"The Main Ingredient" is my absolute favorite hip hop album ever... Even before "Illmatic" (sorry, Nas). This instrumental version should be protected at all costs. PR is a production genius.

I always thought Pete Rock, Q Tip and Large Professor had a similar production style it's as if they had the same ears, they're like variants of one another from different perspectives. The main ingredient track sounds like something Q Tip produced and rhymed over as an example of what I am pointing out.
I hold Primo, Pete Rock, and Large Pro up in the highest regards as the trinity of hip-hop production. Q-Tip, Erick Sermon, DJ Muggs, Showbiz, Lord Finesse, Diamond D, RZA, Sir Jinx, Cold 187UM (Above the Law V.S.O.P), K-Def, Dilla, and Da Beatminerz definitely are all honorable mentions as well!

My opinion to this, I truly really think this album is better than the first. Because Pete concentrated on the tracks with pure funk soul with less horns and the vibrations on this album with kicking speakers in the car or house, beats is banging. My woofers fell all over the place. Shhhhhit!
