Yes they are all amazing talents, but you are right, not all are my cup of tea. I prefer a melodic sound on acoustic guitar. Percussion and tapping are fine if incorporated into a piece where more appropriate. But then, they all blow my talent off the planet so I can't criticize their efforts. I just couldn't listen to that style all day. But give me Tommy Emmanuel, Richard Smith, Loren and Mark, and now I've heard Nick Charles.
The dynamics of this piece are a lesson in themselves. This piece presented itself as my first inspirational music as a child when I first heard it on Disney's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea". Some of you can remember that far back. Thank You! JD

It was my extreme pleasure to see Estas Tonne perform in person. His compositions don't always end when you think that they are over, and sometimes he ends a song and remains holding the guitar as if he is about to continue, so by the end of the concert, people were so confused about when to applaud that he actually had to gesture to the audience to acknowledge that the song had indeed ended. That being said, his performance was nothing short of phenomenal.
@@alexn.4355 Right. I see him as very overrated. His compositions are all the same and not very difficult to play. So they neither impress the ear nor the eye.
If you like that sort of thing, go watch the "House of the Rising Sun" cover by Luca Sestak, piano and drums. Stick with it, he really opens up somewhere after the halfway point. My favorite cover of that song. At the end the drummer uses a very cool effect on the cymbal that I've never seen, and you'll see Luca smile at the point I'm talking about with the early clapping, which your comment brought to mind. Luca understands what a long pause can do for music, and utilizes them occasionally, to great effect. It was done at one of the major jazz or blues festivals, don't remember where.
alip ba ta finger style from Indonesia is amazing, he doesn't just play the guitar but plays a musical instrument in one guitar .... and he really enjoyed it, playing as if a song was in his soul 🙏🙏

Your two compilations are very nice, but, you appear to be missing the one guitarist that was a primary influence to almost everyone on your lists: Michael Hedges!
I’m glad someone finally mentioned Michael Hedges - the predecessor of and innovator of many of these techniques. Obvious inspiration and influence (whether they know it or not) of many or most of these guitarists. And most likely the best and deepest composer of all of them. One of the saddest days of my life when he passed away in 1997. Supreme and sublime talent.
@BrianJohnson-or5hw ... ´totally agree ! This vid came out in August 2018. Five year ago, I think the name "Eiro Nareth" was known in Russia but still not known by guitar fans round the world.
Why would anyone give a thumbs down to guitar styles not to mention extreme talent and excellent ability and talent, well, unless they are jealous or deaf.
Phil Keaggy is by several magazines considered to be among the 3 best finger picking guitarist in the world. I am not saying he is among the 3 best but should probably be in this list :)
Couldn't agree more. The omission of Phil Keaggy is a crime. Much has to do with him being pigeon holed as a Christian guitarist and not taken as seriously as secular artists. It's funny since over half of his recordings are instrumental. Personally I believe he cracks the top 5 and the fact that he's missing his middle finger on his picking hand seals it.
@@kevinhannah2074 Yes It looks like many try to ignore Phil Keaggys talent because of his faith, cant see any other reason for it especially when he is not in list of best 50 or 100 but I will also say that its hard to say someone is best, because gitarists often have their own style and is good in their own way of playing, so many styles out there and technics and speed of playing that I dont think we can say one particular is better than everyone else. But I think we can say Phil is one of the best in finger style because of his great variation and flawless playing dificult stuff and his talent of creating melodic music he has over 50 records and he is also a excellent el gitarist and songwriter as well. He has been my favorite musician since 1983 just never get tired of his playing and songs. Great inspiration ! and to be able to do this with a half finger missing just makes him even better. Lets enjoy the variation of gifting many players have and appreciate them all. It all reflects God in the talents He gave men for us to enjoy.
They're all great in their respective styles and genre of playing. For me, my basis of determining the greatest guitarist is when he/she can play of all sorts of style. A master of different kinds of tecniques with innovative and more revolutionized of playing the instrument. I must say Marcin is that guy. Hes unconventional and distinctive playing is out of this world compared to other guitarist. A complete guitarist with charismatic aura. The only guy that can match his caliber is Luca stricagnoli I guess. And by the way my favorite guitarist is Tommy
Excellent stuff! Thank you. I think you'll get a few comments from tne guitar "purists" of this world. Some won't like the drumming acoustics that a lot of modern guitarists do, others who watch this will complain about it's authenticity as fingerstyle ...and so it goes on. It is still a list of excellent guitar players doing their thing. If anyone complains about this/your UA-cam video, it simply means they cannot do it as well as these players!! I am professional guitarist and I think you should do more youtube stuff like this. Please.

The technical ability on display here is ridiculous. But Tommy Emmanuel also has that certain groove and feeling and understanding of the melody of a song which sets him apart.
If Alip Ba Ta was in the recording studio, maybe he would be on this list. but unfortunately he only uses an ordinary guitar with a tone amplifier plus his extraordinary abilities. and even then, many are amazed by his playing ability 🙂
I'm with you John, though not for the reason you might think. What set Marcin apart from all the other guys is his understanding of musical theory. He has such a deep grasp of it that he is able to rearrange music in ways that simply blow the minds of those who really know music. Wkakskakkwka..., setiap orang punya penilaian sendiri bang.. Saya juga sering nonton video bang alip.., dan semua fingerstyle juga.., dan semuanya best dngan ciri khas masing"
Kampungan+alay+Taik=kurdi
ali baba is nothing,,, he is not international level... he should become a street musician,,
Well that was great. Probably..all of it LIVE. This is So fascinating to learn some highly skilled virtuoso player's names which I hadn't heard of before... Anyway, I Love this Bluegrass finger-picking style of music, and how tradition is being maintained by performers like Billy Strings to name but one. Cheers from U.K. LOVE IT.
WoW. Thank you for that heavenly journey.
Alexander: Misko Genius
Antoine Defour: Makes it look easy
Luca Stricagnoli: legend on multiple instruments
See Alip Ba Ta from Indonesia
Wow! Some incredible guitarist here whom I’ve never heard of!
I wil vouch for Alip_Ba_ta from indonesia.. very low end set up but the output is beyond quality
How about aing lee ??
@Marko oOo if sung ha jung with river flow is in the list, you might check alif video on same played song before you said alif is good but not bet enough
They need to update Marcin’s that was from when he was younger he is much much better now
Nice collection of some intriguing guitar pickers. If you did not include Tommy Emmanuel, you would have been in some serious hot water! : )
TY for sharing such wonderful acoustic guitar players throughout the world. There are still many fantastic no name players that are not shown here.
Alip-ba-ta from Indonesia 👍😊
All great players, But Chet Atkins is a must for this list, seeing as he was doing it in the 1930's! Actually, Tommy Emmanuel was influenced by him alone! Cheers!
Amazing Talent from those guitarists, I am just starting out my guitar journey, literally weeks ago...
But I am loving learning guitar now ❤
Alexander misko 👍
Wow. What a great compilitation
Lots of amazing guitarists here, but nobody, nobody compares with Richard Smith!! I think any of these guitarists would agree if they’re honest.😮
If you are looking for our great Sungha Jung, well, he is in
8: 16 . He played "Riverflows in you". Thanks me later!💓
Thank you for putting this on UA-cam. Very nice!

Awesome! Lots of Canadians plus my fried Igor. My favorite is a tie between Justin King & the Polish -both new to me..so thanks.
One againt in best guitar in indonesia ali ba ta chanel
The best part of guitar play 👉 it's the crazy you play u feel the better play🥰.
Tommy ... possibly the best acoustics guitarist in the world. _I don't think the one in this clip shows what he can really do, it only hints at it ... he's in another league and has been for decades!_
There's a video of Tommy Emmanuel and Billy Strings jamming together. Phenomenal.

@@marekgieniec3253 Yes, he's pretty good. Thanks.
Kent Nishimura will be included here someday.
Indeed he should be.
Kent is outstanding and any list of great fingerstyle guitarist without him on it is incomplete.
someday? He is already better than if not all on this list!
@@Marco-bh9im I totally agree.
Luca, Marcin, Alex....Check....I'm satisfied
I didn't know the rest before, but they are all great...
Canada is in the place ;)
