I almost returned, Starts within 20 sec. shut-off after seeing your videos I did the same thing Paypass and it works no more shutting off. They need to update that sensor for the Carbon monoxide. Thank you.
Just did this sensor bypass. Worked perfectly. Couple of adjustments - No need for the special T-25 bit tool. Just simply remove the two 8mm hex bolts that holds the bracket in place. The sensor is attached to the bracket. The two unused wires - Gray & Brown can be covered with heat shrink tubing and pinched closed on the ends. Besides the access cover having to come off. The Red side panel frame must be pulled off as well. Remove the 6 allen head bolts on the side frame and the 2 allen bolts on the front to allow it to come off. The front panel is held in place by 6 philip screws. The Propane/Gas selector knob has a deep philip screw that must be removed to pull the front panel. I soldered the wires together for a more durable connection.
The CO shutoff system is a critical safety feature which can help to prevent the risk of sudden illness and death resulting from the accumulation of undetected CO, which is an odorless, colorless gas impossible for the human senses to detect. The health and safety of our customers remains our top priority and we recommend discontinuing any use of this product without a functioning CO shutoff system.
@@harborfreight Nice lawyers speak 🙄 As I mentioned... This is for an install on a work truck, in a confined box. The unit is on rails, to be pulled in and out of storage. The CO sensor wouldn't allow it to be run, because the exhaust was being deflected from the storage box, back out, directly into the sensor. It ran for maybe 30 seconds. I installed a 6" fan, at the base of the storage box, to evacuate any accumulated gases. The "CO SENSOR" with no disable, assumes everyone's a moron. I made it clear, this is for a unique circumstance. What the unit needs, is a resetting switch, to disable the CO sensor.
I use HVAC aluminum tape to cover the holes in the sensor on this gen, and also the 1400 watt works without all the wire mods. You must use the aluminum HVAC tape........On the 5000 watt all you have to do is remove the two 8mm bolts and cover the hole in the sensor. mind doesnt shut down any more for CO. 8 min. mod
I need a bit more advice. I've wired the four pin to the two pin. I see the remaining two wires are looped back to the four pin connector. Is there more i should know about this? Should the four pin remain disconnected from the generator? I've tried several combinations to no avail. Any ideas on what im missing?
I wonder what would happen if you just put a piece of tape over the carbon monoxide sensor if that would accomplish the same thing without cutting and re wiring? If the tape fails, I'll try this 😉💪
@@mikebolton3816 It must test for oxygen as well as CO2, if it doesn't see oxygen it shuts down. Just guessing I tried stuffing a asbestos type material in front of the sensor without taking the Allen screws out and pulling off the side. Nope.. didn't work. Looks like I'll have to try to duplicate your method. I wish your video was more detailed. Where did you get the connector, exactly which wires to rewire, close up. Like that. Your video is the only video for a 5000. Thanks for you help, it's very appreciated 👍

The CO2 censor did shut the machine down once. so.. taping over the censor has not solved the problem 100%, but I would have to say it has vastly improved. 👍😉 I'll update as time moves on. The Censor is completely covered, how 😳 can it still detect CO2? 😮 It did once, so far

Awesome. I got fix my issue. And I need to find the heat out from my wood generator box.
I used a 6" through wall fan that's 120v and plug it right into the generator. I have it sending the air down and out of my box.
Can you make the wiring more clear not sure what the gray and brown loops are doing.

The two wire he looped are just terminated. And yes, plug the 4 pin back in.
Just did the bypass. Still runs 30sec and shuts off??? Any other thing to do?

Can you tell us what the brown and gray loops are doing?
They are just dead heads, I looped them back, just in case I have to reinstall the sensor if I have to warranty the generator.
