The lady that does my pedicures is from Laos. She say that there is more crime in Laos then Thailand. Especially Stealing vehicles, motorcycles, break into your car and steal belongings, etc
Don't worry too much about politics. I think politics and bad people are everywhere in the world. If we are good and take ourselves to a place where there is no risk. It was always a fun trip I'm not Laotian I understand that each person has encountered a different situation. Get to know the story differently. But the real experience is with ourselves.
I was born in Laos but moved to the US when I was 2. I was too young to remember anything and hope visit one day. I am so glad I found your channel. I love your content!!
I cannot wait to go to my motherland. I live in the US and have never been. Although i financially take care of my family that live in Laos & Thailand I never been there myself. Thinking about going there in October 2023 .. we’ll see the flights are super expensive right now ! BUT watching you two makes my day ! Thank you for the awesome content !
Great video guys! I love your blogging style! Btw, about the name; the French didn't change it, they just spell it differently. 'Vientiane' is the French spelling to pronounce 'Vien Chan', which is how it should be said in English (if a French person says it it sounds the same). French spellings are used rather than English ones throughout Laos as it was formerly their colony and part of French Indochina. Also the country name has an 's' at the end because the first reports of the country that were sent back to France (before they colonised it) referred to it in the plural as "Les Royaumes Laos" ( The Lao Kingdoms). The 's' at the end of the name just makes it plural to 'agree' with 'Kingdoms' grammatically in French. That got mis-translated in English to keep the 's' at the end. Obviously the French don't pronounce the 's' at the end anyway, so for them that's not an issue..! I hope that makes sense...
Most enjoyed your videos of Laos. I like the mini electric car you are using. It is very handy. The waterfall you visited was amazing. Keep posting more videos.
Been there 20 odd years ago. On the way south visit Pakse and Savanaketh also. And the best experience was sleeping on one of the islands in the Mekong. Enjoy😊
I was in Laos 2018 before Covid-19’s. There’s a lot amazing places to see. And I love all different foods. When you’re in Laos foods vendors everywhere on the sidewalk. And never feel hungry.
Absolutely loved when you both ran across the street. Yummy bananas. Can’t hear the gong. Very colorful. Dylon hit the drum. Lunch looked yummy. Really enjoyed video.
These past videos are great! Thanks for informing us with details of each situation and place. The food looks amazing! I will be visiting Laos next year and your videos are very helpful! Very much appreciated! Also, Pha That Luang at night time is amazingly beautiful! 🙏Thanks!
Thank you der for sharing a great video. Looks like you both are having an awsome time in Laos. Lao people use the word der at the end of a short sentence.
The little fire cracker that the folks play was actually quite popular in my childhood. It has a Nick name "the skyrocketed monkey" basing on the squeaky sound it makes 😂😄
Chop chop 💇🏼 only if you have old mate saying WOW straight after 😂😂 that cracks us up every time lol. We actually look forward to finding the WOW in the eps now haha
Beautiful temple great food and a tuktuk -FUN! We’re those gourds in that restaurant all made into lights?!?! That’s awesome! Makes me wanna grow em paint them and drill designs into them for light. Inspirational! I love your clear frame glasses and I want that too however, I’m really small so difficulties in size so have to research. Love them because they allow one to see your pretty face ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻❤️oops my vote for haircut is NO! Not yet! No one has it anymore it makes you unique and an easy point out-guy with the longhair…lmao love you two! Safer travels filled with love n joy and ‘ease’!
Haha I think they were lights!! They weren’t on… but it seemed like they had a purpose haha! Thank you so much - the place I got the gasses from kindly gave me the “small” version, the ones they had everyone else trying were regular but MASSIVE! Perhaps your local optician also has some smaller frames hiding in the back? 🤗 hehhe Dylan’s got the idea in his head now… it’ll be hard to sway him otherwise!! He will just have to get a super random haircut to make him stick out even more 😂👀
I did hear the motorcycle scams are quite new from a Thai friend since everything was opening up! Though from what I hear it is particularly towards the Thais visiting! However for safety reason probably wiser to heed the warnings which you both are doing great! Probably started around earlier this year!
The Khop Chai Deu seemed like the number one restaurant back in 2005 when i visited laos - Right across the street, there was a scandinavian bakery, that made the most delicious danishes. Remember that a 70cl beer lao was 10000kip (1 usd back then), and a glass of orange juice was 15000 kip... LOL
@@2Passports1Dream Deffo, and I am looking forward to go back and visit Laos again sometime. Vientienne back then, only had one building taller than 4 or 5 stories tall. Which was a hotel right by the Mekong. One of the main streets, the one Khop chai deu is on... Was a dirt road back then. And now seing your vid with a high speed train.. Man, it much be so much different from back then. Good memories from that trip, that is for sure.
Great vdo guys! The banana dish looked divine!! Dylan go for the crazy hair cut before cutting it short. I had a Britney Spears moment, and shaved all of my hair off when it was long lol! Now i love shaving my head bc its low maintenance
Great video guys..... I went to Vientiane around 2002 loved it. Dylan maybe go for a mullet! For fun..... it's very popular in Geraldine, South Island, New Zealand! I have 3 sons all have been through the mullet stage! 😀
We love Vientiane! It is one of our favorite places in Laos and many miss it, unfortunately for them. It is very special! Hope you stay there longer than expected and you will be rewarded.
Vietiane: Joma coffee and food for breakfast, Delicious Vietnamese Nem nướng wrapped in lettuce for lunch or an evening meal. Laos made peanut butter for a snack
@@2Passports1Dream I don't know the namre or address of one particular popular Vienamese restaurant but looking at google maps I can definitely say that it was about 700 metres 1 street over from Joma Bakery (Café Nam Phou, Rue Setthathilath, Vientiane, Laos 1 ) on a street with a supermarket that sells Laos made peanut butter. If you see large fountain and Swedis bakery then you are walking in the wrong direction and you should have seen a temple as you walk from Joma but cxross to the other side of the street from the temple and head down a side sttreet and turn left!
Great video as always! Loved the temples and always enjoy you showing us the local places to eat. And Dylan, you should definitely do a fun haircut before you go shorter!!
Just a note, 30 miles south of where I live in Northern Wisconsin, we have a city, that has take in Laotian refugees ,they have their own shops and farmers markets in summer, and they use the S in Laos.
I agree with your comment about the price of taking a tuk tuk, that's how I felt during my 2 month in Thailand this year. It was often worth paying a bit more for a tuk tuk versus a Bolt if I wanted the extra fun of being in a tuk tuk. And if the locals consider it expensive that's okay; for me it was worth the extra.

Agreed. In reverse, it would be like pronouncing 'faux-pas' literally in English. This is what the whole of the western world is doing with 'Laos'
Makes a lot of sense!! Thank you
@@2Passports1Dream 'ch' in English is pronounced 'sh' in French, so to get the harder sound in French they have to spell it 'tie'.
You explained it really well. Thanks for the info.
