Sadly, as organic hosts have dwindled on the Junk Planet, the _Medullar Potator_ 's numbers have been approaching extinction. However, its genetic relative, the _Quisquiliarum Potator_ (Junk Sucker) has been flourishing from the excess of old hydraulic fluid in bot carcasses.
You must study ents often...
I'm just here for the Studson comments.
Could also be that its meant to drink the pulp out of the calcified plants, bone marrow just happens to be tastier. Probably keeps fleshy explorers/colonists off the surface of the planet, hence why they'd send in robots in their place
I feel Studson is only hear to ogle your bit boxes sometimes....
@@BPCustomCreations I'm just here to see three talented makers communicate with one another.
Shoot, now I'm curious about the air balloon.
Also Bill where did you get that sketchbook and when are you doing the air balloon?
Yeah Bill, we want the air balloon already
Air ballooooon!!!!
I'm sure I seen an air 🎈 in the sketches whilst Bill was flicking through it
Yeah, air balloon!
I am an entomologist myself and Bill, I must say this is my favorite video you have done!!!!! I'm going to try this myself and hang it with my other insect frames!
I'm glad the 'study of ents' is still a thing
@@BillMakingStuff Someone's gotta do it, but I'm glad to see your support for those of us that must brave the toxic jungle.
Are you Victorian and/or into steampunk?
Love this one. I really enjoy seeing the full process from concept to finish :)
I love your content but especially when you get more experimental like this, it's fun to see you use new techniques and expand your range even if it doesn't perform great on youtube. Also please do a sketchbook tour, seeing you flip through all the cool doodles without seeing any of them clearly is like torture!
Please do a sketch book tour please
“Multiple exclamation marks,' he went on, shaking his head, 'are a sure sign of a diseased mind.”
― Sir Terry Pratchett, Eric
Although in Reaper Man he put the number at 5, not 4, so you may be safe, if barely.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....!!!
Fun and clever build, Bill! I like your bugs.
Thank you kindly
❣️“Or someone who’s into Steampunk” (Bill rolls his eyes dramatically) ❣️
"Steampunk is what happens when goth kids discover the color brown" - Ghandi, probably
Dieselpunk/landshippunk/WW1 steampunk is better than Victorian gear hat steampunk.
Biopunk & Solarpunk are cool though.
I, for one, really love that you do different types rather than just usual scratch build! This was so creative and the naming was a super awesome move! Keep outside of that box!
“Or someone who’s into steampunk 🙄” lol
Drybrushhh….
I agree, shooting glass, is definitely a pane…
Loved this so much, and look! No rust!!
Ent-ology would be really fascinating. Can you imagine some professor-type going around studying various ents, getting chased by the more prickly ones, hiding from the big scary ones, and attempting to document the little saplings who keep springing about?
Also, please do keep showing us the sketching - it's always super interesting to see where you get your amazing ideas from, and you've got a lovely style.
I love that you gave credit to your patrons that way. It's subtle and classy. It's also a great deal of fun!
I think its neat that you are showing the sketching process because it shows more about how you create. That can be inspirational to a wider range of people, but more important it's fun to watch.
This is stellar! Using Patron-generated names is genius! Also, what a fun display!
‘But that’s how getting better at stuff works’ I love this quote
My greatest achievement was finding this channel. Better not stop making these builds Bill 😤
This bug display idea is so so cool, this is something you should absolutely be proud of

I'll join if you make that air balloon - and just out of interest, where are you getting those sketchbooks from?
It takes me about 5 attempts to view your videos. I fall asleep every time- NOT because they're boring! they just chill me out so much. Love your content, always look forward to the next :)
Hi Bill. Please keep the sketches coming. Watching you draw up your concepts is one of my favourite parts of your videos. That and the comedy timing.
Those bugs turned out cool and I like that you show us how you developed them in your sketchbug.
I love seeing you flip through all the previous sketches, a sketch book tour would be wonderful!
You say you're not great at drawing but I genuinely love seeing your sketchbook flip-throughs in your videos! Also love insects so this one was delightful. 😊
I think that they look great and your sketches are lovely
This is my favourite build! My wife bought me an airbrush for Christmas, it scares the bejesus out of me at the moment!
Give it a go on some scraps, or old model kits. I have couple of old kits for testing techniques or paint schemes, and trying out new paints.
That way there's no risk of stuffing up a good model.
@@Spectral_Penguin cheers Iain, will make up a testing box. Another thing is cleaning the thing! The Crafsman is comforting, combined with some Dutch courage!
I tested my primers out on plastic pop bottles. Lots of practice opportunities. :) I’ve heard people learning to get their bearings on the airbrush doing exercises like drawing a circle on a spare bit of card or paper - than trying to fill it in (shade it) to make look more like a 3D ball (practicing control and variation).
@@AVspectre that's a great idea! Paint on plastic is the way! Cheers mate
This was maybe my favorite video of your whole channel. So many unique techniques I haven’t seen before-cutting beads in half, foam plating, texturing foam sheets with heat tools and just making armored plate fantasy bugs in general. And the results were just so good and fun and kick ass. That’s something your wife should let you display in the actual house.
I think this video is my favorite ! Especially love the potator with its wings ! Maybe because it's the one that looks the most like our earthling insects and yet is quite alien at the same time. I hope you'll make other entomology boxes !
Cool craft as always! I feel like the thing that could've made these insects stand out more is if you used multichrome pigments, there's some rlly cheap multichrome eyeshadow options...very metallic, switches from green to purple, blue to yellow, they're so cool I've seen doll repainters use them on vinyl dolls and I think you can make them stick using Mr. Super Clear, also to seal it in place. So yea Bill if ever u wanna update these bugs' design u should def go to your local beauty supply store and grab some multichrome eyeshadows.
Love the initial sketching. Great to see the process
you’re such a good artist thank you for including the sketching portion
Charity shop is an Op Shop in Australia- as in Opportunity. You seem like the kind of person who appreciates useless trivia like that.
I beg you could you please make a sketchbook tour, because a lot of people like your simplistic yet intricate and beautiful designs and colours
I loved this one so much! Bill, I love the way you tackle story telling. You create these wonderful worlds, and you bring us into them one scrap bot/mutant creature/alien bug at a time. Never stop making stuff you mad genius.
If you want to create thin score marks on soft materials like plastic packaging, just turn your X-Acto/scalpel around. The back of the tip of the blade will score the plastic/foam/wood just fine, and the blade won't cut too-deep.
Another great video, sir!
your sketching style is imperfectly perfect. i would like more in the future for sure
This is a project i've wanted to do for quite some time. This is a far more approachable way than how I was planning it. The foam for the armor bits makes those hard edges so easy. Great tips!
1. I love seeing the sketching part (by the way, you're actually fantastic at drawing)
2. I love bugs
3. I love new things (like the occasional non-terrain craft!!)
therefore I love this
Bitey Bastard is my new all-time favorite name for a bug.
You should do a sketchbook tour vid!!! Id love to see some of your pages on more detail!
We call charity shops...
Op Shops in Australia, because opportunity to get anything 😊
Also Salvation Army stores are actually called Salvos because we shorten everything 😎
This is maybe my favorite craft on the channel Bill! I'm not a maker like you, just love to see you make stuff. The editing is Fire to! Can't wait till the airbaloon!
*Casually draws amazing art*
"I'm not very good at drawing."
Such a cool idea mate ! I shall totally steal it !
I'll lend it to you
Shooting glass is a "pane". Well done.
I'm totes gonna steal that chitin technique, as soon as I saw it I could visualize the bug I wanted to make out of it.
I am a fan of your sketches as you well know. So yeah, more of that.
Science. : )
The wings are brilliant and the insects came out great overall.
Also, bonus points for a nice ending!
It was nice
I LOVE the sketching part. If you ever start selling products, a sketchbook should be the first thing!
Man, I love lil critters!
I love this one. It feels like a project I could actually do reasonably well as a beginner. Love the Latin names!
Hey Bill! Love your bugs. The BEST use of craft foam EVER!!!!
This video 🔥🔥🔥two of my favorite things in one ; entomology and scratch bashing
I ADORE this one. If I ever get time to do something for myself again, this is high on the list.
Those look incredible!! I don't even like bugs, but now I want to make something like that!
Awesome build! I love the insect wings!
Thanks Bill! This was a wonderful watch!
I do like the idea of just plan old crafts and crafting.
A very nice piece. Perfect companion to an air balloon.
Love the video. Look up wax or silicone pick up sticks for nail artists for the tiny jems. We use it in cosplay for rhinestone work to avoid damage to the gems
For a cool iridescent finish on big creatures… I’ve used a blue/green iridescent nail polish/varnish from the $shop! It is transparent and really makes things look buggy!
This is a great idea. I have to try it. The drawing part is great, too. You can learn a lot if you are learning drawing and watch other people. And because you never stop to learn drawing, it's for everyone.
But airbrushing is not painting. It's just throughing paint with the help of air on innocent miniatures or other things.
i love the sketching parts! it's fun to see
What a beautiful Video!
My favourite bug is the Mordens Bastardis, even though you didn't like him very much.
Brilliant, now l know what to give my mother in law for her next Birthday , Bill , lm sure she'll love it .... just need to make some creepy crawly bugs now !
I love these little critters so much, the display looks awesome!
Love the sketching
This was a wonderful build, Bill.
Another technique you can try with foam is to heat it using a heat gun then pressing some crinkled foil into it to get some nice textures. I hope you will do more content like this in the future because its genuinely fascinating and its like you are telling us a story.
This is such a cool project, came out better than I imagined when I saw the initial poll. Those frames are pretty fun - reminded me of Joseph Cornell, a little!
This was probably my fav project of yours. Beautiful, creative, and unique. I don’t mind more bead bots, but I watch those on 2-4x speed. This one I rewatched twice. So unique. Thanks for the inspiration.
This looks so fun, I'd love to try my hand at making something similar
Bill, you go from strength to strength with your ideas.
& don't worry if it's a weird idea, we watch you, don't we?
Definitely have to make something like this as a prop for some of the arthropod and similar species in my WIP RPG system at some point, in order to show it on a page of a book as a sketch or manipulated photo, but also to have in the background of some livestream gameplay sessions or discussion of the system and the like...
SKETCHES ARE AWESOME
I love bugs so seeing this display being made but with other-worldly bugs makes it even more interesting, gotta make one myself now. Great job !
I love the sketching, thank you for including it!
0:44 it looks like the caterpillar from metal slug game
Those bugs are looking so great. Thumbs up to you Bill. (And now I go to get some of those foam sheets, I have to try them)
Really liked this one! Love seeing you sketch at the beginning, because I enjoy your art style and seeing how to iterate on ideas.
This is the kind of thing I'd love to hang on my wall.
Best ever. Loved it. Brought a tear to my eye.
Love this build! I would love to have something fun like this in my office.
I think it's a great idea. It looks authentic. Great build. 👏👏
Great video. I’m enjoying your branching out and trying new techniques. Those foam sheets work like a champ.
Very cool, I keep meaning to build something out of all the junk I have lying around but never get around to it
Haha I just found some Krazy glue, maybe tonight I’ll finally get around to it
Hey Bill, would you ever consider running a class or workshop for constructing something like this? A list of materials required, a bit of a process, etc. I would be very interested!
I super appreciate you and your content! Thank you for being delightfully you.
This is so cool. Really like how you included the patreons. Really helps sell the believability
Freakin fantastic Bill! I’ve gotta try this!
That first bug you made looked like a 60's Cybermat from Doctor Who.
My favorite episode so far. Thanks for the relaxation Señor Bill.
This might just be my favourite video from you yet, these make AMAZING gift ideas!
Absolutely brilliant!
11:41 That bug looks like my ride cymbal
Can’t tell if I like or dislike being shown the finished product at the start.. at minimum I like the scenes of it reversing back enough that I’d rather it stay.
Love the sketches and the builds so much! Excited to see the sketchbook in future videos 💕
Love it, going to try this with my daughter!
Really enjoyed this one!
Your videos are really starting to inspire me to get creative and make some stuff 😌👍
I appreciate questions about where you get stuff are dull....
but where do you tend to pick up your beads, gemstones etc?
I feel like a few days from now I'll get a new notification for a new bill video and it's gonna be a hot air balloon
Lovey stuff, Bill - or should I say "Bill!!!" - one of your best.
