@@Addly82 It probably has a large thermal mass. The tradeoff is they tend to take longer to heat up. But once hot, they retain the heat much longer. Less cycling of the battery.

My mother is a school teacher and was in need of a battery powered glue gun for class projects. So instead of buying a more expensive one that might just get swiped by a punk kid i got her two harbor freight bauer glue guns. She uses them quite frequently. I know harbor freight has only a select set of tools that can actually be considered as quality tools. I will vouch for the glue gun, that thing works extremely well and the battery lasts longer than any project you will need a hot glue gun for. Good enough that i got one for myself.

One of the most important test with generic power tools is to see if they included a low voltage cut off switch, AKA over discharge protection. A lot of cheap generic tools do not have this, and will run your battery down to absolute zero and destroy tour battery if you aren't constantly checking your voltage throughout the job.

DeWALT should make one that comes up to temp while docked on a benchtop station then switches to battery once you take it off and it only needs to maintain the temp. Probably the only way I’d consider a battery hot glue gun since I don’t want to wear out expensive batteries on something like that.

Well, I just checked and it looks like Mellif also makes a DeWALT battery adapter for 120v. For that price I think I’ll just make my own out of an old battery shell and a switching PSU (maybe slower, but who cares?).
I can make a tray on my workbench with something like that on one side and a charged battery on the other. If I disable the latch on the adapter then I can just grab it off the tray/dock and push it onto the battery and lift off the tray after it gets up to temp. I like this idea!

Okay I immediately bought one and subscribed. I bought the "Milwaukee" version since red is better. Thanks for the review, been using my wife's mini glue gun for years and hating it, this will come in handy when I occasionally need a hot glue gun.

The included glue isn't very good, not worth using. A big quality difference among glue makers.

    I have the Arrow 10mm glue gun - $19 - it's a 110v plugin at 300W and comes with a stand...that's VERY important. So unless you need battery-operation...it's cheaper + better.
