"I bought this platinum coin with my soul and some Bitcoin" I literally died in that part XD
A major advantage of an assembled electrode over a plated electrode is that it's far easier to repair. If the titanium should decay it doesn't take the platinum with it. You can disassemble the electrode, get new titanium, and rebuild it with no loss of the valuable platinum.
OH GOOD APRIL FOOLS DA-
Nice! Perhaps next you can show us the most efficient method for extracting dye from $100 bills!
So I'm going again through this video after a year, and many seem to think it was a joke. It isn't in fact, except as pointed by NurdRage below the ridiculous price. This does work, but no need to spend $1000 on platinum to get a real platinum electrode. That ounce of platinum in the coin if properly processed would be enough to make many electrodes.
* Titanium coins purchased at the gift shop in the lobby may contain little or no titanium. *
This makes me hesitant to watch any other science videos released on April 1st.
Many of the companies sell 1 gram platinum bars at about $35-$45/piece. Another added benefit, besides the cost savings, is there is no need to see the Queens bust.
These videos are always so awesome and very educational. Thanks NurdRage!!!
Hey mate, if ya live in Ontario than feel free to message me if you ever want access to a cnc shop or tooling. If you need anything custom made just let me know, it's what I do everyday. Obviously you'll have to supply the raw material but my mill, lathe, powder coating, electroplating and general tooling abilities are something I'd be happy to donate as well as my time to the effort your making.
Roses are red
I've worked with commercial grade titanium & found it very easy to work with. Drilling is comparable to drilling mild steel.
Ah! Fell for it!
Honestly thought you were going to use a cartridge of Pokémon platinum or something instead of a coin
Great videos! a question though. is there any way to make perchlorates by electrolysis of NaCl using carbon/graphite electrodes?
Super! Thanl you very much! Platinum electrode, that is my olden dream.
This one has me a little confused. I am by no means a chemist so I have no idea if this is a total joke or just slightly a joke. I mean yeah it costs WAY more than just buying a pre-made one but it works doesn't it?
Destroying Canadian currency is a federal crime imma call Justin Trudeau on your ass
Nurdrage, on ebay there is a lot of shops that claims to sell authentic Pt bullions, but people finds out that some of them are fake, can u provide a link where u purchase in your platinum? Thx!
NurdRage, Please tell , What kind of material is that diagonal strip what is your negative terminal? Platinum?
