Hi, first i want to say im a new sub and totally enjoying your adventures. When i was little a grandfather of mine would pack up our dirt bikes and we would go to Quartzsite and spend 3 or 4 days on the south side of interstate 10 away from town. Grandpa showed me the very abundant mineral called limonite Cubes. What a trip finding perfectly shape Dice made from mineral. Just a little fun fact of mine i treasure to this day as all my grandparents are gone. Thankyou for sharing your awesome adventures and keeping my memories alive. Dan from Beaver, Ut.
I'm so glad I found your channel! I'm a rockhound in El Paso, Texas & all of your videos are so enjoyable, entertaining, and I appreciate all the educational info you explain to us. You ROCK! ❤️ 🙂
Great video! A woman after my own heart . I've been rockhounding with my Mom for many years, and dragged my son into it (only somewhat reluctantly). It's hard to find someone who finds rocks adorable! lol Thank you!
Careful for snakes, lol. I always get so nervous when you bend down to quickly grab something. I almost got struck yesterday. I'm on the NM side of the AZ/NM border, up on a mesa in a landlocked area of the Gila and Apache. I'm trying to learn geology and have found some really cool spots to fill my pockets with good rocks to polish. Nothing like you found here yet, but I have some good ideas where to hike to and where no one goes :)
Cool video. It's fun to see rockhounding in other areas. I'm used to hunting the Great Lakes, so I'm in the water most of the time. The desert is completely different. I also find rounded rocks, not angular rocks or crystals.
We have hunted Date Creek Crystal's for 20 years and it never ceases to produce nice quartz crystal points of all sizes, some as clear as glass to stained and milky. Usually find some nice perfectly cubed dark brown mineral that I'm thinking are pyrite pseudo maybe. One trip I found a batch of extra sparkly, small dark red crystals all along a big chunk of host rock. Still not sure what that is. And a little bit of chrysocolla too. Where was your screw driver for popping out crystals, and a bag, fanny pack or 5 gallon bucket to load up?? The west side of the road at the main crystal hill area, has crystals also. Not as much float all over the ground but we've found some very nice, clear, guy finger sized points and glass like, small points that I make earrings out of. Great video, look forward to seeing others.
My girlfriend was a big fan of yours on tiktok before she turned me on to you! I’ve been watching your UA-cam videos and am really glad she showed me your channel! I believe I found this place and will be taking her out to hopefully find some specimens for her collection! Beautiful channel, and really nice to see fellow rock nerds doing what we do! Wow! Wow! Ok so i have found these beautiful quarter size peachy/orange transparent crystals, more rounded than faceted. When holding up in the sun you can see rainbows in the inside breaks. No one has been able to identify them yet. I did have a guy take them to a sander and the orangy peach sanded off. I love that color so ill leave them raw....they would go well with a bronze wrap!
Elley here in the mountains of eastern Kentucky under a waterfall my sister has been collecting a stone that's very odd. If you hold it in your hand it's like a dark color but at night with a blacklight it glows and it's a beautiful color. And the odd part is this the only place these rocks are at is under the waterfall no where else in that creek has that rock it's only under the waterfall. What kind of rock is it and why is it only found under the waterfall??????

Tips for beginners would be to start looking at the base of the hill. If anything is in the hill it’s going to have been washed out and placed of the foot. You can look for small indicators broken or rounded crystals things like that :) indicators are one of the best things that can lead you to hiking up a hill to find where the source is :)

its no secret. Take 60 thru Wickenburg, about 20 miles on 93, take a right at date creek ranch road. There is a sign. Go up the road about a mile and a half, on the right is hill an dig area. If you pass thru a cattle guard you have gone to far. The hill is full of holes. Be careful, the dig area, per AZ land management maps appears to be BLM land. The whole surrounding area is State Trust Land. You can not dig on State Trust or even remove rocks. They can take your vehicle and there are fines possible jail time. I would bet half the tea in China that the flat area she was in at the beginning of this video is State Trust
I’m very much enjoying your content. I have always loved rocks. But I have no clue how to identify any of my finds. They are just rocks that I love. We went hunting out by Gilabend and my husband found a little red rock. Probably nothing of value as far as the market. But huge value to me. It’s shaped like a doves heart. I’ve been asking him to get it made into a pendant for me. Recently we were looking for geodes by Wickenberg but south of Wickenberg. I had no clue how to identify them. Thanks for these videos. It’s great to get exercise but buggies/ATV’s makes it so much easier.

Can you send coordinates or where you found such clear quartz? I've been there twice looking and all I've found is the really milky quartz. I love your videos! 💜
@@Hometheaterguy1 This is one thing I really don't agree with. It's a special community of like minded people who respect the land and the beauty it holds. If you can't share the info so others get to collect some special finds, there's no sharing, no love for others who love doing the same - finding pretty rocks & minerals. I have not yet pin pointed the exact area Elley is at in this video, I have a good idea abd next time we go out there, will check it out. We have our specific areas we go for our crystals out there, I'd be happy to share the exact location. The problem is that the land out there is STL, NO rockhounding legally, but.... There is one BLM tract of land out there with tons of crystals too, but they recently fenced along the main road which blocked off trails that got you close to BLM tract. Let me know if you want some more info.
Greetings! The hematite specimens were my favs in this video. Also, be advised of that rock hound from Michigan. I've heard he is very, very lapidary ;8)
Yes ,every rock hounds hope would be to have a girlfriend like Elley. After picking up rocks since I was 8 most of my female friends thought my hobby was a bit nuts . Obviously was moving in the wrong circle of people. Love Elleys enthusiasm and knowledge. Cheers from New Zealand.
You will always find 2 things and occasionally a third. 1)Crystals and crystal clusters 2)Scorpions if you move large rocks kick it first or just flip it over. 2) Rattlesnakes. Don't bother them and they won't bother you.
Second of all I'd like to tell you that maybe you should come out my way out towards Buckeye.... Where I was working at on a solar plant we found a lot of crystallized that look like tree sap. A place called saddleback mountain and surrounding areas might have a big deposit of what you like to look for. Just a little recommendation.... Happy hunting.
Where is this location in Arizona? Planning on a return trip. Also, I know a location of finding beautiful calcite and aragonite went I was out there 5 months ago.
I'm curious if this was just what was on the surface on a relatively flat plane, if you dug a few feet in the ground, what would you find? Also if quartz is connected with gold, if you brought a medal detector would you find some gold pieces? **(after watching your full video you kind of answered may question about the gold) From what you said it sounds like there are gold in that area. Would it be gold pieces or ore?
You could find gold pieces here. If you dug down several feet in the ground you could definitely scream the ground to find more crystals. As they settled they do get buried because the dirt is fine
I live 2 miles dead east of vulture city, which is about 15 miles south of wickenburg... I have found what I think is a lot of quarts but none that are ones crystal shaped.... just huge chunks... why?
Is that out by Date Creek road...was there, beautiful country, lots of quartz, left quite a bit there my partner said it would grow, don't kno how that worked out...lol
Lady of Geology can you tell me what is country rock and how did it get their? Sence, I have been on earth the adirondack has Risien 8 inches been looking into it and I will not be called grandpa of geology because I have been metal detecting 2 years but found rhyolite [? to me if it looks like it it go to be it] and looks like got they're by a volcano???
Just hiked around here for hours and didn't find a single point, just a few broken pieces. I even tried to pin point where you were by the mountains. I was close but clearly far off, no signs of other rockhounding anywhere I went. I'm not sure where the spot is, because everything I've followed online sent me to spots with zero quartz. A little more specific of an area would be great.
They all gatekeep locations. I've been trying to find someone who won't charge me for information or locations. I'm not going to take everything, and I follow the "golden rule."
I would like to go there and look for crystals I went on other side of Goodyear and found lots of the bubbly quartz, but not crystal form.I tried postings photos to show you on here but won't let me.
Would have be glad to see the bit where you got "emotional" about rock hounding Being passionate about something has different facets, it's not always the typical hype or stoked that is easily displayed Decent people respond well to true emotions, especially those that share the passion. No judgment you do you
It’s kind of a memory of me and my dad finding agates, and just the opportunities that being a geologist in a rockhound has opened up for me. I really am passionate about what I do.

@@NinaDshnI thought the same- when I got to the end and it’s blocked where like 2 houses r one low one on the hill- so I started heading back to the hwy- about half way I pulled over on a whim- and sure enough there were lil small terminated crystals. I’m assuming it’s like this along that whole road- I found lots of super small terminated and clusters (small) I also saw dog holes where I think people dug down about 12-18’’ looking for them. So ya if u go back check along that road in where it turns into sand stone- I’ll see it ground get sparkly. ( I’m talking about date creek)
@user-ke1yv4ft4i My husband and I have gone out to Date Creek for crystals for now 24 years. Yes, unfortunately way too much of that land is State Trust Land. BUT, there is one tract of BLM land that is right beside the main crystal hill. Since they put the fence up along Date Creek Rd and have blocked off any of the trails that cross STL in order to get close to the BLM tract - you have to park on the main road and walk across the STL. By all legality of it, you're supposed to buy a permit to even walk on STL. You can camp, hike, bird watch & couple other things, but you can NOT pick up one little rock!! Mind blowing and very unfair - if you aren't familiar with what the purpose of STL is for, read up on it! Has to do with making school revenue! There will NEVER be any school or anything to do with a school way out in the middle of nowhere - so why do they get to keep it in Trust??? Tax payers want to use the land today. We didn't pay attention as to where the fence actually started to see if it cut off access to a trail that is a little ways before crystal hill. Use to you could take that trail and park pretty close to the BLM tract. I don't know if the fence blocks that trail too. My husband had a stroke a couple years back and we are very limited to where we can go now. Date Creek is flat enough and we're so familiar with it that he can at least still pick up some crystals and not be far from the car - if you want to chance being STL because he can't walk from the road to the BLM tract!
@@NinaDshn There is another really good place to find crystals just laying on the ground, it's across from the main hill that's blocked off now, on the left side of Date Creek Rd. But it is also STL!! So unfair!! Typically there is no policing of STL unless some official activity is going on it. There has to be special arrangements made with a Sheriff's office usually when out in the country, for them to be on notice or to be checking people they see out there. Since the fence got put up, that tends to make us leary about some Sheriff showing up and confiscating your gear and your vehicle because you picked up a rock on STL!! I can see them now - hassle the elderly couple especially the man that can barely walk because of a stroke, barely able to bend over to pick up a rock without falling forward - yep, that's breaking news for how to treat US Citizens!!🤔🤨
@@ElleyKnowsRocks do you have the rockhounding az book? If so look up bighorn mtns area ,I think it's for selenite found there. Go to the top of that hill and look around. You'll see the main area of collection, bypass that area and head towards the next hill, the veins run through there. We found big plates and alot of chunks. Happy hunting.
I just checked a on state land rockhounding is not allowed. I have won'ted to go there .but don't want to get in trouble. The hole place looks like it is state land this place is in rock books to but it Seems to be illegal. I wish I was wrong. The state office said the fine is very large .state land is not public land. Can you send coordinates or where you found such clear quartz? I've been there twice looking and all I've found is the really milky quartz. I love your videos! 💜
If you’ve been out there you just have to keep looking. I walked for miles all over that fan :)
@@ElleyKnowsRocks good job, a true rockhound will not disclose coordinates! 🤣
Haha!!! I’m glad you liked them
damn how that would be a dream come true, to hike with a geologist who loves to explore.
Thank you
Yes ,every rock hounds hope would be to have a girlfriend like Elley. After picking up rocks since I was 8 most of my female friends thought my hobby was a bit nuts . Obviously was moving in the wrong circle of people. Love Elleys enthusiasm and knowledge. Cheers from New Zealand.
Amazing content, thank you for sharing this
You will always find 2 things and occasionally a third.
1)Crystals and crystal clusters
2)Scorpions if you move large rocks kick it first or just flip it over.
2) Rattlesnakes. Don't bother them and they won't bother you.
Cool! Maybe I can find the area. Think I may have found it but not enough details.
I love your unscripted natural real videos. In same place you may find some other crystals like chalcedony, termalion etc... All the best 👍
First of all let me say I love your channel.
Happy hunting.
love the enthusiasm !
Thank you
Where is this location in Arizona? Planning on a return trip.
Also, I know a location of finding beautiful calcite and aragonite went I was out there 5 months ago.
I'm curious if this was just what was on the surface on a relatively flat plane, if you dug a few feet in the ground, what would you find?
Also if quartz is connected with gold, if you brought a medal detector would you find some gold pieces?
**(after watching your full video you kind of answered may question about the gold)
From what you said it sounds like there are gold in that area. Would it be gold pieces or ore?
You could find gold pieces here. If you dug down several feet in the ground you could definitely scream the ground to find more crystals. As they settled they do get buried because the dirt is fine
The rocks you're finding that look like they have faces on them are Native American Effigy stones 👍
I live in Phoenix and would really like to go there can you please reach out time so I can get the location please!?
Did you find some tourmaline in matrix as well? I see striated black that seems to be it.
Any chance you are heading this way again soon? Do you have gps location digits ?
I live 2 miles dead east of vulture city, which is about 15 miles south of wickenburg...
I have found what I think is a lot of quarts but none that are ones crystal shaped.... just huge chunks... why?
Did you find any double terminators worth more than diamonds?
Is that out by Date Creek road...was there, beautiful country, lots of quartz, left quite a bit there my partner said it would grow, don't kno how that worked out...lol
Lady of Geology can you tell me what is country rock and how did it get their? Sence, I have been on earth the adirondack has Risien 8 inches been looking into it and I will not be called grandpa of geology because I have been metal detecting 2 years but found rhyolite [? to me if it looks like it it go to be it] and looks like got they're by a volcano???
nice trip , good finds, im going to arkansas i dont have a lot of crystals in my collection hope to add some , subscribed you
Have fun
I've been to a couple of the pay-to-dig mining sites in Arkansas! The crystals there are amazingly clear.
@@kali7906 ok cool we are planning to go to ron coleman and another one in the spring
You should be more specific bc people can get hurt by snakes scorpions! Maybe give street or land marks like mountains names?
I would like to go there and look for crystals I went on other side of Goodyear and found lots of the bubbly quartz, but not crystal form.I tried postings photos to show you on here but won't let me.
Look on the Earth lay lines!!
You think that place is already blown out by now?
Would have be glad to see the bit where you got "emotional" about rock hounding
Being passionate about something has different facets, it's not always the typical hype or stoked that is easily displayed
Decent people respond well to true emotions, especially those that share the passion. No judgment you do you
It’s kind of a memory of me and my dad finding agates, and just the opportunities that being a geologist in a rockhound has opened up for me. I really am passionate about what I do.
HI i am new to your channel and would love to know

I want to take my kiddos I’m sure they’ll have fun!!! Which mountain in wicker burg
no big secret She is at Crystal Hill area near date creek ranch
I was out there today and it was all state trust land with signs everywhere to keep out. How do I get to this site please?
There's a great spot just a little south of there that I've found fluorite.
Wow!!! That’s awesome!!! I have yet to find good fluorite in AZ
The source may produce some yellow metallic stuff!!!
Wow how awesome!
I would sure like to know where this location is.
Love it!!
nice finds
Awesome! Beautiful and a geologist. Keep it up.
Ironically, the wild life is closer to civilization where the food and water is. Cymbiotic.
I live in Quartzsite, near Wickenburg.
So how do you consume them
omg where is this!!!!!!
I just checked a on state land rockhounding is not allowed. I have won'ted to go there .but don't want to get in trouble. The hole place looks like it is state land this place is in rock books to but it Seems to be illegal. I wish I was wrong. The state office said the fine is very large .state land is not public land. I think they are very wrong but I will respect the law.
Which area ?
Do you do anahl?
Is that McDowell mountains
Where is this?
Can you leave your coordinates?
This vid is great but I need your nail polish!
can you help me find that place, i live in phoenix
If anyone in this world that would know what I found it would be you!! It looks like coral but not like coral????
It should all be returned for asthetic purposes, if not for your food.🎉
The rocks will find their way back to the earth. They have the patience of a stone.
Ok so I tried going there or what I thought it was it and we found like the milky white crystals
It takes a lot of walking in all directions:) but they are there
@@ElleyKnowsRocks ok at first I had a hard time finding the location but next time I go ill go do lots of walking to see if i can find ones like you did
