Why is it that the sound from the internal microphone of the Go 2 is better than when the sound is connected to the camera? For example, when I use merged mode + db-6 + audio mic 1. When I speak louder the audio from connecting to the camera sounds too high, but when I hear the sound from the internal backup transmitter the sound is good and not peaking. Please explain and provide a solution 🙏
Thank you. Just got one. One TX for personal tutorials and mic-handle interviews. This was very helpful. I think I can even connect the TX to a rodecaster without the receiver if I'm not mistaken. Do you know anything about that? I have a RØdecaster Pro II and I figured the best place to test my gain settings before going off on a shoot would be right at my rodecaster with my headphones on. But I was curious if it's tough to connect.
Bruh it’s sad that you buy this item and you have to go to UA-cam to watch how to set them up .. there’s no instructions or nothing that helps in the actual box
Im not even finished watching your video and this might be the best tutorial I have ever watched. I am a photographer and a videographer and I have watched a TON. From your clear visuals to your expert explanations of the gear, this was an OUTSTANDING review. Thank you!
I just bought a Rode Wireless Go II and i've now got a brilliant understanding of how to use it. One of the best video guides i've seen, keep them coming.
Hi Peter. How are you getting on with the Rode Wireless Go II? I was about to buy the first version of the Go, but opted for the Go II at the last minute. It arrives in a couple of days. I want to wear the mic under clothing - have you tried this? Any tips for minimising rustling? I'm hoping a dead cat will be enough.
I find it excellent. I use a lav mic but wear it on the outside of my clothes. I use a dead cat and its only very very windy conditions that have an effect in terms of wind noise. Ive heard lots of negatives about this mic but I find it to be flawless - so far.
@@petercorbett1610 Okay thanks for that. I'm hoping it might be possible to keep the mic fully hidden under clothing, without going for a lav mic, but I suppose only testing can tell me what will and won't work.
I can hear tons of background noise on my Rode Wireless 2, my apartment is entirely silent except for a little noise from my refrigerator and I have the camera audio very low and the gain on the microphone at -27 DB and i can still hear the background noise from the fridge VERY clearly. The audio sounds awful considering this cost me $260
28:30 Adjust levels on the rode, but monitor on the camera. This detail is huge. Thank you for making this video! If you do shorts, this would be a good one.
Your video is really a lifesaver for someone like me who has close to zero idea of how microphones and audio recording actually work. Excellent demonstration and explanation!
God bless you, man. After spending 8 seconds on the RODE instruction sheet and learning nothing, I spent most of the day learning everything there is to know about this powerful device - thanks to you. I'm not sure how anyone could use these mics correctly without watching your instructional video. Well done, and thank you.
I must've watched at least 50+ Trainings on the Rode Wireless Go2 - and Not Only is this the ABSOLUTE BEST Training, delivered in a short, succinct format - I believe this Training will help ANY newbie dealing with cameras and mic's to get a CLEAR UNDERSTANDING of the Audio-variables involved in a camera/mic setup. This should be made mandatory in every Creative University, the Understanding of the Basic Principles is so deep, with so much clarity!! Thanks a MILLION, Jeven - You Rock!!
I just bought the Rode Wireless Go 2 today and I am so happy I came accross your video and your amazing tutorial. This is probably one of the best tutorials that I have seen on UA-cam. You are very thorough with tour explanation and it helped me a lot. I was actually kind of upset when I bought it for my content production because I have heard great things about the product but I had no idea how it worked or how to use it. If it was not for your video I would have been so lost. Please continue to make great tutorials like this, were we can all benefit from. You are amazing 🙏
Thanks, this is great info. I’ll need to practice before using it for Holiday and motorcycle trips. I’m hope to get a good sound balance between voice and exhaust notes
I can hear tons of background noise on my Rode Wireless 2, my apartment is entirely silent except for a little noise from my refrigerator and I have the camera audio very low and the gain on the microphone at -27 DB and i can still hear the background noise from the fridge VERY clearly. I know this video is a year old, but many still watch it. Two things: 1. Rode updated so that you can batch export backup files from Rode Central app. Life is way better. 2. The transmitter CONTINUES to record even after receiver is turned off. Not sure if that new, but I verified that today. I recorded to H6, let a dialogue going while I turned off the H6, unplugged the Rode receiver and then powered it off. I then continued talking for awhile to see. When I plugged the transmitter into Rode Central, all of the dialogue was there, even after the receiver was powered off.
This is an insanely good tutorial. As someone who use the RWG II for the odd job here and there, I need a refresher each time. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Just received my Rode Wireless GO 2. I'm now half-way into this tutorial and I got to say that you give the best advice. You've saved me from multiple disasters already!
The thing that convinced me to sell my Wireless GO I and get the II is the USB-C connectivity to my MacBook Pro and to my iPhone with the SC-15 cable. Great video! Super detailed
Having just bought the GoII your video was priceless. There is no mention in packaging about the software and generally the information with the device is lacking. I have recommended to Rode that you be compensated for providing a superior user engagement. Great stuff - thank you so much
I actually have two sets of these. A serious game changer and an incredibly reliable and useful tool. This video is epic! I feel like I’m stealing it by watching for free!

Thank you so much for this super in depth breakdown man. I'm a rookie here and have a great documentary i'm trying to work on and just got these to record the audio. This helped me so so much man. I'm really greatful. Tough doing it all on your own with just your middle America budget, but I got these and a gimble so it's getting there! Your channel features some of the highest quality tutorials I've seen. Your pace is easy to follow, you speak clearly and in terms that are easy to understand, you don't assume that the viewer knows anything and don't leave details to the imagination, you even create scenarios that the user will encounter to help us understand why a feature is useful and what for etc. If someone can't figure out _exactly_ how to operate something after watching one of your tutorials, I honestly don't know if they'll ever get it lol.
2 years later and your still helping people lol. Honestly, for over a week now I couldn't figure out what the H was going on! You're the only one who's explained it to me. Thank you!! Off to get off get adaptors in the morning 😅
Your guide was superbly clear, detailed and very well structured with topics introduced and later involving deep dives. I owned the first model and now have the Mark II and you highlighted things that I never knew were possible. Thank you.
I had just gotten the new RodeGo2 for a shoot the very next day, and while stressing over my lack of using the new system and its features, I stumbled on this video!! After watching long enough to understand them a bit, I had to pause the video so I could “process my happiness”!!! My wife’s been laughing at that statement ever since! Thanks for a great tutorial my friend! 😆
Long, but well worth the watch if you own these microphones!! Thank you for taking the time to explain the use, various settings, and workflow for one- and two-person recording sessions. I'm just getting mine set up. I've learned that -18db is too low to record. I'll put these up to -6db and do another test. I'm recording a drag car on Sunday (1,100hp) and I'm concerned about the audio blowing out. I'll be sure to dial down the gain to -18db when he fires up the engine. Thank you Jeven - terrific tutorial. All the best, Cheers Rick PS - I liked your example of exercise trainers getting excited - that worked for me. Often I'll film next to a highway, and I'm yelling to be heard over the traffic. In those situations--like yours--I have to turn down the gain so my audio doesn't "blow out."
Hi Jeven, greatings from Australia. I bought the system yesterday and am studying a video editing course at night school. Thanks for such a comprehensive tutorial. Easy to follow. I have saved so I can watch over and over again so it all sinks in. Cheers mate - well done.
Wow, Jeven! I'm at a loss for words to thank you for this video. The clarity and comprehensiveness with which you've explained each function of the Rode Wireless Go II is simply outstanding. As someone who is just starting out and feeling a bit overwhelmed by this topic, your video is exactly what I needed. I greatly appreciate the effort and dedication you've put into every detail, and the way you break down the workflow and the use of Rode Central is invaluable. Thank you for this impeccable work that is truly priceless!
I hope Rode paid you handsomely for being their human instruction manual. If they didn’t, they should! Watching this video gave me everything that I needed and more, to use my newly purchased Rode II. Much more helpful than the information, or rather the lack of, that came with the units. Well done sir and thank you!
You are phenomenal. Clear. Broken down instructions that have me confident for my shoot tomorrow. I agree with other comments that RODE needs to hire you .. They have great products but their 'training' videos are high on flashiness and very low on actual helpfulness.

Holy shmokes, that was the best tutorial I've ever come across! Well done, thank you very much indeed. I think Røde should ship this with every Wireless Go II they sell. On a video tape or something. So they can ignore printing the most incomprehensive and stupid manual of theirs. Saves trees. But they then need bigger boxes.
Usually I do not comment on YT videos but this one deserves a lot it. Thank you so so much for this detailed video, with chapters and with so many tips and general usage information. Very very useful.

Can't wait to get started! Thanks for creating this! I will save it for future reference, if I need to refresh my memory, as time goes on.
Thank you for explaining every single detail...I watched other videos, but I couldn't tell what I was doing wrong until I watched your video. Something soooooo simple! Such as not plugging the cable into the headphones input! LOL The truth is that there are a lot of beginners like me who may benefit from your video! Thank you amigo 😃👍
Thank you so much for this! Just bought the Rode Wireless Go II and this has video has been a lifesaver. I tried to watch the shorter videos on the microphones, but sometimes you have to have step by step explanation. Honestly it didn’t feel like 47 minutes
Very helpful video! Thanks Jeven! One thing I want to mention for anyone that sees this comment is that my units came with a much older firmware, so I was trying to follow along and things weren't the same as what I was seeing on this video. Eventually we got to the part about Rode Central and I downloaded that and plugged in and it prompted to me to update to a new firmware, even newer than what was being used at the time ofmaking this video. Well... that made it work like what Jeven was describing. So if you are getting a different looking screen and things arent working, try the Rode Central first and update the firmware if needed. Cheers!
Used my wireless go 2 twice in the last year because both times I had audio errors and both were weddings.. after this video I’m brushing the dust off them and going to give them another shot. Appreciate the effort put into this video.
I just got a Rode Wireless Go II a few days ago to use with a GoPro and this tutorial made it really easy to understand how to use it. This is by far one of the best tutorials I’ve ever seen. Thank you!
What a fantastic video! You explained stuff simply and without it sounding condescending. This would have taken a lot of your time and I just wanted to let you know that I appreciated it. Cheers.
I damn near lost my mind because I didn’t read the manual nor had knowledge of the split vs merged audio. Thank you so much. Now I’m able to record with Rode 1 and Rode 2 simultaneously with a headphone splitter and TRRS adapters in each line. Much appreciated for the helpful video!
I think this might be the best how-to video for the Rode Go II - and you're really easy to listen to - great voice!! I've also used this with my computer for Zoom classes and the quality is really great - as long as your classes don't last too long!
The depth of information covered in this video is truly impressive. It’s evident that a lot of effort went into creating such an informative and detailed piece.
Thank you Jeven, this presentation was excellent. I have had the Rode for ages, finally I know how to use it. All of this should have been provided by Rode.
Had a few questions about this setup and been wanting this for awhile but couldnt find the answers i needed. You cleared up everything I was wondering about this setup. Great video with some fantastic information
Wow that was an excellent tutorial for someone who knows nothing about these mics to learn. Great job I have a very profound understanding of them. Thank you
This was the best how-to on this that I have seen. Thank you for such good, detailed and useful information! I am so glad I found your video. You covered it all.
Excellent video and very helpful as I was completely lost when I bought my Rode GO II. I agree with the other comments - your videos should be included on the Rode product page for all Rode users. With much thanks Jeven! I made sure to like this video.

The only video one need to watch to understand the system completely
Wonderful video
Thanks a lot
This was an excellent video. The best I have seen on UA-cam
Absolutely the best review and step-by-step walk through on this product, and I've watched a few of them. Thank you!
Great save on the plug it into the wrong………….”port”. Awesome video as always!
Haha, that was some quick thinking
You are a terrific teacher! Thanks from a mic newbie!
This is the first time I watch a equipment video for so long! It's really clear and detailed instruction for the wireless go ii!
My mics arrived today. Watched the whole video before unboxing. You, sir, have put together an exceptionally helpful video, thank you so much!
Had a few questions about this setup and been wanting this for awhile but couldnt find the answers i needed. You cleared up everything I was wondering about this setup. Great video with some fantastic information

This was the best how-to on this that I have seen. Thank you for such good, detailed and useful information! I am so glad I found your video. You covered it all.
The best explanation I have found about this amazing system. Thanks so much!!!
Excellent video and very helpful as I was completely lost when I bought my Rode GO II. I agree with the other comments - your videos should be included on the Rode product page for all Rode users. With much thanks Jeven! I made sure to like this video.
This is the only video to watch when it comes to the Wireless Go 2. Split vs merged mode had some questions answered that I was looking for. Thank you
You answer every question and give simple but detailed explanations. THANK YOU!
I've had these for about 3 months and have loved them. They've been flawless.
