The first word I would give is "thinking critically".
The second word is "the right way".

Here are two strong-willed and intelligent students bravely expressing their views in front of the whole nation despite clearly being nervous. Kudos to you both👏🥳Future hope of our country💫

“The first is the PAP’s out-dated practice of stigmatising failure. This is unfortunate. I want to tell my fellow Singaporeans, especially students, that we must not be afraid to fail. It is from our failures that we learn and become better persons and go on to achieve great things.
The second has to do with PAP’s habit of engaging in the politics of name-calling and personal destruction. It is disappointing that the younger generation of ministers like Mr Chan has not set a new direction for the conduct of politics in Singapore instead on relying on that of a bygone era.”

How can Singaporeans be convinced, then, that our politicians are listening to their concerns? Here we are, offering valid criticisms to loopholes, even potential pitfalls in Acts already passed in Parliament, and the response has been “we are still good to go, we’ll think about it and let you know”?
Clearly, hearing is not the same as listening, and the PAP is deluded if it thinks it is doing citizens right.
All we see is a very well-oiled corporate communications operation, which sadly leaves very little room for attending to the specific needs of citizens. And for that, we have failed as a system that has been prattling on about consultation and conversations - including one done on a massive national scale to which a follow-up platform is still lacking.
At this time more than any, the PAP needs to convince the people that what it has been doing has been a direct response to ground sentiments. The evidence, however, suggests otherwise. It suggests a government machine that is still too willing to proceed as planned, and consultation would be done only at a time it is comfortably with - usually when the deed has already been done.

Emphasising on “holistic performance beyond grades” sounds like a farce to me as a fresh grad. Grades matter, Ironically especially in the government. Your salary in the civil service is directly pegged to your level of honours, and you can forget about scholarships without stellar grades. Going even further than that, scholarships determine your career path in the civil service because scholars are afforded better opportunities, and an accelerated career path. How is this even consistent with MOE’s policies?

But Minister Chan Chun Sing goes for broke - no need to worry, there are 3.5 million jobs for 2.5 million Singaporeans!
Surely they cannot all be right.

Those with high integrity and capability become leaders while those without become hopeless whiners and crybabies. 👍👍

Chan Chun Sing who said Singaporeans need not worry because the country will not run out of jobs, there are more jobs than workers.
He cited the astounding figure of 3.5 million jobs available in this country for the 2.5 million working population.
The two are distinctly different - one acknowledged the gloomy picture and even cried about it, the other was full of bluster and bravado and waved away all worries.
