Unbelievably swag, Forrest! I remember watching your stick control and ghost notes live in San Diego and being blown away. Then, I tried to figure out what grip you were using, only to find a video of you "in a good state of mind" describing German grip as, "squashing a bug". And well, the rest is history! Phenomenal player, dude! I strive to play as articulate as you do. Bravo!
@@ForrestRice ua-cam.com/video/i-E1NOzW-fQ/v-deo.html This is a video I captured of you and Covet in San Diego. Feel free to use or not use it at your convenience. I'm sincerely a fan and study your work. Keep all those grooves coming my way, bruh! ;)
This is my favorite Covet song!❤ I hope they play it when I see them live in the Catharsis Tour. 🙏🏽 Yvette Young is a musical genius. The other members in her band have to also be insanely talented to keep up with her compositions.
Incredible. The drumming is so rich. Really feeling it. And the video is also top shelf. Very well made. Satisfying the head and heart. Technical and beautiful
my goshh your flow dude, insanee! Quick question though, did you literally play this song perfectly along to your recording? cuz I don't see no mics! aha unless you have shotguns out of frame
konstantinos kouveliotis That one’s commonly known as The Slide which is a technique many use to play a double stroke on the bass drum without having to lift your foot twice speedily. Hope this helps!
Awesome playing! I know that this is well after the video came out, but would you mind explaining the sticking pattern (or rudiment that you're using) at 6:57-6:59 to get the effect of a roll with flams between the snare and ride cymbal?
@@ForrestRice thanks Forrest! I have no idea how that managed to escape me after many years of playing. So basically, just a Swiss army triplet with a diddle on the second right?
@@EgonSpenglersTwinkie Not exactly, a swiss army triplet with an extra 16th note would he R(l)rlr. A blushda starts with a flam, and then rrl. Play the flam open a bit more than you usually would. Once you get the bounce stroke on the rr you'll be laughing. Watch Tony Williams, it was his lick.
Forrest could hit me in the face with a drumstick and I would probably thank him and say "Hey, great set!"
Cameron Ratliff lmao 😂
wish my drummer smiled this much, also lowkey grooviest covet song
Get those cymbals high or go home. Brilliant playing
Wonder if he's inspired by Simon Philips?
:)
The fluidity, the musicality of this drummer Forrest Rice is so ethereal. Damn, this dudes drumming has made me use words I've never used before.
Just discovered Covet some days ago and I gotta say they have the happiest drummer ever
We love you, Forrest!
I heard this song many times and thought Forrest was using double-bass for that one part... But of course he can do that with one foot, what a beast!

I listened to the earlier cover stuff without Forrest , honestly , his style suits this genre perfectly , better than the other drummers In my opinion
Thank you.

The roll at 5:14 is that single stroke roll, paradiddles or something else? Thanks.
Daniel Alejandro Fernandez 4x paradiddle-diddles 2x paradiddle
@@ForrestRice Hey, thank you for answering. I'm starting to learn paradiddles. I'm going to set this as a goal.
