My girlfriend does EMDR with her therapist virtually and loves it!! Also thank you for this video! I'm 100% planning on working remotely after grad school for my Masters in CMHC (leading to LCPC).
I'm so glad you made this video. Your previous videos had inspired me to move to online private practice as a side gig to my regular job in academia (planning to do so in 2025). Right now, I am gathering info, increasing my competency with the tech, jurisdictional/ethical aspects, etc., so your info is really useful and timely.
Love the video! If I work for an agency, how likely is it that I'll have enough control to work any day of the week (even weekends) except Monday and Friday? I'll be starting my grad program in the next couple of months and will hopefully be practicing as a counselor no later than two years. Our plan is for my wife to go part time at her company so we can stay on her benefits and insurance but her part-time is only offered as working Monday and Friday and will need someone to watch our daughter while we're both working. Just wondering, how likely it would be that I can have off Monday, Fridays and maybe some Saturdays as they do sometimes work those two.
Hmm I would think that would be rare to find, but something like a 24/7 crisis center might have that flexibility or even a hospital type of setting since those run constantly.
@@allyssapowers Well that's a tad disheartening. I was planning on working for an agency at first just to get hang of it then start a private practice but now I'm more motivated to just do private. Did you go private pretty quick? Thanks for the help by the way and am always will to pay a fee for more detailed help/advising!
@@allyssapowers it's totally fine if you're not able to do that. I just know I have a LOT to learn and some of my questions might be time consuming but any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi Alyssa! I just found your channel and would like your advice. I’m looking to pivot my career from marketing to become a remote therapist (ideally my own practice). I just had a baby a month ago and would like to be a stay at home mom while I grow my business. I still have yet to pursue my graduates degree (currently completely my application). My question is after graduating, is it a must for me to get my hours in an office setting? Or is it possible for me to get my hours in a remote setting as I head towards getting my license? Thinking about my options right now on if I should pursue while my child gets older and attends school or if I can figure out how to make it work while she’s still a baby. Thank you!
Hi! I love this question as a fellow mama. Online hours count in the same way...I believe the stipulation is that it has to be direct client care and involve a diagnosis. You would need to pay for supervision...thats the downside to not working at a group practice at first, but plenty of people do it.
Your channel is helping me realize what all I need to do! Thank u

but can’t you be accepting insurance even in private practice?
Yes if you want to!
