I thought I commented but it looks like it didn't submit (probably because I linked to my mini factory). I'm the second serpent horde list and you're pretty spot on. I got a really nice third party betrayer on fell beast 3D print and am painting him up in a desert theme so that's the entire reason for the list haha. The fell beast armour and the 2 hasharin are just ways to spend more points whilst adding the fewest number of models to paint. Most of my hobby time has been dedicated to more terrain for some of our tables! If time and money weren't a factor it would definitely be a full cav list
And that my dude is totally understandable. Getting a new model, especially a cool sculpt is a great reason to start building a list. And you never know you might stumble across a really good list by doing it. Never take our list reviews as us ridiculing yours or anyone else's list. Everyone has their reason for their list and a lot of the time it's as you said 'time and money' Good luck at the GT mate -Sean
Love the coverage fellas. Good to see someone who knows what they're talking about on this thing... it's Jay btw. I do agree that I would've liked to get more models with Elessar and Gandalf. I think I capped out at 36 models total if all I ran was WoMT with 2 knights and the Bolt Thrower but then I don't have Fight 4 and the only shots I have are 4+ and no bodyguard. That was a genuine list consideration. I did 100% make a mistake in list building by not double checking the Players Pack to see the scenarios - I've lately been reading the QLD GT so I thought Tassie was fixed not veto.... yeah I added a physical banner... that's an extra 2 guys 😂 I think the trade off of 6 warriors is worth it when I have F4 D7 models with bodyguard backed by Rangers. If all goes to plan the Fountain Court Guards should be bogging down the biggest threat the enemy have - wounding on 6's ideally - while Aragorn chops as fast as he can and having 8 of them means I can do it for a while a couple turns even if I lose prio. Whether it works or not... who knows.
for the thorin/gwahir list 0in's alright. only way to get banner-type rerolls in the list, healing herbs which is great with this many low-ish defence multiwound heroes and could save you vps if he heals your leader. heroic resolve vs casters. he's not who i'd pick, but i can see the reasons he's there. ori's better, but the guy might rate the rerolls higher, particularly for the big pigeon.
Definitely rate the ability to heal, especially when plenty of them will pick up random wounds here and there. Although your leader will still count as being wounded if they are subsequently healed. -Alex
This GT has basically just said, we don't care about meta we just love this game! I'm here for it! I mean, it won't stop me taking the Dragon Emperor somewhere but I'll take him cause I love the model not the meta. Know what I mean! hehehehe
Terrifying Hobbits is going to be interesting not many shamans or aura of commands floating around. Goblin town is definitely the best list all around, probability of bringing 30 goblins seems possible now that his courage is increased
