I believe that anyone who is not mechanically gifted like myself can repair almost anything with the right kind of guidance and instruction. Your video was just what I needed to do the job... great commentary and excellent visuals. Thank you for sharing your skills.... looking forward to some of your other videos.
This was great. Even though I had a slightly different model, your explanation was so clear that I was able to get through it with a minimum of fuss. Was a big victory too because it has been very hard to find anyone available to service the device. Thank you!
Great video. Camera work was spot on. The clarity was amazing. Loved that steel wool tip for the seat. 😊
Thanks for watching!
You absolutely saved the day with this video! I can’t thank you enough, I purchased a 28” intellipower last year, used it twice, tossed in some sta-bil and forgot about it until I pulled it out to change the oil this fall and it wouldn’t start. I debated taking to a pro but you gave me the confidence to take it on myself. Thanks for taking the time to put out a comprehensive step by step how to video.
Great work! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this! I had never done this but followed your steps and no kidding it runs better then the day I got it from the store. I did have a very tough clog in the black plastic screw jet but soaked it and then used a pin to finally clear it. Great job!
Needle jet was the culprit for me. Excellent video. Very well done.
Saved the day with a 6” snowstorm hitting tonight. Thank you!
Good luck to you! Thanks for watching!
So thank you for this video. Back in the fall I tried to get my Cub to start and it just turned and turned. Pretty new machine, but the tri-state winters have been so mild that the carb clogged from lack of use and my lack of maintenance. Never cleaned a small carb before but watched this video and cleaned it and it started and today after a real storm it operated as it should. The trouble that was saved with getting it up into the truck and the cost and the picking up again. No one else in the house cares, but small victories like this are a happy occasion! Thanks.
Great to hear! Good work!
Thank you just got two genny's going running great
What a great video, thanks for quick and detailed steps, I did mine and it starts and run smooth, great video
Very welcome! Thanks for watching.
I really like your video because it was short, Is direct, To the point, And you explain the important details. I am surprised that the pilot jet was not clean sufficiently the first time. Thanks again and great job!👍
Thank you! This is my exact model. Similar to others comments. mild CT winters , new blower , only used once last March, drained tank in the spring. still managed to clog. I did see some saw dust in the carb bowl, its stored right next to my table saw. Have to get back to following the fueling instructions my dad taught me when I was 10. wipe around cap area before filling! Runs now, a little rough, have to adjust carb in warmer weather. Will get the job done if I need it before spring. Thanks again and may God bless you!
Great work. Glad it worked. Thanks for watching.
Hands down the best step by step video I've watched on removing and cleaning a carburetor. The best part is I have this same snow blower and you saved me a lot of time and money. Thank you so much
Glad it helped
You definitely are AWESOME!! I was hesitant about attempting this, but you had detailed instructions that made it so easy. Thank you.
Thank you for making this video. You explained each step thoroughly and depicted the cleaning of each component. I was able to clean my Cub Cadet carburetor exactly as you had shown and now it runs just fine.
Great to hear!
Thank you! It worked! Followed everything you said to a T and the Cub Cadet started right up. Lesson learned to drain out the fuel tank at the end of the season and to use stabilizer during the season.
Excellent video. Great work. Good narration and video quality.
Thank you for watching.
Thank you. Excellent video, following your steps, my snowblower is now running perfectly. Same model as in your video. About two hours total on the machine, several carburetor parts slightly fouled. Cleaned them all. Now back in business. Thank you again!
Great video, had the exact problem and watching this made it so much easier. Fired right up following your steps. Thank you so much, 7-8in heading into Chicago in 2 days. I’m ready thanks to you.
I’m about to do the exact same.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
As soon as you told me the primer wasn’t working right made me realize exactly what the issue with mine is, pretty much the exact same issue, brand new blower I bought two winters ago and used like 2 times, same model too, hopefully this sorts it
It worked, started first pull!
Awesome video, very helpful, it's the Coles notes version. Thank you.
I have the tracked version of this cub cadet, few differences but this video was awesome in helping me get this done last night before a big snow storm. Thanks for the effort to create and the detail! +1 Followers.
Big difference is no matter what I did with a flathead, couldn’t get the jet out. So I just shot a crap ton of carb cleaner up through it and it finally cleared.
Yea that happens from time to time. Small wire and carb cleaner is your friend when that happens. Great work! Thanks for watching!
Very good video! 👍 thanks!
Great video! Exactly what I needed.
Great video, Thank you for sharing.
I got brand new cub cadet with the 272cc. First start I heard it surge a couple of times. I have not had it out as no snow to use it on(pretty good winter so far).
Thank you bro, this video is really helpful and to the point.
Excellent work
This was fate I had this exact problem on mine. Thanks!
Very welcome. I'm glad it helped. Thanks for watching.
Thanks. After watching this and cleaning my carb, blower starts right up
Great to hear!
Thanks, this video was extremely helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
😇Great Video... Very detailed steps and tips. Many Thanks!!!! My 3 Stage Cub Cadet won't start. But because of your video, I know for sure I can fix it. Awesome video. THANK YOU!!!
Good luck!
Excellent Video. I have one just like it 3 years old.
Thanks for watching!
Merci infiniment, ça m'as éviter une vite au réparateur.
thanks it worked for me
You're welcome!
I didn’t even know what a carburetor was-I’m a woman, what can I say? Anyway, I followed your video, and the snowblower started on the first try! Thank you so much for your very clear video! 0:02
I love this!!! Thank you for the kind words!
Thanks I know this beyond my skill and trouble level. I now know I gotta drop my machine off to the professional set up to make it happen
No shame in that!
Thanks. I'll give it a try on my next day off. :)
You got it. Good luck.
It worked! Thanks so much!
@@thesmallenginerepairguyThis was a great help. Thanks for the tutorial.
I had pretty much decided the failure to start was due to a dirty carb after storing my 2022 2X blower for just a few months over the summer. Guess when they say drain the gas tank they mean it. I was a bit daunted by 2 other DIY videos I watched re. carb cleaning, but yours is so complete and so clear, I decided to give it a shot. Already ordered all the suggested tools from Amazon. Thanks much.
Good luck to you!
"Yesterday I could barely spell 'small engine mechanic'. Now I are one". lol Started in Wednesday at 7:30am and by 8:50am the blower was reassembled and running. I completed clearing my driveway as a test, with no problems. I'm sure an hour an 20 minutes isn't going to to beak any records. But it's my best to date. 🙂@@thesmallenginerepairguy
BTW, those 2 spring controls you remove atop the carb have been replaced in my 2022 Cub Cadet (31AM5HVSB10) by a small, round electronic module. I believe that may be part of the Intellipower feature. At any rate, it's held on by 2 Phillips head screws and easily removed and left dangling out of the way. For ease, I preferred that to those 2 spring attachments shown in your video. For your future reference.
@@bobh9453 now you can fix just about every small engine! Awesome job!
@@bobh9453 Noted. That is the engine speed control. I haven't worked on one with the intellipower yet.
I just bought a brand new snow blower. Since I have read a lot of reviews with carburetors problems plugging up can you give me suggestion on how to prevent the problem. Any gas additives that I should use before I run it for the first time. Big blizzard coming to West Branch, MI today.
I will be putting out a video soon to answer this. Stay tuned!!
Great video. I’ve added stabilizer to my fuel. Still can’t run full throttle. Thing fuel line could be clogged?
I doubt it's will be a fuel line issue. Pull the carb and give it a good cleaning. You can always check the fuel flow with the carb off.
Great video, many thanks! Could you add an in-line 1/4" fuel filter to avoid this?
This is mostly caused by fuel/ethanol gelling up in the carburetor from sitting too long.
Man, I did all of this and now I believe I stripped the fuel bowl screw!
That is a bummer.
OK. So I know how to fix this issue thanks to your excellent video. Thanks a bunch for taking the time to create this masterpiece. How do I prevent this from happening next year? I didn't drain the fuel tank at the end of last year. Is that what the cause of my issue?
Here is my website with tips: sites.google.com/view/thesmallenginerepairguy/tips
i end up cleaning it every season for best performance but, i just run it once a month for 10 mins in off season, pour out old fuel mix in new fuel in a seperate gas can and she doesnt get nearly as clogged... after cleanin carb 5 times you get pretty fast at it.. 15 mins job EZ
Hello. Do you have a part number for that carb? I’m looking for a rebuild kit or a replacement carb but Cub Cadets website is useless
can buy a cheap amazon one. I hav had good luck with them
when i push the primer gas comes out of the carb what do you think the problem is thanks
Where is the fuel coming out? The only place it should be coming out is the main jet which is depicted in the video.
Great! Mine was all clogged too.
Is there a good place to get CubCadet parts?
Google the model number of the machine, there are plenty of part companies out there on the web to help you identify the part you are looking for.
@@thesmallenginerepairguy I’ll do that. Thanks
how did you repair the gasket? will it be adequate?
Great question. Super Glue! I super glued the ends of the bowl o-ring together. Once it dried, it was like new. No leaking.
I think I have the same problem, just after 2 winters. How can I avoid this problem on the future? I put stabilizer in the gas and run the snowblower for about 10 minutes before storing for the summer. Also can you put some links for the tools that you used? Do you think anyone can clean the carburetor, I don’t have skills for small engines, but I’m pretty handy. Looks easy on video 😁. Great video! Tks.
I plan on making a video on how to store your equipment. I will work on a tool list. Thanks for the tips! Keep them coming!
I have been using 91 gas that has no ethanol on the snowblower also I added marvel mystery oil into both engine and gas tank per directions. Never have any issue for 4-5 seasons now.
Yes but what caused the primer bulb to not operate as it should???? Why was it just blowing air instead of pumping fuel???? Thank you
The reason the primer was only blowing air was because the main jet was clogged and air was being pushed out the bowl vent.
Cleaned eveything in the video my set up is slightly different .. Still wouldnt start primer doesnt cause the jet to spray like it should.. Im thinking there is sediment in the tank
Pull the just the fuel bowl off. Is there sediment in the bowl? Also make sure the primer air line is not cracked. Lastly make sure the main jet is clean and clear
I cleaned the carburetor, but my snowblower will not.atay running unless I keep pushing the primer bulb. Any ideas?
Recheck your work. Make sure that main jet is clear of obstructions. Do the same for the pilot jet. Lastly make sure your gaskets are installed the correct way, even the one behind the carburetor.
Is there no fuel filter/strainer?
Technically, there is a strainer at the gas tank. Depending on the model, there could be a strainer at the gas cap, at the fuel tank outlet, or both.
Thanks. Looking at my Cub Cadet 2X28 using a flashlight, you can just see a strainer inside the tank by the outlet.
Good video.I do not see nor did I hear you mention the gaskets. If I missed it I apologize.
I repaired the gasket off camera because its not really something that happens that often. I fixed the gasket with Krazy Glue.
Okay..nice work cleaning out the carb but it sure looks like you did not replace the big o ring. Why?
I was able to repair it by using super glue.
Should carburetors get this bad even with ethanol free gas? I got a brand new Cub Cadet, used it for 1 season less than 10 times - I purposely used only ethanol free gas to prevent this. This season it won't start, I'm assuming this is the issue. Spark plug has spark. I just thought / was told this wouldn't be an issue with ethanol free gas.
Bummer. Yea, using ethanol free gas should not gum up in the carburetor. I'm interested to hear what you find is the issue.
😅
I just did this to my neighbor's snowblower and it started right up and seems to run well. After it ran for a few minutes I shut it down and tried starting it again, but it wouldn't start. My neighbor told me to choke it and I told him it wasn't necessary because it was warm now. He insisted that's the way it started and always did, so I choked it and it started fine. I turn the choke back to run and the engine runs well again. Why is this necessary to start a warm engine with the choke on? His machine is only 4 or 5 years old, but he says it's always been this way.
You're right. Seems strange that a warm engine would need choke. Honestly I always hit the primer on a warm engine once or twice to make starting it easier. These engine are set to run as lean as possible to bring down hydrocarbons.
@@thesmallenginerepairguy Yes, it is odd. Like I said it only starts on choke but runs well with the choke off. I'll try the primer bulb instead of choking next. Thanks.
Everything went smooth until i had to unclog the little black "tiny little Jet). I don't have that blue pin thing to pit in a drill, so I used a sewing needle, and it took me forever to clean it. It was like trying to puncture hardened dried tar. Nearly impossible. There must be an alternative solution. My Club Cadet Snowblower now works, Thanks to you!. So wha5 do I need to do to avoid this from happening in the future? Should I drain all of the gas through the carburetor. Sometimes, at the end of winter, I have half a 5ank of gas. That's a lot of gas to drain. What do you suggest?
I plan on making a video showing my process. Until then, check out my tips here sites.google.com/view/thesmallenginerepairguy/tips
drain the bowl, add non eyhanol to the gas after shake machine to mix, problem solved (use new gas)
@zildjian780 do you mean non ethanol? If so. Where can I buy that, and how much should I put in.
@@zildjian780 Good tip.

My brother in law bought this snow blower a few years ago. It has never started at the beginning of each season although he stores it according to the manual. The carb gets clogged every year preventing it from starting. It has no provision to spray starter fluid into it. I would stay away from this engine and model if I were you unless you don't mind getting a couple hundred dollar service bill every year.
Mistake number one never put a bowknot on with an impact
