I don’t use a glue gun much but I do have a cordless one - Before I attach a new glue stick I put a dab of hot glue on the end then push the two together - that way you don’t have to keep pushing the stick in
Thanks for another great product comparison video. Always enjoy them! Just a tip that I only recently learned on another video - add a small drop of hot glue to the end of the new stick before you insert it, and it bonds to the first one, so you don't have to push it again. When I saw the tip, I wondered why I hadn't thought of it myself - so simple and really works!
Thanks for doing this, Angie. I really appreciate that you do a fair assessment of new Cricut products. Too many bloggers give a thumbs up to all Cricut stuff, and seem to totally disregard their high prices.
I noticed this post within the last week or so and then yesterday while crafting my glue gun literally blew up, sparkles smoke and flames were involved. Soooo this video helped a lot as today I’m shopping for a new glue gun 😂🎉 Thanks Angie for the comparisons I think I know now what I want in a glue gun.
Angie, I love all your great advice!! I am new to crafting and got the gorilla glue gun from Costco before I saw this video. I will make it work either way because I don’t know what I’m doing 🤣 Thanks for helping me get crafting!! You’re wonderful and a great teacher !
Hi Angie, I have recently been trying to do foam projects for my great nieces for xmas and been frustrated because I couldn’t get them to stick. Now I know why, been using the hot and not the cooler glue gun. Hopefully when I get the correct sticks I can remedy this problem. Thanks for your video on glue guns and I intend to keep watching. From Australia ❤
I still have my original glue pot and gun from the late 1980's! I just invested in a new one only because it does a much thinner line and the tip can be change. (This Southern Girl You Tube had one.) I don't use low heat at all. But I don't craft with children and glue guns. Thanks again for another great video.
thanks so much for this video lol I was just trying to research glue guns...I do hair bows and need a skinny tip I have used the lynn lilly one in the past and was very pleased.
The glue guns I use are Aleene glue gun that I've had for a good 10yrs. And just recent is Westcott glue gun and pencil glue gun. Those are the ones I love. Thank you for the comparison of the glue guns.
I have 6 different kinds my corded cool shot is my go to never really drips and you can actually touch the glue. Plus for the glue being a cool glue it holds very well.
This is an excellent comparison. You always do such a good job. I have two surebonder guns and they both drip. I have another brand (can’t remember name) and it drips also. I would love for you to compare glue sticks. Surebonder, gorilla, Cricut DollarTree etc. Gorilla is supposed to be good for any craft such as wood, cardstock, fabric. The others offer different sticks for these things I think. Thanks Angie
I have the large expensive Ryobi cordless it leaks horrible I love the cordless aspect the battery lasts forever and gets nice and hot but the dripping is horrible.
Depends on the application. They make high strength glue and all sorts of other specialty applications that would be unique. For just standard crafts, I just reach for whatever is handy.
Thank you for this video! It was really helpful. I've seen another comparison to the Cricut glue gun, but they didn't show as many as you did. I've been considering purchasing a new glue gun, specifically a cordless one. I hate the cord. It just gets in the way. The Surebonder Lynn Lily I think it's called seems to be the way to go for me. The stand is great! I love the little drip tray, which I never did see any drips on. Thanks for helping me to make up my mind!
I have a hate, hate relationship with my mid price range glue gun. 🙃 The quality is beyond bad. Can you say cheap? Your video will help me decide on better choices. Thnx 🌸
@@AngieHolden thank you - that’s good to know when i have to purchase more. I didn’t realize it was diameter. Love your videos. You are very informative. Thank you.
@AngieHolden - Hi Angie. When you mentioned that you also used a large diameter glue stick for the "Lynn Lily" hot glue gun, how many inches in diameter are you talking about?
The Cricut replacement sticks are twice as long as the ones that come with the gun (not sure why they don’t give the double-length ones with it… would make the experience better I think). I got mine on sale (somehow) on launch day for $23… but for $40 forget it…
I tend to use high temp most often. Low temp would be good for something that is foam as the high temp would melt the object. That is one example but I think you get the idea!
Are the tips of any of the guns changeable? I have a cordless one myself and love that I'm able to change out the tips. It came with 2 tips and the smallest tip is still too big for my liking so i bought a smaller tip online. Might be something some people want to take into consideration.
@@AngieHolden oh that's a shame. I got mine this year and it's an own brand called Ozito from Bunnings in Australia. They are our version of Home Depot and Masters. It's battery operated and stands up on its own. I put a tile underneath to catch any drips. Thank you for all your hard work in making the UA-cam videos.
I'm not a crafter . . . . yet. binge-watching many channels for inspiration. I am, a carpenter and that's where I see some pros. I would simply make a stand for my glue gun. I'm surprised with all the crafting going on that I have yet to see ANY crafter suggest or show having made their own stand. Must not be a big deal I guess. *** Edit **** why not glue on a stick or something to make the trigger longer on short guns?
Oh my goodness, I probably have 15-20 glue guns. I got big tips, little tips, hot glue, low temp, cordless. You name it. Have tried it! Hmm… another glue gun. I like surebonder myself. I love that the surebonder has cordless and stand. I like a stand for my glue guns. I love other things of cricut, but I don’t think that I would like the glue gun unless they make a few changes to it.
I have to laugh as I didn't even know Cricut came out with a glue gun. My Lynn Lilly is my favorite for several reasons. I love the fine tip, the stand and the fact that it can be used cordless for a bit. I also have a totally cordless one from Amazon and love that one as well when I need to be complete electric free for a bit. Then I have an OLD Craftsman glue gun from the early 80's, don't use that one a lot as it is bigger but it's still a good glue gun. I'm not impressed with the Cricut glue gun at all and the price point really turns me off. I think it is the no stand that I don't like about it and the price point. I know you think it is cute, but I don't find it cute. lol Different strokes, different folks thing. Loved the comparison of all the glue guns, you did a nice job as always. Hugs, Brenda
I have the Like 5. Two Ryobi ones, we r memory, a Wescott and the other I can’t find. Might have to get your book to see those tips. Thanks again
I always press down slightly at the end and twist the gun to break the string. I do have troubule with the glue cooling if I am using a low temp gun. But a good hot gun is usually okay for a while!
@@AngieHolden I’m so cheap ! Cricut one looks really nice. I may have to upgrade to an auto shut off one. There’s a few times I was ecstatic my house didn’t burn down !

I'm glad I got the Cricut glue gun for free with their promo. I can't see myself spending $40 on ot. I love my SureBonder Glue Gun.
The Ryobi with the built-in drip tray & changable nozzles is my favorite. The bigger Ryobi glue gun is my 2nd favorite.

Where do you find this with the interchangeable tips?

Can anyone suggest a plug in medium size glue gun that has a separate base to cradle the gun in between gluing????
Is the Lynn Lily one shown here not what you are looking for?
