So according to GW, morgul knights didnt get scrapped they simply changed name to Black Númenórean Knights, however none of the new formations have them, so whats up with that?
Depends on what their wargear options are. So you can only select one of what's listed under a profile. Some allow for spear and shield, others may not In the case for the rangers of Gondor, they come with a bow baked into their profile and I believe they have the option to purchase a spear. If this is the case then yes you can have rangers with spear and bow. -Sean

I'm confused about mounts that stick around after the rider is dead, and how it's calculated for questering. I understand that for breaking it counts as a model killed, that's fine. But for quartering, where the important value is models left on the table, you'll have stray wargs running around that don't count? That doesn't sound easy to keep track of, or even logical in terms of what the rule should represent.

Shield wall Uruk makes little thematic sense, they were standing in a row at Helms deep, they don't seem to fight in an organised supporting manner that a shield wall requires

It's the same "elven-made" rule as in the current edition (someone who had the book and posting pics from it said it on mesbg discord). They just gave it to a whole bunch of weapons for the elves instead of just swords so no more crappy imported spears from Gondor. Elven lances on Rivendell Knights (and Captain) is pretty spicy.

I love all this part of the new edition, the new rules and profiles (most of them) are amazing. But the army list... they are not for me. There are a lot of models missing at the momment and i do not know how they are gonna make it different with the armys of the middle earth rules. For now i am thinking playing with the new rules and profiles, but building the armys the old way until AOTME comes out. My comunnity is kinda small and a lot of friends have their armys on the air at the momment.
Shooting was always true line of sight for what you can see, but base to base for the purpose of measuring the distance. Now in an elevated position, you measure to the closest point of the model
I still don't like the Two-Handed Weapon rules, it's still unbalanced with too much counterpart. And over that, too much dwarves have now to deal with Two-Handed weapon only (Grim-Hammer and Thorin's Company).

Just gonna have to play in a different style. There's gonna be a lot more kiting with them. Don't over commit to combats, but when you decide to throw everything at your opponent make sure it's a killing blow. You'll need to dictate the game and force your opponent to play in a way they don't want to. -Sean

They did do a Testudo formation to protect their ram at Helms Deep, so not that crazy in my opinion

Shooting has always been true line of sight, not base to base. But its nothing hard to judge.
