- Play Me Cover Neil Diamond. This one is a very special upload to me. I've had several requests to upload another Neil Diamond tune, and I chose "Play Me" which is one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
To be honest, I've always been a bit reluctant to cover this song, because Neil sang it to absolute perfection. I can tell you that I poured my heart and soul into singing this one to try to convey the emotions, while at the same time putting my own personal fingerprint on it.

After all these years of listening to this song, tonight I decided to learn it off of UA-cam. After about an hour I had it down and it made me feel good to play it. Then I ran across your version and was blown away. With your playing and your voice you should be a star. Thank you for covering that tune. I will add it to my favorites!

Honestly, I was very reluctant to cover this particular song on YT, because Neil did it so perfectly and it was a daunting task to do it justice. I've performed it live many times, but it was something a bit different to put it on YT for the world to see.
The most difficult (and most important) thing to capture is the emotion, which Neil did exquisitely. I tried to climb inside this song to make sure it came across from a truly authentic place in my heart. Glad you liked it. Hope to hear your version someday too. Cheers, Shawn.
