Anyone know how to tell b16? I bought a transmission supposedly from an em1, I forgot to check for vins when I picked up the transmission, when I got home and looked all the vins were gone. Any way to tell if it's an actual em1 trans or something else? The trans I got is a linkage transmission not a cable
Short gears for all motor for faster acceleration long gear for turbo cars to stay on boost a bit longer in my opinion or in the middle like a type R Trans or b17
+matthis661 itr it should be the same the only difference would be how many turns tho shouldn't be a lot of turns different I'll comment how I got the amount of turns later
+matthis661 itr so you just multiply 3rd gear ratio times the final drive in my case b17 3rd gear is 1.459 and final drive is 4.4 multiply it and got 6.4 so just look up the gear ratio for whatever trans you need to check
I think the yellow tag is for the 90-91 transmissions I'm not sure but the best way to know what you have is this way or counting the gears by opening the transmission cause all 92-93 transmissions had the same type of tags starting with ys1
@@daproject7025 my housing is a s80. came off a 01 integra. i did the math. 3rd gear ratio x final drive (1.458 x 4.4 = 6) (but b16 is 1.456 x 4.2 = 6.1) super close...
The middle is 4th and 3rd so you put it in the middle and pull it out for 3rd I would look at different gears one that has the biggest difference between the 2 transmissions and do it there that way you get a more obvious answer bro

Ok so basically you multiply the gear ratio you put the transmission in like in the case 3rd by the final drive 4.4 in your case Type r 3rd gear ratio is 1.458 x 4.4 final drive = 6.415 so basically 6.5 bro so you should be good

Yes but the but those gsr have a longer gear then the gsr I used so it should about 5.9 or 6 turns
And the LS is about 5.5

when selecting gears by hand. is all the way in reverse, all the way out is 3rd. what gear is in the middle?
