You should try the same soap design in hot and cold process soap to see if the two different processes change anything about the overall look of the soap. Just an idea it may be too much for a video.
Right seriously yesterday I thought ‘I wonder why cold process soap is never clear, I am going to send a message to Katie and ask’. I never did because my daughter is sick then this video comes up!! You read my mind!!!
3 ways 1. Replace your water with frozen goats milk. 2. Add goat milk as an additive to your oils 3. Add goats milk powder to your mix Personally, I use #1
@@madtabby66 as an additive? I only know 1 and 3. do you mean to replace the liquid only a little bit? So not all of the water? Or is there a third method I don't know yet?
I also took Amanda’s class and agree she makes it so easy to try new things! (FYI - my batch stayed clear after re-melting and wasn’t getting the film on top, but I adjusted the solvents a bit and used a combination of denatured alcohol + isopropyl alcohol 99% because I can’t get Everclear where I am.) Also, I found the larger to be better after the soap cured for a couple of weeks (although didn’t get an amazingly huge amount of lather). That being said - yes, please share other trials in addition to your amazing CP creations! I’m curious about how you might make a whipped soap - I feel like your creativity with soap frosting lends itself to whipped soap (but I’ve never made it, so that’s just an assumption.) But really anything - I thoroughly enjoy watching your creative process. 😍
I was going through a hard time the other night. Your videos allowed me to detach and take a breath after getting so emotional. I really appreciate your content.
I've done this, it was surprisingly easy. I used a slow cooker (instead of a double boiler) and propylene glycol as the alcohol (instead of everclear bc we don't have that in ireland) as it re melts better I think.
I personally think hot process is a lot of fun to make and I get rid of embeds by suspending them in the cooked hp soap. Liquid soap requires WAY too much time and the end result is no better than what I can buy. Many fragrances will cloud your liquid soap you've worked to diligently to make clear.
"I know most of you are never gonna make this" glad you know your audience. Idk why I watch soap videos but I like them. I'm never going to make cold process soap. Also, with fall coming up I'd love to see dark red or black soaps. The Anna Karenina one is just stunning.
I’ve always been curious about what hot process really is since my quick UA-cam search last year didn’t bring up anything super informative. Liquid soap would also be super cool since that’s another thing I have no idea how they make.
for creamy soaps, I once tried to melt a bar of that in some water, let it sit overnight and blend it with a stickmixer, and it was just like the liquid creamy soap :)

I find it really interesting to watch the different soap making adventures you do. I don't use bar soap at all due to bad experiences with it as a child - always made my hands so sore! And I don't know enough about what was in those soaps to tell what exactly it was that caused the soreness I felt. They also left my hands feeling weirdly slimy after washing off, but like dry and slimy which makes zero sense now I think about it. Just it always felt like I needed to wash my hands after using soap to wash them because they felt dirtier than before washing them! I now exclusively use a liquid soap which is made of just a few ingredients - water, decyl glucoside, vegetable glycerine, xanthan gum, and apple cider vinegar. And then its fragranced with lavender and cedarwood essential oils. I avoid anything using "fragrance oils" as I can't be sure with only "fragrance" what that actually contains so can't be sure if I'll have a reaction to it or not. I love the look of lots of the bar soaps out there but daren't try them since I still don't know exactly what it is that sets me off. It's not limited to the one brand so ??? I was wondering though, is it possible to make a soap using only one oil type or does it have to be a blend? The only oil I know for sure I don't have a problem with is olive oil (others have caused me issues and I don't know why) so I'd be interested in you trying or just making a bar soap which only uses olive oil as the base oil to see how differently that performs.

Since most of that would involve grinding minerals down which often requires industrial machinery to do so to a fine enough degree to use in this kind of product, or at minimum a lot of grinding with a pestle and mortar, I doubt it would be that worthwhile of an endeavour. You also don't want to be breathing in micas which is more likely if you're grinding them by hand as opposed to just adding a spoonful from the jar and stirring it into soap.
Mica is a mineral found primarily in India. I don’t think quarantine and mica-mining would go well together, not to mention all the child labor that goes into producing mica.

Hi Katie! Every couple of months I make a huge batch of clear glycerin soap that i use in a few of my cps soap designs. The first time I made it was nerve-wracking and I had the same results as you. After a few times of making it, I got better at it. The sugar part is really important I found out. And when you pour into the final design, stir like crazy and pour fast. The skin on top issue is worth it rather than the propylene glycol that is in store bought. Thank you for this video! I laughed so hard at the spoon part! 🥄

It's a good idea whenever working with substances that are very hot to also keep nearby a large bowl of ice and water. If you get something very hot on your hand/fingers you can put it directly into the ice water! Whenever I make candy, using extremely hot sugar, I do this. Also, heatproof gloves may be needed. The gloves you are wearing will melt to your hand instead of guarding you from the heat.

Me: *gets notification*
Also me: *excitedddddd*
Lirit 17th like :)
TheEverythingGirl :D
I love your comments about supporting other small business's, I do the same, I crochet toys, I can work out the patterns myself, but it someone already has done all the hard time consuming work I am happy to buy the pattern :) so love watching your channet Katie
"Where's my spoon?! I can't find my spoon!" gave me traumatic flashbacks to the funeral scene from 'My Girl'. "Where are his glasses? He can't see without his glasses!" 😭😭⚰
I like this new style! Making melt and pour, testing fragrance oils,... So cool that you show us new things.
You losing the spoon right in front of you is so relatable, I "lose" things all the time only for my bf to tell me it's right in front of me 😂
I’ve “lost” my phone before...while I was talking to someone on it. 🤣
I absolutely LOVE your quirkiness, you are so much fun to watch 🤗
I could smell the everclear through the screen and got flashbacks to freshman year of college
Same!!
I learnt so many things from your channel about soap that I didn't know I need. Thank you for that.
Katie: "So we're gonna start with some everclear"
Everyone: *highschool-college flashbacks*
Momento Mori my friend (I'm basing this off your profile pic but maybe you just thought the pattern was cool and I've just confused you a lot)
Memento mori
@@separatedfox unus gang for life
Those were good memories, but the clock never stops ticking
Yep very true p
Who else needs more of these tooo
It would really help people like me to start the idea of making soap with a smaaaallll budget
Like just with the resonate ones
LIQUID SOAP! LIQUID SOAP!! LIQUID SOAP!!! WHAT DO WE WANT: LIQUID SOAP!!; WHEN DO WE WANT IT: NOW!!!!
Yes! Agreed😃
Who thinks that Katie should write a book about soap making? 📚
Id love to see you try more new soap methods, is so interesting to watch!
Waiting for my bumblebee soap to arrive. So excited:)
Also; hehe xd first
Olivia Smith I hope you enjoy her soaps!
I love your personality when you’re trying something new. It’s like a kid at Disney! 🥰
You should try making a bar of soap out of the worst quality melt and pour you can find
I don't understand why you don't have more subscribers, you are so educational and downright delightful to watch. I've said it before, you are the most positive little corner on UA-cam lol.
Royalty soaps make mash potatoes
yes! please try more methods of soapmaking! i would love to see hot process as well as whipped soap (idk the technical name) but i would love to see more new methods whichever you do pick!
can u made a shower soap like a jijjly soap
Kitty And Friends she does have a jiggly soap tutorial from a few years ago, but it isn’t from scratch. Still a cool vid!
@@katelillo1932 thank u for lettimg me know
I love when you try new things but I also love when you just do you!
Everclear you say... hey kids mom is off to the liquor store lol
Everclear is the strongest alcohol you can buy at the liquor store and it can be used in making clear soap
I don’t understand why people are disliking this video!!
Yes! You’re such a lovely learner- it’s wonderful to watch your journey.
What would happen if she put inbeds in clear soap???
I think she did a 'fishpond' clear soap a while ago, with soap clay seaweed and a toy goldfish. Looked very fun
@@wiggle_duck9063 oooh that sounds nice
Thank you Katie! For sharing your tips, tricks, & education on soapmaking. Love you!
