59:34 fun fact about that one. RPG doesn't actually stand for rocket propelled grenade. It actually stands for "Ruchnoĭ protivotankovyĭ granatomet" which is russian for "Handheld Antitank Grenade Launcher"
my dude, this video is in perfect timing. I just saw this game recommended to me on Steam and was curious but not enough to look at it. After seeing this, it's definitely going on the wishlist
Awesome! Exquisite! Inspiring! And by that I mean, the game as well as the video you've made covering it. I find your style to be both informative AND entertaining 15:26 is a really good point with these retro FPS! The Doom and Quake references are always a thrill to see, for sure. And poking fun at know-it-alls like at 47:50 never gets old, hehe!
There are enough Doomlikes to drown a whale, so it’s nice to see something more aesthetically similar to quake. Really interesting game, wonder what’ll be added in the future
On owning all the Serious Sam titles, it's fine. Somehow every person who ever played an old school fps on Steam owns every single Serious Sam title. Nobody knows how they got there or why. All they know is everyone somehow owns them, and we all accept this strange curse.
I'll tell you why Serious Sam games are always on massive sales Even SS4(A game that released 2 years ago) is now on sale for arround 10 euro Serious Sam classic titles(aka revolution because you get both classic games along with the revolution executable) is like 2 euro
@@pura8898 That is a logical explanation, but I prefer the idea that it is somehow an unknown curse that somehow afflicts all who play FPS games. As is with so many other games that appear on Steam, we get them on sale at a stupid discount and then, 6 years later, look at our collections and think "when did I buy this?"
31:30 I mean... theoretically you could use the cluster bomb upgrade to increase the damage and _maybe_ you could one loop him... but by the end of the fight no matter what you'll be out of ammo...
You should watch out with that meme of Kratos falling, many creators I've seen are getting demonetized because of it, the UA-cam algorithim sees it as "depicting self harm"
(Sorry for my bad English) Until now this year has being a mixture of death, indecisions with my fate and good games...thank you to showing this game for me Mr Trav
I have one more playthrough of Dead Space Remake and then I get to fully invest in Dread Templar. I love the fact that runes change weapons and that super secrets are mostly major power rewards. I love the Black Bow and Inferno Revolver. When I played before release the revolver was way too powerful and that rapid accuracy playstyle calls to me. You did a nice long review, thanks.
Talking about that Left Handed Gauntlet, I'd say if its that fun of an idea, they should have a Rune that can get you as close as possible to that playstyle again. It sounds neat as hell
We have been blueballed what could've been a fine medieval history tangent about the saga of Philip IV committing tax evasion, and how mistranslated French turned what most likely started as an accusation (made up for the purpose of tax evasion, mind) that the Templars had effectively "gone native" into the origin of the name "Baphomet"
that graveyard carnival super secret is almost a Carnevil reference, is a shame the developers didnt knew about Carnevil and just took stuff from there and the carnival level from blood.
You should check out chop Goblins, it's also made by David Szymanski and lesser known than things like his other game Dusk, but it has a nonsensical story and I think you'd enjoy it
16:00 Yeah, and thereby "helping" the developers make a different, "better" game. (Devs listening to game testers and fans _too_ much, has had some serious negative impacts in the past) Maybe suggest things you think can elevate the game it was *trying* to be, because sometimes a little constructive criticism is warranted. And in the right dose, at the right time, it can make _ALL_ the difference in the world!
Once you have both eyeballs in that one super secret I believe the rune opens up? Idk I can’t quite remember, I was just messing around on that level so long, looking for the alternate route that it’s a lil hazy on me
I played the game recently, I think it's become one of my favorites, but unfortunately, the bug that doesn't let you delete your progress from ungrades is still present. It's a pain.
Pls try out Ashes 2063 and Ashes Afterglow. They are free gzdoom total conversion mods in a post apocalyptic setting with heavy 80's action movie vibes and resource management. You wont regret playing them.
"To justify the terrible shit Christianity did." This implies the entire Catholic Church is a monolith. *cough cough anyone that knows Church history knows they aren't except for infallible moral law natural law dogma and doctrine cough cough* Some of the saints were disgusted by the actions of the crusaders despite believing the crusades were in fact a just war. Despite st.bernard preaching for the crusades but had called out the sin of the crusaders and the pope was incredibly disgusted by the 4th crusade he excommunicated them. So just like with anything else in history we should never forget nuance and just like any other war any atrocity are always bound to happen like for example there are already atrocities committed by the Ukrainians and the russians despite the war the ukrinians are fighting for are just. (This depends on the crusades some were just due to the fact they were a reaction to Islamic aggression which were happening for centuries prior. and even some muslims like ibn jubyr despite his hatred of the crusades admit their court system were just and some others were not like the infamous 4th crusade which had gone horrifically wrong to which the Church to this day apologizes.) As for the templars.... That is also complicated considering the relations withFrance and of course with pope clement the 5th. Anyway I came here to watch a game review not hear what a person has to say on Church history.
Christianity is the culturally acceptable religious punching bag, sadly. People are free to mock and criticise it with very little comeback compared to any other religion.
I don't think we need to worry about Primeval, he's been composing for PWADs for a while, and he's got a . b i g . backlog, so go buy all of it... because it goooood.
Still on the fence about getting this. Standards for "modern retro FPS'' are high after the almighty DUSK..... Currently playing Unreal 1 (yes, Unreal from 1998) and having a great ol' time. More focused on the exploration and adventure, but still some shooting to be done.
Is there a top down mobile version of a game similar to this? Currently playing DarkSurvival and enjoying it. It also has some synergy to the way you can upgrade weapons to make "epic" combo versions of two weapons. But I really liked the synergic gunplay and upgrade mechanics in this game.
I do think that you should primarily focus on what a game is trying to achieve and it's execution towards what the game sets out to do rather than overly compare to other games. That's not to say apologies or comparisons are a bad thing, but I do feel like, "I think A should be more like B" and undermining this sense of.... individuality in terms of mechanics and gameplay that dev's are going for is one step too far in the negative corner. I admire you thoughts on this and I don't think your integrity is compromised just for you trying to be honest and more open minded, hell if anything that makes you a more valid reviewer in my eyes :3
You didn't pay attention to a lick of what I said if that's what you think; the 1.0.1n5 update made the boss way easier, but sure, enjoy the little bit of validation you feel from thinking the boss was always easy.
@@ThatTravGuy yeah except i played the game like 1 year ago and beat it twice.
