At 49:05 Dave and Rachel discuss something that I have been needing to hear for a long time now. I have money related PTSD from my childhood, growing up in poverty, that I have always struggled with to this day. Thanks a lot Dave and Rachel. You guys are awesome and have seriously impacted my life for the better.
I am excited that Sam's fiance was transparent about the expectations he set for himself and therefore could communicate clearly to Sam. I love Sam's drive, journey, and intention. You go ma'am! WINNING!!
Man, this poor young woman, Alison, is so wrapped up in fearing she'll never meet someone as loving as her BF. Thank you for speaking truth to her - he is not worthy of her. Perhaps he will get his act together, but don't give up your life and money for a guy who's not working with you and isn't fully transparent. She deserves so much more.
I've learned that the way you do ANYthing is the way you do EVERYthing. If he isn't taking care of himself or his money...he Definitely won't take care of her. And what I'm talking about has nothing to do with money. She knew what to do before she made the call, it's just painful.
How do we know she's worthy? Short call, she could be a terrible person. And even if she isn't, the scenario Dave described, with this young guy making the national average salary and showering her with gifts and worshiping the ground she walks on... Is that really a healthy relationship? Treating women like goddesses to be worshiped? That call pissed me off. A young guy got thrown under the bus because he's not a millionaire at 22 and spending every cent on some random chick in LA.
Bless you Rachel , you make me smile , you and your father make me smile, with the little banter you have, and you still bring that beautiful smile to calm it all off 😂😂😂😂, bless you😁👌
So proud of Sam and her fiancée. She took the bull by the horns and dug in. Would love to hear what made the fiancée debt focused. Congratulations to you both🎉🎉🎉🎉
The best part of this episode was how hard the fiance was clapping for the girl at the end. You could tell he was so proud. What a good man, and a great woman, they are going to have such a good life!
Catching up on these shows on my commute to work, what an emotional roller coaster the episode was. Highs and lows. Very inspiring all around. There’s a reason I’ve been listening for the last eight years!
Rachel is right, if mom adds daughter as an autherized user on her credit card and then maxes it out or misses a payment, it effects the daughters credit score the same as the moms.
Rachel may be right but this daughter would be added as an owner. Otherwise it would not show up on daughters credit report. Daughter doesn't get the bill so how would she know what was owed unless she received a bill.
1:42:54 Exactly girl. Same family background here. One of my older friends put it in a good way “date as much as you like. Dating isn’t trying to look for someone, it’s trying to find out who YOU are.” Meaning, you are now finding out what you want in a partner, and all this time passing by is simply lessons and growth. If it works out, GREAT!, if it doesn’t, GREAT TOO! Because all throughout you are learning what you want in a relationship and what you don’t want. It’s exactly how I found I out I want a partner who is growth oriented and believes anything is possible in life with hard work. Take your time girl, the one who is for you will come along when you least expect it. And, every relationship you have between today and then will simply be part of the journey!
Re first caller, I went for legal advice to try to help save my parents from a huge financial disaster and the lawyer said as long as they're compus mentis (no dementia etc),, the best thing you can do is go and live your life. So I did 😊
Friends of mine were in the exact same situation as the couple looking to buy the car. Her parents disliked him, judged everything they did. They got married last year of college and unfortunately they haven't talked to her mom in 20 years except at a few family events (funerals/weddings). They are happy and successful, but the only reason was she was willing to disconnect from that relationship. It is a hard choice, but they told her mom, either let us live our life, stop attacking us or we are done with you. She continued and they said no and excluded her from their life.
I love Dave and she’s like why are you yelling at her? He’s just yelling because he’s mad and that’s how I get everybody’s like don’t yell at me. I’m like I’m not yelling at you. I’m just mad.
Something else to think about for Allison. These controlling types tend to try and remove you from your support system. Going to Texas, I assume, would make him the only person you know locally. Probably this is not a good move for you.
I disagree holding debt payments for 6-9 months while waiting for a baby would only be 50bucks. If they delay paying back 15k the interest would be more like $700+
I don't know why you can't use the free manual entry one and keep your receipts and enter expenses every day. Just pretend the $ signs are pounds or Euros for anyone living overseas. It's the principle of allocating money for expenses in various categories, doing a strict daily recording, and then seeing what is left and figuring out how to use that money in advance each month. What would not be possible is the automatic slide-over from financial institutions in the paid version because those financial institutions are not attached to the every dollar.
