It seems like the players who mod the game and make videos about it have the absolute worst sense of style, and they also don't care about immersion at all. You all have ridiculous looking modded hair and outfits that look like you got teleported in from another universe. I mod my characters too but I make sure their appearance still fits the world and doesn't shatter my immersion every time they're on screen. It's the same thing with Skyrim mods. 90% of the players want to look like ridiculous anime characters who traveled to Tamriel through the multi-verse or something. You can still look cool and stand out without relying on skimpy clothing and modern hairstyles.
They literally have two dreadlocked hairstyles in the game. There are countless skimpy default outfits. Also, it's roleplaying, an immersion is 100% subjective to the person playing the role.
cool as it is to see how this goes down without the player character's influence, all i can think about is why you have wyll equipped with the bracers of defense while he's wearing armor
I wonder if its a coincidence that both of the "good" origin characters are also the ones that recieved the least development, wyll and karlach both are simply too kind for the world they are in. But damn both of them make an evil playthrough so hard, which means they succeed at being the good influence on tav.
I don't think its about them being to kind, they just don't have any pronounced flaws they can overcome. Even being too kind can be a flaw on its own and I had hoped that perhaps Wyll's story would lean into that direction. He is the type who would light himself on fire to keep others warm. I could also imagine Karlach picked up some bad behaviours from fighting in the Hells for 10 years, but we don't see any of that. In the end it comes down to time constraints. Karlach was added very late in development, and Wyll received a massive re-write (+ new VA) last minute. I assume that is the biggest issue with them as characters because the writing team 100% is competent enough to write kind characters who go though an interesting arc.
@@Louves192 I agree completely, they may be the two with the least development from an objective perspective, but both of them are arguably my two favourite companions, Wylls flaw is very much he prioritizes literally everyone he deems innocent above himself, I remember the first time mizora came and thinking dam this guy really is the best one here, And karlach is a character that I loved every bit of development she got, it's just an insanely good story to make the most kind one the one who is beyond saving, I guess calling them too kind isn't the correct sentiment it's rather that they are the characters with the least "evil" flaws, in a story that tends to be defined by the moral complexity of the characters present, I can't stress enough how I don't see this as a bad thing, a game about morality and making those decisions needs a good influence, so much of bg3s writing is to make the player aware of the consequences of their choices.
@@Louves192Karlach's story is basically about coping with terminal illness. That by itself is already a lot for a character to deal with. I think it's handled pretty well. She tries and fails to find a cure. We basically watch her go through the stages of grief and see her decide what she wants to do with the time she has left. In the end, the best case scenario is that she survives with the support of her loved ones and maybe, just maybe, they'll find a cure in the future. It's very different from the other characters' stories, but in my opinion it's handled pretty well. As for Wyll... yeah, I agree on that one. The final boss of his personal quest doesn't even acknowledge him. Wyll meeting his heroes and realizing they don't live up to his expectations is a great idea, but I feel like not enough was done with that concept.
I got this on accident actually in my first playthrough. I saw Karlach from across the river and thought she would die if I didn’t get to her quickly, but I was out of spells and didn’t think I could fight any more enemies to get to her, so I had Wyll misty step to her and got this scene. Thought it was so cool to step away from my story for a second and have Wyll do his own.
I’m good at killing demons. I’m level 1 and get one shot by most of them, but darn am I good :) Always thought the in depth backstories of dnd combine with the fact that you start at level 1 and could die from a stiff breeze to be funny.
I like to believe that it was the brainworms that sucked all the levels out of them and drained them of their powers/talents/etc and made them all scrubs. But yeah, it is weird lol
how'd you do this? as far as i know, such dialogues can't happen, at least not with both characters having voiced roles. I'd think you'd only be able to do this by playing as Wyll, and if you did that, he wouldn't get voiced dialogue.
Doesn't matter if you play a custom character or an origin, when you know a companion has a dialogue cutscene in an npc interaction, send them forth while the others stay behind. Including your actual character They'll have voiced lines and no dialogue options. They'll do what their characters seem to be inclined to do at that point This happens with Astarion meeting Gandrel alone too. There's a dialogue cutscene and no way to intervene in it. I think he chooses to kill him everytime
Coming across her the first time had me like holy shit, she's on fire, i need to do something. I asked if she was ok, trusting her(didn't know she was a companion, I was new to the game) I had Tav, Shadowheart, Lae'zel & Astarion, I subbed out Astarion & never subbed her out, I'm now in Act 3, just beat Ansur, completed the Murder Tribunal & defeated Orin the Red. Karlach is one of my favorite Characters & she's a character I will always take for all my future playthroughs & I will do a Origin playthrough as her.
How do you trigger this? I did this in my Dark Urge playthrough. Wyll was without my tav when meeting Karlach, and I controlled Wyll's dialogue options.
Man, this hairstyle fits him well. And it would look better with norns, long hair would've balanced them :/ They really failed at making his design more balanced.
The person split off their companion Wyll and sent him in by himself without the rest of the group there. That's why she has the line near the end of "Send in your *leader* to talk about it and we'll figure out the particulars".
You know, one thing about the contract to kill Karlach has never sat right with me... she DOESN'T qualify for it. The contract says "the heartless" and Mizorra makes a grand deal about "haha she doesn't have a physical heart so you have to kill her", but she does. Just because it's a metal contraption doesn't mean it isn't her heart. If someone without a physical heart would qualify for the contract, then someone with a replacement heart would unqualify.
Are those the bracers of protection? You need to take off his padded armor for them to be effective! The +2 only works if you aren’t wearing armor or using a shield.

Writing a mini essay about comparing long hair on a single character to anime girls in Tamriel is a level of unhinged I can appreciate.
It's almost as if players can do whatever they want with the game they paid for, crazy shit
