Toto presents "With A Little Help From My Friends".
The performance captures one special night on November 21, 2020 when Steve Lukather, Joseph Williams and David Paich appeared with the new line-up of TOTO for a global event originating from Los Angeles, CA. Joining Lukather, Williams and Paich for this next chapter in their indelible history are new band members bassist John Pierce (Huey Lewis and The News), drummer Robert “Sput” Searight (Ghost-Note / Snarky Puppy), and keyboardist / background vocalist Steve Maggiora (Robert Jon & The Wreck). Keyboardist Dominique “Xavier” Taplin (Prince, Ghost-Note) and multi-instrumentalist / vocalist Warren Ham (Ringo Starr) segued over continuing their tenure in the ensemble. This marks the fifteenth incarnation of the TOTO line-up in consideration of band members or sidemen who joined or exited.

I am Japanese.
As far as I remember, I first heard Western music when I was in elementary school.
And it was a song I was allowed to listen to on record in my mother's cousin's room.
The melody of the chorus part of the song is different from the music I have heard before, and I still remember my cousin's room with nostalgia when I hear that part.
Amazing version! Joe is in great vocal form and the tribute to Bobby was very gracious 🥰🙏

Finally. Toto sounding again as toto. Nice balanced parts. Great vocals. Keys are also great. And Luke not freakin' all the time but just a nice musical melodic solo. Just what he can do best in stead of the 100.000 notes per nano second. Great perfomance. Loved it! Best band all time

@@CaptainSpyware For instance, is Luke's sound still the same as in the 80's? What I mean by this is that this how they play this song really uses the right tempo, parts and instruments back in the days.
1:25 and 2:03 drummer is reaching back for the drum tech to hand him a stick, meantime playing the hi-hat and snare one-handed without missing a tight beat! Nice!

Joe has said many times, over thirty years he was a fan of Bobby Kimball. And Kimball loves Joes voice also.

Great to see TOTO back, as good as Bobby Kimble wasand he was! I think Joseph Williams voice is brilliant for Toto. Its just like another lovely instrument , it blends so perfectly, no straining, suits the jazz - blues side of it, as well as the rock. Joe and Steve Lukather must always stay together, sorry David Paich isn't able to travel to other time zones. Its hard to take that we are all ageing, brilliant new members, love them, also love that you respect and love the Porcaros , its brilliant to see and to hear Steve L. make fab comments about them. We must never forget, the joy you have given to People all over the world. Thankyou! you are all true musicians and singers. Keep going Lads we love you xx

@@mikaelstrom1114 Yes, it is, Kimballs daughter Allison confirmed it about 3yrs ago. And also this is not about politics, the Media protects Joe Biden by keeping certain things on him from the public but he's taking medication for DEMENTIA too, thats why his press conferences are so scripted, and his handlers won't let him take questions if any, that illness is nothing to play with and since Kimball has been out of Toto since 2008, UA-cam shows all Kimballs post TOTO concerts, did you notice we haven't seen or heard from him since 2017? He already suffered hearing loss but hes 74 now and Biden is 78, this illness is serious business.
@@waltersimmons946 Thanks for the update! I heard some live performances where he was totally off, but hoped it was hearing issues that he could sort out over time. But dementia... it breaks my heart. With regards to politics, i don't believe what ANYONE say about ANYTHING anymore... I'm probably pretty close to a political-tin-foil-hat to something :D

@@danielscotland1971 well, in a certain way he is part of this line-up. As Luke calls him "The Grand Poobah" of this new Toto line up. Unfortunately he can't tour anymore.

@@danielscotland1971 Yes, unfortunately. He uses medication that he has to take at cerrain times during the day, so travelling to other timezones is not possible. At least, that's what Luke says during interviews.

@Ivano Cogo I think they can't release any new studio album with the name Toto, but perhaps they could change the name slightly to New Toto, for example. I heard that that's all it takes to solve the issue.
@@soulsouljazz07because of Jeff’s widow… who sued Luke over the rights to the Toto name. Luke was absolutely livid and apparently, this was serious that it also strained his relationship with the last surviving Porcaro brother, Steve, who apparently relinquished his rights to the Toto name.
Ha,ha the current "version" of TOTO , performing "You are the flower" written and originally sung by TOTOs, best vocalist Bobby Kimball. Never thought this day would come but its a good tribute.

A song I love performed with all the verve of the original. One of Steve Lukather's best solos, and he comes up with the goods here too. Joseph Williams is superb. Great line-up!
believe it or not, it was my favorite on the debut album in 1978. everybody was like, what??? I think, not a lot of guys can sing that, Joseph Williams can. incredible.

The Seventh One, Mindfields and Falling In Between are right up there with it in my own ranking. But yeah, as a complete experience Toto's debut is like Mt. Everest.

With the tour pushed back, hope Luke, Joseph and Dave will record a new Toto studio album (TOTO XV) with these amazing cats, and then tour all 3 new albums in one go in 2022 and beyond.
To be honest, a new album seems difficult as long as the lawsuit with Susan Goings (Jeff's widow) is still on... I hope they work it out.
Personally, imho a new Toto album should feature Luke, Dave, Joe, Steve P & Simon Phillips - they are the real core of the band, even if Simon is doing his stuff right now, he voiced that he would be interested in joining Toto again IF the circumstances are right and the material that he recorded with the band is featured.
Plus Nathan East, Lee Sklar, Greg Philinganes, Lenny Castro and Tony Spinner.

Yep, he wrote that song, for his new born daughter, Allison back then and I heard the demo version, it was done in 2 takes.

They should've brought Sput on back in 2014 when Simon left. He works surprisingly well with Toto.
Shannon Forrest is not a bad drummer, but with TOTO he was too much of a Jeff-clone, even playing a Drumset that is basically 1:1 the same that Jeffrey did/would play today, while Simon and Sput have their own strong personality and playing style
No one can hold a candle to the original vocal performance of this song. That being said, I absolutely love Joe’s take on it, incredible rendition. Joe and Luke somehow holding it altogether with another insane line up.

Holy Smokes! Feels like the 44-th incarnation of Toto might carry the flame. Ha! Love the deep cuts. Kimball & Williams are equals. Got to love Williams' extraordinary feel & rhythm, how he sings in between the beat -- not to mention tremendous range & youthful voice, perhaps preserved from some time of non-touring. Great tune & singing. Does Lukather ever have a bad solo (notes put where they ought to be)? Man can shred & show off or just sit back w/ some sweet melodic lines that just make you smile. Hope Paich pops in now & then (on tour). The Greatness continues! Rock on, Toto!

In fact, there is a bizarre thing on Wikipedia : Dune is credited as a Toto album (however, a music is credited to Brian Eno) and XX is released as compilation (when no music from this album was heard before in this form). By this classification, The Seventh One is not the seventh, but the eighth. Why this choice (mistake ?) ?

TOTO’s music is an indicator of quality, whatever the line up! This is a sentence of Bobby Kimball in “Falling between live in Paris”! Few times TOTO guys have had kindly words for him, Joe you did a beautiful thing with this tribute! And for the last but not the least this song is amazing, is so perfect and beautiful that could be at the top of billboard if it had been written in the present day! TOTO FOREVER!
The only Toto member who’s not liked within the band is Jean-Michel Byron… and it still holds true today. Whenever he performs some of the songs, he butchers them that it’s so hard to listen.
Fergie Frederikssen is underrated as lead vocalist and before his death, he was able to reconcile with the band and made guest appearances at a few of the band’s concerts.
