Yeah, I covered it yesterday. No DAW, or anything, just a single stereo mic hooked up on my bass drum. It’s a pretty brilliant beat. If Leto is writing these, that’s one crazy talented family! Hopefully I’ll have my interface up and running soon. Even “basement “ drummers get pro sounds these days
I don't know why people keep commenting on how the drummer's faces look on these freedrumlessons videos. It just means they are into the song and most likely concentrating pretty hard.
alot of jared Leto's drum rtrack are incredibly simple (like "From Yesterday" or "Attack" for instance).....but incredibly awesome. He just has fun. Which is aproblem alot of drumemrs have on youtube...they're too stiff. You did this song GREAT justice and you guys love what you do. Kudos.
what i can see is just someone who really love and enjoy music, and do it great. this is someone who always concern the "visual part" can ever understand
AWSOME, that drum beat at the beggining, souns VERY hard, tbh, the more i watch the vid, the easier it sounds:), awsome playing dude, and the drums, well... all i can say is...wish i could get mine sounding like that, especially the toms, Sounds awsome man, :), awsome song to
@brimbles72 If you're low on budget, get the Xs20. I have those and I totally love them. Other choice is the AAX / HHX if you have more money to spend. HHX has a combination of both high pitch and low pitch cymbals that are very musical. AAX has just bright, high pitch cymbals, but they cut somehow better (suited mainly for rock and metal). Some HHX models are for rock/metal too, though. That's why I favor them over the AAX. Bright, musical and work well in metal = imo awesome.
@lolexplode i have actually, ive been taking jazz classes for a few years and 9/8 especially has become very familiar. But thats a good strategy dude, ive actually never thought about that Appreciate that
@brimbles72 AAX are regular rock type cymbals, if you want a classic rock sound go for the AA as for me i play the HHX which is a signature mix between the two that is more expensive but so worth the money and great for the studio. Though i started out with AAX.
@brimbles72 I've just bought a Sabian XS20 cymbal set after using B8'S before. XS20''s are a lot cleaner brighter sound and a great price for a cast cymbal
@jellersick Have you tried playing 7/8 or 9/8 beats with 4/4 hihat strokes? I found it very confusing at first, but it really helped me with playing offbeat rhythms (which will occur every other beat if you play if you play what I suggested). Hell, those two signatures seem more comfortable for me now than regular 4/4, and it's a fun way to throw guitarists off at band practice. :D
Dan Ski I did this cover last night. 1st off why even mention “gay movements”? Listen how much better it sounds when using DAW, and editing.I used a single stereo mic with the defects turned off on an EAD10. I’m a horrible actor. At least this guy is trying to make the tune look hard, and “gay”, or not, he put on a show. At a gig it comes natural. Sitting in my basement, not so much
@Sup3rCWalker Are you sure? You can try to talk two hours in live programe and explain drum techniques + playing different songs on drums. This man is enjoying in every single song, he is feeling the music. Maybe he improvises a lot, but I think that Schroeder is one of the best drummers beside Jared, Dave, Cobus and other great drummers. I'm a drummer too and I will say something, never underestimate other drummers!I was not intended to offend anyone, but just to say what I think!
Ive been playing drums for 5 years now, marching band experience, starting college obtaining to obtain degrees in both percussion and music theory....YET that damn verse rythmn always gets me! Ugh off beat rythmns
Great cover! well done. I've been looking for this drumless track, any tips on where to find it? I'm going to upload a drum cover of 'The Kill' by 30 seconds to Mars tomorrow, just finished it today. I need to get my playing style dialled in and make the movements bigger. It looks much better, as you demonstrated! good job!
@brimbles72 It's probably a mixture of HHX, HH and maybe AAX, thoes are the rockier ones ;) still I'd prefer either the paistes signatures (bit expensive though ;) ) or a mixture of Zildjian K Customs (Hybrid and Dark)
Everyone who is making comments about his facial expressions has clearly never felt the song they are playing, if they even play. When you are playing a song you really feel, it's a bit hard to control what you do. It's like you lose control without messing up.
Must agree, good cover, love the little mistake :) But it's all cool :) Don't u think u should have taken a lighter sounding hi hat or this one not so open on the open parts? seemed a little off for this song :) And , this song is not so easy as it may seem :) Gjoob, keep making cover ^^
Good cover , you did a great job. You made it with your style not exactly the same, and this is good , sometimes we think that make the same notes is a good thing but for me not, the drummer have to make different from the original, that’s the point for view the art of a musician .
@esoj2706 man, don't compare. Goodness. Drummers don't put covers to get compared, but to just share their style, and them playing the songs they like. Just cuz he plays doesnt mean is a wannabe. Plus, cobus hasn't even done this song.
great cover, good stuff =) **all you dinks w/ (negative) comments on facial expressions, it's called love of the music and all good musicians show their passion**
i love drum beats...i wish i know to play...but i find it hard to control the bass,batter..and the cymbals and all that at a time...i just keep loosing tempo
One of my favorite songs to play along to. The little trading off feeling in the verses is easily one of the most fun things in the world to play!

That second chorus you did was soooo sick. I LOVE drumming to this song, and lots of 30STM songs for that reason, so awesome.
2024 still watching anyone?
i like how your drum is set up. the ride just above the toms and cymbals at eye level. i think i'd feel comfortable playing how your drum is set up.
what i can see is just someone who really love and enjoy music, and do it great. this is someone who always concern the "visual part" can ever understand
This is a perfect cover.
Props dude you are great this.
His hit hat groove on the verses blow ups my mind awesome dude!!!
1:47 hahaha awesome cover man !!
I loved the embellishments on the toms you did on the final chorus, very cool cover.
Nice Job! I love the sound of your snare.
@brimbles72 I only play Paiste Signature series now :) imo they are the best sounding cymbals...
I wonder who's this brimble72 guy you were replying to 9 years ago xD
freedrumlessons was awesome when I was growing up, and now as an adult I still use Drumeo lol Jared thank you for everything man
Awesome cover! I was head banging the entire time!
AWSOME, that drum beat at the beggining, souns VERY hard, tbh, the more i watch the vid, the easier it sounds:), awsome playing dude, and the drums, well... all i can say is...wish i could get mine sounding like that, especially the toms, Sounds awsome man, :), awsome song to
Love playing the verse of this song. It's so satisfying hahaha
Excellent playing, I can tell you really enjoyed playing to this song as well. Keep it up.
HHX hi hats my favorite! Sound great!!!!! 🎶
Great job. ..I have to learn this tunes, and you have helped me incredibly. Thanks. Thats a real cool patteren between the hhihat and bass drum
Great cover.
I love the passion that you put on your drumming :D
those linear concepts tho! that is sick!! you are one of the first youtube drummers, that plays linear... great cover!! drumeo ftw!
above all I like the way you play here in this video!!!!
the kit and the cymbals sound awesome!
Great drumming, not easy song to play, excellent timing.
I would love to know your whole drum set up it sounds great and you kick ass love that song.
that kit sounds beautiful
Great micing setup. Drums sound fantastic
very nice dude ! i learned how to play this from you !
Sort of reminds me of Jim Carrey. Great drum cover c;
Nice work and for once I have no complaints about how the snare and bass drum sound :)
@brimbles72 If you're low on budget, get the Xs20. I have those and I totally love them. Other choice is the AAX / HHX if you have more money to spend. Really great cover man! I hope one day i will get the same groove
Wow, that's the spirit, playing with energy and emotions! Great job Schroeder! You can do some RATM songs.
Nice job, great drummer!
@lolexplode i have actually, ive been taking jazz classes for a few years and 9/8 especially has become very familiar. But thats a good strategy dude, ive actually never thought about that
Appreciate that
I LOVE those hats!

ow man, absolutely amazing!
@brimbles72 I've just bought a Sabian XS20 cymbal set after using B8'S before. XS20''s are a lot cleaner brighter sound and a great price for a cast cymbal
dont laugh at him. thats a drummers soul :). great job!
@jellersick Have you tried playing 7/8 or 9/8 beats with 4/4 hihat strokes? I found it very confusing at first, but it really helped me with playing offbeat rhythms (which will occur every other beat if you play if you play what I suggested). great cover, good groove-feeling. what drumkit do you use?
What cymbals did Schroeder use in this vid? haha :D Sounds so good :) Also, loving his aggressive drumming style! \m/
SO COMPLICATED ~~ GOOD JOB DUDE :D
awesome drumming
@brimbles72
if you're on a budget xs20's are okay.. if you want real nice cymbals; get AAX's for a bright sound and HHX's for a dark sound!!
your upper body movements / face make this video great. rock on dude.
Great Drummer!!!!! Your facial expressions are very funny :D
How Do You Get The Snare To Sound So Sharp. mine Sounds Really Buzzy.
Who cares if he is gay or his movements are gay. He can jam and that is good enough for me.
Dan Ski I did this cover last night. 1st off why even mention “gay movements”? Listen how much better it sounds when using DAW, and editing.I used a single stereo mic with the defects turned off on an EAD10. I’m a horrible actor. Wtf. Jared let is gay. How does this guy "look" gay. Some drummers bash their heads some close their eyes. Some are super mechanical.
Very Good JOB!!!!!
A eso le llamo sentir la música en el alma... !!
nice cover.. also, I like your shoes :D
@Sup3rCWalker

How did you do from 3:45 to 3:49? It's so fast, the toms I mean, not the flam.
Ive been playing drums for 5 years now, marching band experience, starting college obtaining to obtain degrees in both percussion and music theory....YET that damn verse rythmn always gets me! Ugh off beat rythmns
you are amazing!
Very good job
Good Job !!
Sorry but can you name those symbals you had, apart from Crash hi-hat and ride please, thanks : )
hey could you tell me what those hi hats are?
Great cover! well done. I've been looking for this drumless track, any tips on where to find it? I'm going to upload a drum cover of 'The Kill' by 30 seconds to Mars tomorrow, just finished it today. I lol'd at his face while enjoying his skills.
i liked him best of the freedrumlessons crew

Class job..
@brimbles72 It's probably a mixture of HHX, HH and maybe AAX, thoes are the rockier ones ;)

where can i get the music sheet for this song
i woone steal ur to awesome kit!!
Everyone who is making comments about his facial expressions has clearly never felt the song they are playing, if they even play. When you are playing a song you really feel, it's a bit hard to control what you do. It's like you lose control without messing up.
Qué crack!! The best!!
Whats the silver cymbal?
Can’t find it on Drumeo 😢
Such a tricky groove
whats wrong with you. this guy is awesome whatever he looks while playing. i find this inspiring, that hi hat sound awesome, so does everything.
Well, if that's the case.. the youtube drumming community loves him.
what hi hats are those?
Must agree, good cover, love the little mistake :) But it's all cool :)
Don't u think u should have taken a lighter sounding hi hat or this one not so open on the open parts? seemed a little off for this song :)

is there a drumscore ?
@brimbles72 The studio versions are really nice too.
@brimbles72 The best Sabian series are the Xs20!
@brimbles72 if u want a cleaner sound, get the xs20's
The start reminds me remarkably much of the start of "where the streets have no name" by U2 :)
@armageddonkanobi He likes the music. You know. Some people dance and some people move like he does here.
i was crying of laughter when was playing this omg
great cover, good stuff =)
**all you dinks w/ (negative) comments on facial expressions, it's called love of the music and all good musicians show their passion**
i love drum beats...i wish i know to play...but i find it hard to control the bass,batter..and the cymbals and all that at a time...i just keep loosing tempo
