This saved me so much during hurricane Helene. I was able to buy this generator from lowes. After waiting in line for 5 hours and not knowing if their was enough for me to get one.I got it home and it worked great for 7 hours before it started turning off and I couldn't keep it running. That's when I came across your video. Thanks for the help. It was a life saver.
That's what position thanks so much for the detailed simple explanation. Solve me the problem. Generac makes a good product. But whoever sells these generators online should stop or fix the issue....
Little white box on pc board came loose just like this one in the vid. Pulled connector off pc board, removed the 2 black wires, taped them together, and connected the others back to the board. Works great now. Yellow light does blink constantly…but my generator runs, and I have electricity! Thanks a million!!! Those 2 screws under the sticker were a PITA. 😂
Thanks for a great vid! Just followed your instructions for my GP 9200E. I peeled the sticker off without cutting and it was still sticky enough to reapply.
Thank you this video helped, have a new gp9200E with 5.5 hrs, i only run non ethanol fuel but still checked the carb it was spotless, this video is exactly what mine was doing, just did the bypass it runs perfectly again.
T25 nuts torx nuts will remove. Good fix, smart to remove only part of sticker. Test output of gen prior to this hack, rotor stator problems will shut down gen in 10 seconds also. Sometimes a field flash is all they need.
Yea, I've been hearing that Generac isn't covering certain equipment, depending where it's purchased. Just what I've heard, not my experience. Glad this helped.
Yes, that's right. Before I fixed my new GP9200E myself I called Generac to find out where I could get it fixed under warranty. Out of four shops they recommended two wouldn't work on Generac ( one was an ex Generac dealer) another would work on it for $80 an hour and the last are well known hacks in Woodstock Ct. that I refuse to patronize. Wish I bought something else.
Hard to make a recommendation without a budget in mind. If I was buying one, I probably buy a higher end predator generator from Harbor Freight. With that said, I don't have experience with them because I don't see them in the shop... which is a good sign. Good luck.
Followed your steps and it works. Had to use a drill in reverse to get it to make power. Now once the generator is shut off and I restart it there is no power. I have to use the drill again. Any thoughts? Thanks
Great video, that feature should be called Co Nonsense. Have you ever dealt with CGFI issues. My Generac GP8000E has a problem with one 120v receptacle. The CGFI will jump within a few seconds of turning it on, nothing connected to the generator. The other 120v receptacle works fine and the 240 work fine. Any ideas?
Thanks for the reply, I will have to see how hard it is to take that front panel off and change that receptacle out. I was hoping to find a instructional video on that. Thanks again for your great videos.
@tntphillipians4134 that's probably a different issue. Spray gas in the intake and try to start it. If it starts up for a couple seconds, you have a fuel/carburetor issue.
That CO sense garbage is dumb. I'm not running my damn generator in my house lol. I had it under a carport during hurricane Francine last night and it kept cutting out. I had to put it in my backyard where the wind was whipping through to get the damn thing to run.
I called Westinghouse and so far they have not had any calls as to this defect. I told them to expect some because people are still recovering from the hurricane. I also ordered a spare. I plan to take it apart and see if the resistors and capacitors are loose and perhaps add some boot glue to strengthen the unit. Just experimenting. Finally, I figured that this must be caused by vibration so before I even run the generator, I unfastened it from the frame and I’m going to suspend it horizontally from either some string or rubber bands. Perhaps if you isolate the vibration and keep it horizontal, it might mitigate against this defect. Just a thought. I haven’t proven it yet but that’s my plan. Thanks for your video and for your reply. 👍🏻

My GP6500 co sense board was fried
Unplugged it the generator runs, gonna bypass it tomorrow
Great info thanks!

Great. If I ever see another one of these I will try that.
I knew Cosense would be a problem. I bought my Generac 8000 2 years ago and got one without Cosense.
Thank you this video helped, have a new gp9200E with 5.5 hrs, i only run non ethanol fuel but still checked the carb it was spotless, this video is exactly what mine was doing, just did the bypass it runs perfectly again.
Awesome! Great job!
Thank You very much 😊
Good job sir.

The Generac Old models never have this problem. The NEW models with COSence is A Possible cause. That's Why I avoided Generac now
The HF gen are having the same problem with sensor,c02 one bad
Going to bypass them on all the units I can
Stupid dam epa
No one will warranty them
Crazy crap they make now 😊

What size is the screw that holds the co2 sensor to the front panel?
What do you recommend for a portable back generator for the house . What brand is good.

Should have been a recall!!! My almost new one did the same thing….
Followed your steps and it works. Had to use a drill in reverse to get it to make power. Now once the generator is shut off and I restart it there is no power. I have to use the drill again. Any thoughts? Thanks
That's a tough one. Check the rotor brushes. They should be clean and bright brass color.

I would try replacing the GFCI outlet. Start with the cheapest part first.

Was having the same issue. Tried the bypass, but now I have no ac power. Does the red wire need to be plugged into that co sense ??
I am not 100% sure. I did not test the output while I had it unplugged. I would try plugging the cosence back in.
But you never addressed if you can still use the starter, after doing the jumper ordeal?
Yes the starter will still work with this jumped.
What about the unit not even starting at all. Can that be the problem?
@tntphillipians4134 that's probably a different issue. Spray gas in the intake and try to start it. If it starts up for a couple seconds, you have a fuel/carburetor issue.

Could you have just cut the green/yellow wire ? It’s the same as disabling the low oil cut off. I am told that works but never tried it.
Honestly, not sure. The research I did was this method so thats what I stuck with.

👍🏻
I did what you did and now generator not making power
Check all of your connections
😂😂😂
If you have this system go ahead and bypass it now, because it will fail
I’m having an issue with my duromax co sensor. It shuts down in open air in 4 minutes. Grrr
Bummer. Hope you can figure it out.
