So this song responds to critics who complained that they didn’t sing in Spanish. It was their first Spanish song. The guest drummer is Beto Ramos who is Pau’s drum teacher and did the audio mixing for this video. Beto is also in the band Jumbo.

And yet they did follow this, with two encores, Martirio and Evolve. Just when you thought they couldn't do better, here they come with absolutely epic performances of those two songs. The whole Teatro Metropolitan series is epic, in my opinion.
This song was Pau's big middle finger to their critics who blasted them for singing in English. She basically said, "oh, you want us to sing in Spanish? Here you go, enjoy the roast!" Hi Red, Pau becomes the frontwoman that she’ s always been. YAY! There are two great videos of The Warning when they were younger, I think 2020, when Pau sings Narcisista while drumming. She is just amazing. Look for Vivo en Foro Didi in Monterrey and at the Whiskey A Gogo. Look at the joy and excitement in Dany’s face, to have Pau with them ‘in the trenches!’ This is what you get when you get Pau mad. Greatness!

Another great reaction Red, it's easy to see that you have joined The Warning Army. So much unbelievable talent in one band. They share the spotlight so easily, look how happy Dany and Ale are having Pau out front with them. It's the same in their interviews, they always say Pau writes the lyrics, and Pau always comes back and says they work out the songs together, it's like ego never gets in the way. They always do whatever makes the song best, and they don't care who does it. They just want to make great music, and they always succeed.
This is my favourite solo by Dany. I still can't figure out how Beto can play that well squeezed into a kit set up for someone Pau sized. (Arejay Hale looked pretty cramped when he did the drumming for this when they toured with Halestorm)
Growing in popularity in the US? I think so. Last weekend I went to a local minor league hockey game, they played the usual songs from AC/DC, Neil Diamond, etc. But they also played "More" by The Warning. It made me so happy. :)

The guest is Beto Ramos drummer of the mexican band Jumbo and Pau's drum teacher.
Beto Ramos is a double Latin Grammy nominated drummer & founder of Mexican band, Jumbo. He is also Pau's current drum mentor & friend. Furthermore, he has been involved with the band's production of late, including mixing of audio of this concert in 2022 & recording of a few songs for their 4th album, Keep Me Fed, in 2023.
Pau had fronted the band on & off over the past 5 years or so. Here she is with Nirvana's Breed in 2019 on their tour of Argentina with Eruca Sativa.

Foro Didi was the first live presentation of this song. Pau was extremely intense.in that performance. She wanted to deliver a message and did it!
When they were on tour with Halestorm, Arejay Hale came out and played drums on this. There are a few fan-shot videos of Pau out front singing on those shows as well.

This is about the Mexican music press accusing them of being traitors for singing in English. This is the first song they ever did in Spanish. It's a three minute middle finger from Pau to all of those critics.

Pau is a drummer, singer, producer, Director and anything else she wants to do. The sky is the limit for these ladies.
the mark of truly great pop/rock songs - the hooks and the choruses stick in your head after just one listen - they sound so natural and right that you can't quite believe you haven't heard them before, not many musicians can produce that sort of song - Johann Strauss, The Beatles, Abba, 10cc, there have been a few, and now The Warning are joining that elite bunch, giving us songs that grab us instantly - genius.
I love this so much. Aside from the obvious, that it is an amazing performance, we also see what are really best frothing a blast doing what they love. The energy is palpable and infectious. Great reaction!!!
A kind soul has put subtitles to the debut of Narcisista at Foro Didi in June 2019 for those of us who don't speak Spanish. All my observations are with respect to this premiere. The translation explains Pau's single handed theatrics during certain verses of the song.

How many 16 year olds has the guts to stand up to her critics & tell them to shut up instead of cowering away? Fed up with constant barrage from a section of the Mexican press about why they only sing in English, Pau wrote this acerbic riposte. The girls then presented the 1st draft to their mom for grammatical check in Spanish. Legend has it that Mony asked them to tone down the vitriol as she was afraid of the backlash her daughters might receive.
However you can see the viciousness in Pau's presentation when The Warning debuted Narcisista at Foro in 2019 - aged 19, 17 & 14.

Cherry on the cake is when she rubs it in with "No soy loca ni Malinchista" or Neither am I mad nor Malinchista. Malinche was an Aztec (Nahua) woman who helped the Spanish conquerors in taking control of Mexico some 5 centuries back. Hence the term Malinchista for a woman who prefers foreign people, culture, goods, etc. over her own roots. A cultural turncoat if you like.
Ahh...the delicious irony of time when on 16th June 2023 some 500 Spaniards joined Pau & her sisters to sing Narcisista and exactly those words for the 1st time in Madrid.
The conquered have become the conqueror now.
Pau has to feel so much pride, her drum teacher up there behind her kit, drumming on a song that she, I'm guessing, wrote the drum parts for. And I think mr. Ramos is very proud of her too, and of himself, he did a great job with his young padawan, if Dany and Ale start to float around in the air while singing and playing, we know who's responsible. I don't speak spanish, but Narcisista is one of my absolute favorite songs by them.
The narcissistic song was born as a response to all the hatred that was thrown at the girls from their own country because they only sang in English and not in Spanish, they explained that they sang more in English because it was much easier for them to compose in this language than in Spanish, but people still attacked them.
Paulina (Pau) was the one who composed the song as a response to that attack of hatred and it turned out spectacularly.
Pau is just a little ball of energy. It's evident when she's behind her drum kit, but here she's been unleashed.
What can follow that? I believe they're going into the encore and "Evolve," I believe, was the last song of the night.

I've said this before and seen others say it too that i think these ladies would play and perform like that wheather they was playing in front of 10 or 10,000 people they love to play they take it seriously and it just comes out of them naturally. Yes they've been doing it for a while, yes they practice a lot they do everything they need to be great but Dany Pau and Ale were born to be RockStars 🤟.

Like you, I wish I knew Spanish so I could TRULY understand this "finger in your face" song she wrote to the naysayers who thought The Warning "sold out" their culture by playing in English. I took basic Spanish my sophomore year in high school. Didn't remember much of it but now that I've been listening to their Spanish songs and their Spanish interviews, I realize I know more than zero. I probably recognize 20%. Think it may be time for a language app on my laptop.

Well, how about Evolve, and then Martirio. That's how they finished out this simply amazing concert! Pau was so overwhelmed by the atmosphere, the occasion, that she briefly broke down in tears. I've watched the entire show on UA-cam, and it's one of those that are so special you just wish you could have been there.

@@redheadedneighbor While Beato has been her most recent drum coach there seems to be a misunderstanding. He is not her first nor only teacher. Among other things it was her first teacher that encouraged her to sing while drumming, unfortunately I can't remember his name. Since Beato was also in the band Los Claxons along with Pablo Sarre, Ale's bass teacher, they possibly have known each other for quite some time. I don't know how many she has had over the years both as formal teachers and as drummers showing her different techniques. There is a short series of Enrique Gonzalez aka Bugs from the band Los Lobos showing her some things when he was at their home. Bugs visits with The Warning 1 of 5. Also, the members of the Argentinian band Eruca Sativa had a big impact when they took The Warning on tour with them and since then. Brenda Martin spent a fair amount of time with Ale working on bass as well.
Not that they ever met but someone she has claimed as an inspiration was Neil Peart of the band Rush.
Perhaps someone will fill in some of the names of other teachers since I don't remember them & Google search couldn't remind me.
"I'm no malinchista". From reading on the internet, La Malinche was a multilingual native woman who was enslaved and became the mistress of Cortez, the Spanish conqueror, helping him against Aztec and Mayan people. Her name represents cultural treachery, of which some Mexicans accused The Warning. Don't piss off Pau or she'll write a song about you!
