So who knew that Icon is making Bluetooth devices now? I sure didn't. You guys can check it out here: bit.ly/2GjwMZi PS: Keep it between us, but here's how I made my Airflite helmet look so cool. bit.ly/2Gi7quO
hey chase if you can take a caliper to the unit, and give me some accurate dimensions I can make a 3d printable file to allow you to take the unit off your helmet. I can also design it to not get caught on stuff like the SENA one.
Hi Chase, Thank you for taking the time to review and explain a little about the Sena line as well. We are proud to work with other companies and hoping to continue to help people #RideConnected ... Ride Safe Chase -Alyssa
I hate my 30k, the speakers are almost as useless as the voice commands that dont work. I might "down grade" to this unit just to have a smaller lighter less wind resistant package .
@@rcadventuresoffical The speakers for the 30K and any Sena device need to be positioned over directly over your ears for the best sound. Using the Sena Utility app you can enable Audio boost. Also double check your phone or device is turned up all the way (Spotify full volume). The Sena 30K speakers are a bit larger and have more bass then these smaller units. -Alyssa
@@senatechnologies i realize everything you said. However my shoei rf1200 helmet only has one place to put the speakers. And when i say the speakers are useless i meen that there is so much noise in the helmet that you have to blast the speakers to hear the music and the over all effect is deafening overtime. If you have any other advice on that id love to hear it. And the voice commands are absolutely useless. It never responds to me talking to it while im riding.
@@unisonicz1thanks for you intellectual stimulating comment.....theres no helmet that will counter the effects of wind and motorcycle noise. Idk if your implying that a shoei rf1200 isnt a good helmet but its certainly considered a higher end helmet so I wouldn't think you would be talking about the quality... since this comment was from a year ago I have since then checked helmets to a top teir bell and I love the helmet. Even more than shoei. How ever the speakers are still useless. Earbuds are the way to go. If you really have to use the the sena speakers you have to wear ear plugs and crank them up full blast to hear over the wind and bike noise and not go deaf. And none of those things will help the useless voice commands. I sware if I have to hear "say a command" one more time I'm going to snap and throw the sena garbage in the trash!!!
I really liked this dynamic, with WBR I feel like Chase is in Brian's world, but with this it feels like Brian's in Chase's world and it feels refreshing and nice to see, would love to see more of these kind of videos 👌
It's a rebranded/color Sena SF Model(I think SF4). Look into those, as you can get the SF model with a normal base that is super slim. It's what I'm running on my helmet. I have never snagged on my jacket like you have.
The low music volume could be your phone. It has a music volume safety feature. The phone treats the bluetooth unit like a headset and will limit the volume level. You can turn the music volume on the phone up to max, it will put up a warning about hearing damage (well, mine does) but you just touch 'OK' and continue to turn the volume up. Then you control your listening volume on the headset. Most phone treat call and other volume settings differently to music volume.
Truth. I have to manually push my Galaxy S8+ past that BT volume limit each time I reboot my phone, for each bluetooth device. Super annoying when I forget and I'm already going down the road, lol. Then I break my eardrums because both are at max volume, suddenly.
That it is... yes you could have music higher, but for most all, you need it background noise, conversation/directions are at a toneal level so you are able to hear them better anyway.
I like that you and Brian did a review of it together. It definitely gives us the viewers a little better idea of the product and different opinions on it all in one video. Great job Chase! Can't wait till the next review ✌️😃
So I bought the airflite slim and I have never owned a bluetooth system....Being a beginner in this world...I watch your video 3 times and I did check out Other devices.. You guys are awesome and fun to watch! Keep making that content, I enjoy every minute of it. I did get the Icon Airflite helmet based on your review and it is AMAZEBALLS!!! Thank you for making a great channel.
Really cool to have Brian lend his opinion to the review. Smart move since it's his first BT unit. (you got this fitness challenge on lock i believe in you) Really liking how low profile this unit is. It'll be my choice of BT device for sure. (and u really gonna like how you feel keeping low profile carb intake in your diet) And those cinematic shots in studio were cleeeean!. Keep it up! (super clean like your nutrition you got this man stay hydrated)
I love Icon - their Airframe Pro designs are awesome - but the partnership with Sena doesn't seem like the way to go nowadays. I've owned Sena and Cardo products and the Cardo Packtalk Slim is the best communication system currently available (better than the Packtalk Bold and the Freecom 2 and a lot better than the Sena 20S and 30K). I'm actually posting a comparison video in about a week or so.
Keep the brain buddy! He did exceptionally well, and delivered pertinent information in an easy to digest way, plus it opens you up to shenanigans with another intelligent guy. Keep up the good work bud.
Interesting to hear Brian's take, as being new to bluetooth. He made some good points about ease of use. Even though I'll most likely go with a Cardo unit as that's the unit most of my friends use for communication. I'm always glad to get other points of view.
I loved Brain in this review video. He needs to do more reviews with you. I would like to see him do test rides with you and get his take on the bikes.
It's fire I bought it a few weeks ago. It also does come with velco w 3m tape so you can remove it if you use that to install, it also comes w double sided tape
Loved seeing brain on a review video. I also think it's awesome he gets some dope swag out of it! Is this the start of a chase on two wheels empire? Keep up the good work
Not sure if I missed a video or not but just curious as to what happened with your license situation. Besides that. It looks like I'm buying a bluetooth unit for my helmet. It's been a few years since my last one this one looks promising. I will definitely be getting one. Thanks for the upload. You always give honest information. It's good to see Brian on a bike for a change too.
Freecom 4 is 20 bucks more and comes with 2 of them. I have the freecom 2 and it's done great for me. It also is detachable, and can be mounted with the 3m base plate or the clip.
This looks like a rebranded Sena SFR. I have the SF4 which is a little bit thicker but is able to be quickly disconnected to charge. I then bought another mounting bracket, headset and mic for another helmet and now i can move the SF4 from one to the other. Very convenient IMHO.
What are the two cameras you guys were using? Chase, yours had a bit more depth of field, fov, and a seemingly higher shutter speed, but Bryan's seems to have a better color profile and a more cinematic shutterspeed that give more of a sense of speed.
4 is plenty with a Sena. But then Sena really are awful at multi user communications. Add in the lack of waterproofing and I will stick with Cardo. The packtalk bold does both, perfectly. I’d certainly try one Chase as if you haven’t used Cardos products your likely missing out.
I don’t know how similar the RAU is to my sf2, but there should be a little tab on the back that lets you take it out of the mount, so you don’t have to “charge your helmet”. Just an FYI
Ah ok so I was mistaken. The SF2 uses a slip in style mount, allowing it to be removed, but it’s still so low profile I haven’t had it ever snag. I can also mirror a lot of the review, call and navigation can get very loud, I wish I had 2 or 3 more volume increases when listening to music. I also notice sound quality can sometimes degrade at the highest 2 volume levels, if Sena were looking for improvements, those two things would be it. As far as FM radio features, if the unit could be made smaller, lighter, more water proof, less cost, etc by getting rid of it, go for it. If it doesn’t take up anything to have that feature, sure keep it, but I would trade it for a minute benefit in any other category. I don’t even know how to activate it. Overall I think the unit is phenomenal. The buttons are great any easy to use, it seems durable, easy to install, on and on. I haven’t messed with voice commands since I got it, so I can’t comment on that, but really I would like to see the ability to “hey Siri” from the helmet, but that may be an Apple thing and not a sena thing.
I have a FREECOM 4 which seperate "base stations" can be bought for different helmet so you don't need to buy a full new intercom :) It does what i want and more.
I have multiple helmets. It’s only $30 for the Sena attachment with new speakers. So I can swap my Sena unit itself between helmets. That’s my favorite part. Street helmet or dirt helmet for the Sumo I can swap Sena. When it’s perma fixed I’m stuck to one helmet
I'm not entirely convinced on the price tag on this thing, especially when I could get two Sena SMH5's for the same price. It's the base model of the entire Sena line and yet I have been able to easily change it out between helmets without having to apply chemicals to take it off and I can easily take it off the charge it, especially since I charge it at my desk whilst also transferring GoPro footage onto my PC. And, anyways, the original intercom the RAU is based off of is 120 dollars, compared to 200 for the Icon one. Pretty much, what Icon has done again is put a fat pricetag on a piece of mediocre gear that you can find the same (or similar) for half the price. I do highly value Brian's opinion on the intercom, primarily because he's an honest person with no reason to lie and this is his first experience with an intercom device on his helmet. Realistically, though, I do believe that there are better options out there for the target market of the RAU, especially the Sena it's based off of
Chase, good review nice communicator but in my opinion why are they releasing items with Bluetooth technology? I would say a comparable unit that does not have to be glued in to your helmet and has mesh technology which connects and disconnects easier would be the cardo slim. Review that one and let us know what you think in comparison.
Stupid question but how do you record the conversation from Sena ? Because i have a motovlog here in Bulgaria and I'm using GoproHero 7 with mic adapter and purple panda mic and i will bye one Icon RAU soon ... So i was wandering how to make dual vlogs like this one ? Could you give me a hint ?
Ok that's great and all but why the colab with icon? Obviously it is a version of one of senas existing models, what did icon bring to the table that Sena didn't already have?
Was planning on getting those $45 cheap ebay communicators which you can't beat for the price but ended up getting the $500 Cardo PackTalk duo pack. Hurts to look at my bank balance but hope the features make it worth it.

Its Awsome including them they are great comparators also you guys make a great team keep up the videos there great. Have a great day looking forward for the next one.
I'd say over 95% of the time I'm using my BT for music. And I'm fairly certain that's the case for most of us. The fact that it doesn't get loud enough to enjoy music above 35ish MPH is a no go.
Have had the SMH10R for 5 years now, and it is the most slim sena on the market, and does everything this thing does, but is barely noticable on any helmet. Think ill keep that instead
