I rarely buy books from interviews, and I LOVED this interview SO MUCH that I immediately bought Lisa's book. What she has to say about our "inner critic" is the missing piece I've been trying to work out with it for YEARS!
What you both say about the gap, and not taking the criticism personally from others, is so relevant to where I'm at now.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. Most well-timed interview, truly!

Love this! It is so refreshing to hear women talk about why they don’t want children. I knew from an early age it wasn’t for me and I don’t regret it one bit, even though it meant the end of my marriage. I’m living my dream life as an artist and am totally free. You ladies are an inspiration 💖💖💖

I so wish this information was readily available 18 years ago when I knew I didn’t want to kids but gave into the pressure of my Polish family. Somehow my mother managed to convince me that life without kids was meaningless. I look back and think WTf??!! What I did learn is to allow my kids to live life according their desires and explore their options and not to buy into societal norms. Thank you for talking about “the kids” topic and stressing that it’s a choice. So super important even today. THANK YOU ❤️

Thank you so much for this talk. I could relate to it so much. especially the bit of beating myself for being a housewife for about 9 years and be happy with it, yet unhappy about not being serious about building a career for myself. Loved "the no bullshit , what would it take " part the most. It made a lot of sense. Now that I am currently running my business, going through the struggle to make it work , i have let go of my 9 years old self I still miss the good bits of it, I feel more satisfied as a person fulfilling all the dreams I had for myself.

Oh my gosh, yes, Lisa! Thank you!! “It’s about assessing what is actually true to you, and asking yourself, Is that a belief I was given or do I actually believe it?” Wow, wow, wow… so much resonance with this!!!
And what’s interesting to me about this resonance I’m feeling, is that I myself happen to be a mom of three kids and I am SUCH a mother!! Ha! 🤣 My mother identity is actually probably my truest identity. In fact, I recently had such a powerful revelation that everything I do in life - whether it’s actually mothering my kids, or it’s producing a film, designing a space, gathering a team, or helping people feel at home… it’s all encompassed in my MOTHER identity. I mother stuff! And I’m damn good at it too!!
But what I find so cool, in relationship to your awesome interview… is that my uncovering of this truth about myself and the joy of embracing what’s true for me… is what makes me feel SO particularly connected to you two gorgeous humans, NOT because we’re in some “mother club” together, but because we’re in the doing-whatever-the-fuck-feels-good-to-me club!!! Which is totally not a club, but actually a glorious sense of freedom!!!
Anyway, I’m going to go back to watching the rest of this amazing interview, and I think you’re about to remind me that, just like it’s beyond okay and a wonderful decision for you guys not to have children… it‘s also important for me to challenge my beliefs about how I SHOULD want to be an entrepreneur… because it’s not about the inherent value of any of the paths we could choose, it’s about what each of us actually wants!!!
Wow, long comment, I know… but you’re both absolutely lighting me up and inspiring me today, with your beautiful conversation!
So thank you, thank you!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Just be a Do'er, Don't be a Don'ter! LOL Be so damn busy doing what you have to do to the point where you are too occupied to entertain your fears, which denies the doubts that follow. Pre-occupy yourself with faith and can-do spirit, a winning attitude, and determination. We are serial by nature, which means hear and now at a particular moment means one sensation, one action, one emotion and one matter to focus on at a time. We must not experience too many things at once, this will ruin our confidence. Confidence should not be about who we are or feel about ourselves, that all has to do with identity and our belief system. Confidence should be about knowledge, opportunity, ability, capability, and possibility. If you reserve your emotional state to be "exclusively" for pure determination, then you won't have the capacity or resources to entertain fears, doubts, and insecurities. We are already confident by nature to the extent of our experience and awareness, it is the excitement of something new and better that we should be fostering and rallying within ourselves. Dream. We are emotional beings, and we must use that to our advantage. We can let fear taint the meaning of our moment, degrade or devalue the meaning of things, relationships, and our ideas or we can take charge and be and do on purpose, with the courage to insist on success by opposing negative forces within us by use of positively charged emotions. Determination is an emotion, you can positively intensify your determination to succeed, the same way an upset person can intensify his emotional state into rageful anger and hate. We must first win within ourselves by opposing negativity on purpose via our ability to believe and enforce positivity and then we can win where we stand, and as a force to be reckoned with. If you are not positively charged then you are weak and easily intimidated by your own shadow. You will detect and recognize weak ideas, beliefs and energy in the language and words of choice of your inner voice. Most of this weak and poor quality existence stems from a poor choice of identity, what you have chosen to identify with, represent and or stand for in the past, present, or the future, consciously or unconsciously. Just be conscientious from here on about what you say to yourself, what you do and believe, care for, like and dislike. If you don't stand for something, in particular, that's right, you'll fall for anything. You'll be a follower and lose your individuality, your power of "I". I am, I can, I will, I believe, I like, I love, I do, etc. Just own it, and you'll own the moment for yourself.
