Almost anyone (at least with good credit) can go and purchase a new sled. But almost nobody can restore a sled like you guys. Absolutely stunning!

back in the day they needed a lot of tuning right from the factory. Once tuning was figured out, they surprised a lot of people, same with the ultra. and storm. They all had long legs for their displacement size!! Love it!!
Great comment. You are 100 percent correct. After spending a couple weekends tuning Cheapo in, it runs perfect.

Awesome job on cheapo. It's a beautiful & badass sled rolled into one. The aggressive chassis is under appreciated. Glad to see someone give them the credit they deserve. Love the set-up!!!!
Thanks man. I was never a fan of the aggressive but they are going on me now that I have done some of my own twist on them.
I put Scotty seat covers on 2 of my sleds because of Todd.

Just got my first triple, rode it off of my trailer to my shop to put away for the year. I can see why people love these sleds and I can’t wait for this upcoming riding season.

Best of my knowledge, there was 2 years of this sled. 97 and 98. 98 was a power valve motor
97 was the only year of the 680 spx. 98 was badged as a xcr 700 but was running the 680 spx engine and pipes. 99 was a true 700 then with power valves and a one year only sled.
Wow, that's a sweet job on Cheapo! I just love the sound of the ol 90's triples....can't beat it! I just happened to find one of these same sleds on craiglist for $1100 with 5400 miles! Itching to get it and see how little $$ to get it this sweet! Thnx

I have an exact same ultra I bought last year for 350 bucks... thing runs absolutely amazing.. I just got a phone call this morning from a friend that is picking me up a set of PSI trailblaster pipes for it. Also that junker sled event in three lakes,wi I competed in that event 2 years ago.. it's an absolute blast event..
The pictures I got from the event definitely looks like my kind of fun🤣🤣
The sled turned out great. Although I'm more of a wedge fan, that sucker looks sharp.
The aggressives are growing on me for sure

Wow boys that sled turned out amazing! Great work once again! So nice to see some sled content again!!! Been looking at a 1997 Yamaha v-max XT 600 on marketplace. For $500 and apparently everything works and comes with new track. Have heard more bad things than good on these v-max's... Would really appreciate your thoughts! Thanks my friend!

beautiful machine. if you can get the clutch engaging close to 5000 it will make a world of difference. they're a bit of a dog till then but when they hit 5000, they just light right up

Hey Todd - I just picked up a 97 SPX SKS same as this one that’s in great shape but has a bad bog mid-range that it can’t seem to get past. Plugs are new and it has 120psi in all three cylinders. Where would you dive into to problem solve it?
We had to lean then the needle position on Cheapo. Raise the clip lowering the needle. We left the mag factory rich
