I have been wondering the same thing because few of my ex still contacted me in evening if they married {Virgo/Aries}

Some Scorpios I know are afraid of death of their ego, they cling to it like it's all they have but they don't see their great powerful healing spirit as a phoenix, it's a leap of faith in themselves and the universe and if as you say their imprint is through their ego then it's understandable that some relationships become a wild ride of self medication and running from themselves. Even a lone wolf can be subjected to this painful loop.
How can the cycle be broken as it's something only they themselves can do, I think. Is there any motivation for them? Is it a question of patience. I'm Pisces Western astrology, Snake Chinese Astrology and Wolf Frog clan Native American.
One Scorpio I speak of has 11.22 birthday so power house of healing energy and combustible energy which appears to be challenging for him to emotionally reclaim his power as many scorned women have cursed him both power of word and binding sex spells and other magic.
He is in a battle of light and darkness, I have seen it and as his auspicious birthday suggests has a powerful mission should he chose to step into his authentic power.
Is this a case of part of the healing process or lots of jealousy and spiteful people projecting and externalising their pain and inner child wounds and dark energy trying to prevent him from his God given destiny.

You do you, Live by example is all you can do. You are moon sign, water, and he is too.
You can be soft and move with him. If his waters go to cold, deep, wild, retreat in your own moon. You will feel this intuitively, take time alone to dream, think about where you can stand more in your own power. Soft, "passive", feminine. Protect your sensitivity, which is your power. Healthy people know and communicate their boundaries exacltly to protect their own heart, sensitivity, soul. They don't need ego for that.
