How are the moose making out?? I'm from Canada. Born in Pitlochry. There's no reason why the moose should not survive in northern Scotland. One only has to look at how well they have done in Newfoundland, Canada after being introduced to that island. They are now everywhere. If moose were a natural part of Scotland at one time then they SHOULD be re-introduced. Good luck with the project. Reintroduction of extripated species is always a controversial subject. I hope they come back, with Bison returning to England they’ll no doubt be taken to the Scottish Highlands later on once they see how good they are for the environment, if Bison can come back Elk should too
daniel 12345 Wolverine were native to the British Isles around 8,000 years ago, and went extinct around the same time that reindeer did. A species which has been successfully reintroduced.
Its the same argument with the Tasmanian tiger and whether we should clone it but the thing is people saying were playing god are ignorant as we did that by exterminating them. We by bringing these creatures back or cloning them etc is just being the smart human.
isnt the red squirrel/grey squirrel about introducing a non-native species? the moose was once native and was extirpated--it is not a foreign, non-native species. where i live in New England, USA, moose and deer co-exist and have done so for millenia. (different niches-not competative)
Why the hell did it cost "millions" to bring over two moose? I mean, you've got the cost of the fence to think about, and the "red tape" they refer to is probably due to the proposed integration of what is now a foreign species to Scotland. They'd want to know how they'd affect the current environment / landscape. But other than that? We have moose here in Canada. They are fucking deeeee-licious. The Scottish obviously think so, since they ate all of theirs up 2,000 years ago!
The vaseline may soon be in short supply wot with that there credit crunch going on. I suggest more sandals and tent pegs to keep the midgies at bay. Fear not the bailiffs, for they seek only the portained ones.
What a brlliant idea, I love it with a passion! Good on ya, mate!

Ajax Telamonian Exactly. We played God by extirpating these creatures. Bringing them back is just fixing our mistake.
Wonder what has happened since?
At some point, of course, they'll have to reintroduce wolves to keep things under control.
Yes! Let’s hope it happens.
Just make sure not to crash into any, they're big animals ;)

@Mishomisguitar yes, and they are thriving so much that they are overrunning nfld. Which is great for everyone wanting to eat organic meat.
Arthur will come again! Arthur is Celtic for bear. How can Wales or Scotland be whole without Arthur?
Not just any lynx a Scottish Lynx
What is "the debate?" Why the hell wouldn't you do this? And who in his or her right mind would oppose it?
It didn't work out unfortunately, need to allow more tree regrowth

They are big animals, they can be dangerous and reintroducing costs alot of money

Like Wales.
Your ferret obsession is indicative of a greater fear; the fear of slippers. Recognize.
Do not be cagey, for time is short. How shall the others be dealt with?
That shall teach him. Should Pat Butcher and her rave coat also be involved in this retribution?
O good, more food. Moose hunting in the UK.Bring it on.
Do you think that action should be taken against those, such as Ian Beale, who flout these rules?

The are coming to section you. Flee by night and only return when they have been destroyed with the light of the emerald jewel
This is most suspicious; Have you been consulting with the great unwashed?
