13:33 There's still a thing you didn't fix...
If Richard wants to visit for a dropkick, we're having dinner at 6 pm :)
Hopefully Richard gets paid properly for working overtime
Paid?
Overtime?
Properly?
Richard?
Working?
With the introduction of the deep dark the origin of the overworld title has a new source. The nether is more like the warp from war hammer.
For the Emperor!

It’s interesting considering the Nether’s roof is made of bedrock.
Richards gonna need a raise for this one, or at least get to be let out of the basement for a day. :)
I’ll have you know that Richard works in a very passable attic!
poor Richard
It's funny how Richard almost managed to fix every single one.
This feels like old school Game Theory, love it!

you should definitely do more vids with math, your explainations are so easy to understand that you could create an entire channel just about it
lol

How was this man able to teach me math way better in this minecraft video than 12 years of public schooling?
5:21 Or sometimes in math you can use false information to prove that something else is true or false.
Great editing! I didn't notice anything weird in the video. Nope. Not at all!
Cool video, as usual!

5:55 Here lies TheChiptide... He died of calculated laziness...
13:10 I mean... I feel like you took a lot of steps to get to that answer when there was probably a simpler way to get 7/8..........

This video is gonna be a Banger like always
I loved this, great explanations of the math!
No joke, great explanation and presentation on the algebraic process. Much better than a few math teachers I've come across.

in vinilla minecraft its not underneath the overworld BUT if you get immersive portals and turn on dimention stack it can be underneath the overworld

Richard is more powerful than we thought, he can locate anyone...
halfway through this video and already loving it! such a good topic
Man, this is the only time I wish I was back in high school, so I could tell my physics teacher that calculated laziness joke XD
Richard missed one. He doesnt eat this week. Do better.
Edit: I'm not afraid of you Richard. Dropkick me if you can.
poor Richard. the editor notes are so good here. 😂
I love the dedication to fix your mistakes 🤣Poor Richard
Scooby doo did that
Never seen your minecraft vids but they seem good I'll watch more
13:31 you missed a 6 edit
He got dropkicked already, I was too late
fun fact : the end is above the overworld and the overworld is above the nether
very cool.
nice theory and all but.. the developers have sorta confirmed it's not under the overworld and theyre separate dimensions...
I don’t know if this is a “theory” so much as it is just a hypothetical scenario. IF the nether were under the over world (which it’s not), then this is for sure how deep it would be
@@TheChiptide thats fair! even though all the math in this video is technically wrong i enjoyed it a lot i must say
ahahahahahahaha love this channel so fun n funny i love it
Imagine a mod where you can actually dig into the nether like terrara

its a different dimension.
The Minecraft world is round and the laws of gravity say so!
I thought he was gonna say "but not as deep as your mom"
the video is just better with charlie having to voice over some of the parts its funnier
Very quick video it's under bedrock cus you can see the bedrock on the celling
Ok
dont say first 9 years olds
