Absolutely true. Micheal bought Ross Brawn and John Bernard and a whole heap of Bennetton guys over. Full credit though to John Todt, he was the one who protected them!
They really know how to mess things up... I never really realised this, but the people who risked and achieved most for them always got an awkward send-off.
Red Bull would be: -David Coulthard, crashed on his last race -Mark Webber, Multi 21 fiasco -Daniil Kvyat, replaced mid-season after crashes -Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon, replaced for poor performance
As always, Michele Alboreto got completely forgotten about. Ferrari made him lost the 1985 championship and then basically made him n.2 driver behind Berger. Their 1988 split was pure tension
Case in point, he was 3rd near the end of the Belgian GP at Spa when the engine failed. Instead of coming into the pits, he went round in a plum of blue smoke one more time (long lap, 7km), because "when the engine fails you like that, it's better to do one extra lap so you can feel how it disintegrates completely". That didn't go down well in the garage, but he was out for the following season anyway.
Vettel just attracted all the news towards him by announcing his move to Aston and that was a fitting reply to Ferrari for giving him a miserable season. What a legend.
I'll miss Seb in red, but it's best for him to go to a team that supports him and doesn't put so much pressure on him. But hey, it was good until 2019, right?
As much as I love Ferrari, I struggle to defend the out of control politics and general team ethos. The cold hard truth is they end up sabotaging themselves far more than their attitude helps them. They're a very successful team that could, should and would be the ultimate F1 team if only they all decided to push in the same direction.
Yeah they run things very old fashionly with hierarchies and what not, im glad the drivers are now treated less roughly and sainz being the bigger man and not stirring up in the garage
Title could be put too "Italian way" as they refer things too in Ferrari. Only legend they have is good drivers they just didn't listen well enough during years.
Ferrari is the reflection of Italy itself, and if it continues, it will only be a memory in history. It's really difficult to deal with italians to not say something worst.
Interesting video.. you gonna do one on some of the other teams now as well? Given Ferraris long tenure in the sport they're bound to have a fair number, but I can think of several teams who treated their drivers just as badly...
You are being very kind to the Scuderia over the Raikkonen split... Raikkonen being Ferraris latest champion and won in 2007 in nearly impossible and glorious terms after trailing Hamilton and Alonzo for most of the season was subjected to a smear where any photo of him partying would be met by Montezemolo openly questioning his commitment to racing... Raikkonen not only got his seat back in 2014 but he is probably the first and only driver who also got an apology for his treatment proceeding his exit... I think Montezomolos criticism has aged very poorly...
Just one hint about the pronounciation of Sebastian Vettels last name: speak Fettel. That is how we Germans pronounce it. More often than not the letter "v" is pronounced like a very harsh "f"
I think even the second departure of Räikönnen in 2018 was akward: After he had even challenged Vettel with one pole and one win as well as 9 consecutive podiums he had to go because Leclerc had signed an early contract and threatened to file a lawsuit. Although was glad to come back to Sauber, it could have been All so much more fair and square
No Luca Badoer? 10 years of faithful service as a test driver, was awarded with a drive of a shit car, then fired due to media pressure and replaced by Giancarlo Fisichella, who did no better
I like Ferrari, they are iconic in all racing. But damn they are toxic as hell. Poor Vettel's 2020 of distrust and awkwardness was plain and painful to watch. Just hope same does not come for Charles and Carlos.
🏁Question of the Year!🏁 How long before Charles Leclerc becomes disillusioned with Ferrari and wants out? It's a fair question given that Mattia Binotto has become "Maurizio Arrivabene 2.0" to Leclerc's role as "Seb Vettel 2.0" but without all Seb's mistakes, with one strategy blunder after another and the reality of no end in sight, once again becoming business as usual with the Scuderia. 😔
Even if Gilles Villeneuve didn't leave Ferrari, the backgrounds of his fatal crash in Zoelder could have led him to leave the team if he didn't passed on that terrible day. Also the short lived time at Ferrari of Ivan Capelli could make this list. Or the mentioned in the video Michele Alboreto.
His wife, Jo Anne said that Gilles would probably leave Ferrari at the end of 1982,given how he was treated there. Ferrari team principal at that time, Marco Picconini is the best man at Pironi's wedding, an event that Gilles wasn't even invited. That closeness means that there will be favourable decision in the direction of Didier. Once the trust is gone, then it's no good to continue at Maranello.
What is more impressive is after all the bad blood in his last year with Ferrari , Se made a whole song in Italian for the team and performed it after his last race over the radio. He still.managed to show passion for the screwderia
Rumors say that Ferrari fired Arnoux because they found out that He had a surgery in his right leg without informing the team about it, thus allowing Ferrari to sack him for breaking the contract on the terms of illness or health.
I have never liked Ferrari since I was little and I'll never be a tifosi no matter how irresistible the team is! I was a fan of Sebastian Vettel when he was winning races with Red Bull but that totally changed when he joined Ferrari in 2015! Why are most F1 drivers so obsessed with the idea of joining Ferrari to improve their records? I want Ferrari's records to be broken by non-Ferrari drivers, like McLaren did at the 1993 Australian Grand Prix!
Ferrari is the epitome of why the phrase "too big to fail" is so funny and and not indeed factual at all... Idk how you treat someone like Prost and Vettel like that. I love Ferrari but Ferrari is in its own way right now. Binotto does NOT seem to be helping.
I would say that few drivers leave Ferrari on their own terms. Prost being fired in 1991 before the end of the season, Vettel being informed that he was going to be out of a drive at the end of 2020 before racing even began, both of these are incredibly awkward ways to leave Ferrari
Well Mansell not only "felt" the favour treatment of Prost by that happened. Mansell set pole in France. Prost asked to have his car for the next race, british gp. And Mansell came to the box and felt the car was different. Well they gave his car to Prost!!!!! So Mansell set up the car as higher as he could on qualy and runned to win in race time but he had gearbox issues and he had to retire. Then he decided he had enough of that sh*t. Also lets not forget when Prost landed at Ferrari Mansell really admired him (check his autobiography and the new one) and also Prost checked that there were some team crew from Williams (Mansell came from Williams) but those guys were signed before even Mansell arrived. So Prost thought this was a Mansell move to make the team his. While Mansell did not do that. So Prost made Ferrari sign many workers from McLaren to own the team. And oh boy if he did.
Seb could have stayed and stepped in Kimi's role when unable to beat Charles purely on pace. He didn't accept and moved on! Ferrari would not offer another year or two if you don't accept proposed role in the team. Simple!

@Stealth Leopard Kimi and Seb worked well together and they were both experienced enough to set up the car as they like it but their driving styles are almost completely different
I already know that Prost is gonna be on here
Oh wow what a brave guess there

Admittedly that was a bit of a back and forth. Even if your engine is shite I don't think it does the team any good to say it to the press.

Well in 2009 kimi got involved in FERRARI POLITICS
Ferrari needed money due to the financial crisis of 2008
Santander a Spanish bank was ready to give some bank money but they had their terms 'we need Fernando in team' for advertising themselves with a Spanish driver
The deal was signed everything was done
Thanks god we saw both of them in the same car and we discovered who fighted for the championship with a "tractor" meanwhile the other one couldn't pass the Q1
They also kept Massa to advertise in South America, and Kimi lost out because they didn't need the Finnish market

Fernando way faster than Kimi.
1956, Juan Manuel Fangio. "We let Fangio go because we can't afford him". (Enzo Ferrari) That started it all...
Everyone goes to ferrari tryna be the next shumacher and ends up leaving dissapointed
Who knows this time ferrari have learnt their lesson and will prevent this from happening I have a sneaky feeling that their 2022 car would be extremely good and also I noticed their strategies and pit crew show improvement . I know Binotto is bad but still I have a feeling the rest of team will deliver next year plus selection of Carlos was a great choice
@@mo215300 we said the same when Vettel was joining the team and we know how toxic the relationship became with the team. When it comes to the 2022 car being good it's very unlikely since the big 3 teams will be struggling with the budget cap. I agree that Carlos is a decent replacement but I don't think him or Charles are gonna get anywhere with Ferrari.
@@ar-2284 let’s see your thinking is based on all these years of history . It really depends on whether Ferrari have finally leant their lesson or not
@@mo215300 they didn't change in 30+ years because of their ego, why would they change now. They will probably end up making another Vettel esq relationship with Charles and then drop him in the coming years.
The thing is that paired up with Schumacher's INCREDIBLE talent he had good management to back him
Todt and Brawn were right behind him.
Jean Alesi: Am I unemployed?
Ferrari: We are checking...
Fun fact. Kimi earn more than any other F1 driver in 2010. When he didn't even drive at all.. :D

Wrong, both Alonso and Hamilton earned more.
The fact that some of f1s goats never one a title shows how good Michel was and just how hard it’s to impress Ferrari
Bruh he was their first driver for a long time just like ham now
he basically brought his Benetton championship over to make it work
It also shows how shit Ferrari is at driver treatment. Sebastian was a 4 time world champ before joining Ferrari.
Let's be honest if it wasn't for Micheal.. Ferrari would still have no titles
Absolutely true. Micheal bought Ross Brawn and John Bernard and a whole heap of Bennetton guys over. Full credit though to John Todt, he was the one who protected them!

RB would be a complete video about destroyed careers😂
Red Bull would be:
-David Coulthard, crashed on his last race
-Mark Webber, Multi 21 fiasco
-Daniil Kvyat, replaced mid-season after crashes
-Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon, replaced for poor performance

Omg I just clicked your channel and it's freshly uploaded
@1:23 Kimi looking like a badass Superhero! Love that guy
@@gorkab8461 wow where did you read or hear it? And what year, 1985?

No, just wait to 2022 and 2023
I'll miss Seb in red, but it's best for him to go to a team that supports him and doesn't put so much pressure on him. But hey, it was good until 2019, right?
Quality content as usual. Keep up the great work
As much as I love Ferrari, I struggle to defend the out of control politics and general team ethos.
To quote Aidan Millward: “Ferrari is a very Machiavellian organisation. When you’ve outlived your usefulness your gone”
Yup. Mclaren (Lauda 1985,Hakkinen 2001) Williams (Mansell 1992,Prost 1993,Hill 1996)
@@theempires5 lol, what about Alonso in mclaren?
You are being very kind to the Scuderia over the Raikkonen split... Raikkonen being Ferraris latest champion and won in 2007 in nearly impossible and glorious terms after trailing Hamilton and Alonzo for most of the season was subjected to a smear where any photo of him partying would be met by Montezemolo openly questioning his commitment to racing... Raikkonen not only got his seat back in 2014 but he is probably the first and only driver who also got an apology for his treatment proceeding his exit... I think Montezomolos criticism has aged very poorly...
Ferrari is the phisical manifestation of thr phrase "history repeats itself", It's like they're stuck in a loop and enjoy it there
I was a Ferrari fan since the 90s until the way they let Kimi go...since then, they have been a mess.
Just one hint about the pronounciation of Sebastian Vettels last name: speak Fettel. That is how we Germans pronounce it. More often than not the letter "v" is pronounced like a very harsh "f"
drivers come to ferrari because of the teams legacy and fancy buildings and stuff
No, they come to Ferrari because there is no team that is as glorious, famous and loved
@@giuseppemaggio5894 and leave with their hopes, dreams & careers in tatters.
You should do one about Williams and Red Bull next, but you probably won't because they're British based teams.
Imagining think Jean Todt was THE problem at Ferrari. Alesi was never the sharpest knife in the drawer.
All those years and drivers and Ferrari prove they have learned nothing about being a 'team' and taking good care of key staff
Just to be clear... MSC was let go to get RAI onboard, who was then let go for ALO, who made way for VET.. who was also let go unceremoniously!
Losing Schumacher in 2006 was the greatest mistake.
You sure there are no mistakes from Charles?
Imola and France!!
"Schumi" always liked the submissive team- mate. Raikonnen would not have been one.
@Stealth Leopard And Schumacher was submissive to Nico Rosberg.
What Nigel Mansell said about being a no. 2 driver at Ferrari 30 years ago still stands. Case in point Sebastian Vettel in 2020.
Can you also do a video on Ferrari's top team members? The ones that left and achieved success. James Alison, Aldo Costa?
wow seb at #1 huh didn't expect that
Glenn Freeman is the best at these videos. His delivery is excellent.
You should include
Every Ferrari driver ever
Most teams have a number 1 and a number 2 driver... Ferrari only has a number 3 and a number 4 driver.
Now one for McClaren and Wiiliams while we're at it
"Awkward" is one of the top adjectives I would use to describe Ferrari in F1 in general, now that you mention it...
The commadore still held sway at Ferrari back then. He loved Gil (as he called him).
@@theempires5 but Enzo himself loved Gilles. that is not something that could be said for very many people, let alone "expendable" drivers.
What is more impressive is after all the bad blood in his last year with Ferrari , Se made a whole song in Italian for the team and performed it after his last race over the radio. He still.managed to show passion for the screwderia
The best vid in a long while, thank you 👍
Rumors say that Ferrari fired Arnoux because they found out that He had a surgery in his right leg without informing the team about it, thus allowing Ferrari to sack him for breaking the contract on the terms of illness or health.
I haven’t watched the video yet but I already know it’ll feature Prost, Vettel and Raikkonen.
Another was Irvine. Pushed out to make way for barrichello
funny that another smaller channel talked about this 1 day ago, wondering how this happened
There is more to F1 than the last 30 years. Jean Behra's departure says more about Enzo who did not bother to send flowers.
Ferrari is the epitome of why the phrase "too big to fail" is so funny and and not indeed factual at all...
Idk how you treat someone like Prost and Vettel like that.
I love Ferrari but Ferrari is in its own way right now. Binotto does NOT seem to be helping.
4:56 brilliant photo there
Just reminds me of that scene from Rush “this thing drives like a pig”, “you can’t say that, it’s a Ferrari”...
I'd really like to know what it is about Ferrari that they've had such a love of drama in their management/team.
You guys forgot about Ferrari's departure from winning, lol !!!!
i feel alonso would've won at least 2 more championship if he stayed on at ferrari
This is high quality journalism
I would say that few drivers leave Ferrari on their own terms. Prost being fired in 1991 before the end of the season, Vettel being informed that he was going to be out of a drive at the end of 2020 before racing even began, both of these are incredibly awkward ways to leave Ferrari
What about Juan Manuel Fangio’s departure? No video of that could be found, huh?
so basically everybody who left Ferrari had an awkward split
A good vid for those who think Vettel's treatment as a new 'thing'.
vettel's last season was horrible and unexcusable
Lauda was quite the man. I can’t think of anyone like him at all
It surprises how good kimi can be and how shit he can be at times. It's baffling
Seb could have stayed and stepped in Kimi's role when unable to beat Charles purely on pace. He didn't accept and moved on! Ferrari would not offer another year or two if you don't accept proposed role in the team. Simple!
Yea that’s not what happened but alright buddy
Was expecting to see fangio's departure here
