I've been trying to get as much info on the O-VISA by watching as many videos as possible, this one is by far the most explicit and informative.
    Thanks for doing this.

You enter on the 1 month tourist visa, the next day head to an agent they will set up everything for you for around 35000 baht.. and within 28 days you get 15 months stay.. renew every year for usually half the amount..

merci pour ces informations . Des explications claires pour engager la premiere année de retraite. Question: Ils ne t'on pas demander une assurance sante locale pour le visa longstay ?

Very clear and concise explanation. The Thai Bank account doesn't need to be funded at all? How does the agency handle that? What about the health insurance? Is that still required?

You can also enter on a 1 month tourist and change over to non O retirement..

It's easier to get the single entry non-immigrant O visa online in UK (cost £60) - giving you 90 days to sort out your bank account, accommodation etc before applying for 1 year extension ie "retirement visa".

Can you advise on how the agent facilitates the 800K please? Mike

    • @TravellingCheddar100
      @TravellingCheddar100  5 місяців тому +2

That will depend on your agent. What I will say is that you do not need to deposit your own 800K. This is a conversation you should have with your agent early on.

Thank you for your informative video. I am planning to retire in Thailand at the end of this year. Is it possible to come in on the 30 day visa exemption and then apply? (Do a visa run to Cambodia if necessary?). I ask because I will be traveling on an Australian passport but will be arriving from USA. The Thai Embassy in Washington may not process the 60 day E visa for me because I don’t actually have residency. I am in USA on a special work visa which expires at the end of the year. Appreciate your advice. Thanks.

Thank you for the very clear way in which you have explained this. I am getting very close to doing this, I also wonder if you could give a little more detail about the bank account and the 800k baht, (how/when or do I transfer money into the bank), cheers and thanks again. Phil.

You will not need to deposit your own 800K into a bank account. Choose a good agent - there are many. They will arrange that for you. Keep your money in your home country bank account...

If you apply for visa in home country OA visa you do but if you apply in Thailand O visa you don't need it. OA is simple. Look at other comments.

Thanks for posting this video, very helpful indeed! One question - did you have a long-term accommodation address sorted when you went through the agent, or did he/she help with this?

Why pay 35000 baht for a 1900 baht visa , and what are all the people who don’t have the 800 k actually in their account going to do when the checks get tightened up , which is happening year on year , good luck on getting your visa to everyone, but I’d suggest going to your local immigration office and speak to them , £760 is a lot for a £42 visa ,

You have no worries using an agent to pay under the table to allow you to have a Visa without the 800k in an account ?

    • @uksoul2001

Use of an agent is a widespread method used by 1000s of retirees in Thailand. Agents and Immigration are intrinsically linked. Use a well established agent and you have no issues.

    • @MikeStoll-xt4qh

Chris is this correct? How does it work as I’ve seen other videos saying the deposit has to sit in the account for certain various periods of time?

@@MikeStoll-xt4qh I have never done this, but know it happens all over the country. They simply use the office account to prove you have the fund's.. obviously comes at a cost . That's as much as I know .
