Instead of mentioning Zell specifically for FF8, one could just say *Limit Breaks.* Every member of Squall’s crew had some nonsense in their suite of Limits that broke the game in half.
The literal junction system was “nonsense that could break the game in half”. Limit breaks were even kind of bad if you weren’t breaking the junction system. That and the card game being able to get you end game magic basically right out the gate made the entire game as broken as you wanted it to be.
The thing is. Zell is actually strongest in Final Fantasy 8 when he is low level. Which scales other monsters you encounter down. He is the prime example of broken characters in that game.
I appreciate how you have Fina from Skies of Arcadia on this list. Her gameplay was so great that Skies of Arcadia: Legends was my most-played GameCube game. I still have something like sixty pages of notes that I wrote up and printed out myself. I also wish that unique ship battle system would get brought back in some other game. I enjoyed that, but haven't been able to find anything like it.
The big thing too about Arcane Ward in Rebirth is Yuffie can use Doppelganger. If you cast a spell with Yuffie, her Doppelganger also casts it. If she's on Arcane Ward, that means a 4x spell cast. So basically you just get that going and try and get Faith going on her and have her cast Comet and boom, no more enemy.
The combat medic in etrian odyssey brings back so many memories. The Shogun Swashbuck can attack 2 - 4 times twice and the imperial is a class literally designed to one shot bosses with BEEEEG burst damage but the humble medic will always have a place in my heart.
I found Quatre to be so busted that you didn't even need Risette's defensive capabilities; build him for crits and you don't need a healer satellite cure with a full crit build pays for itself since he can use it every turn; and it lets every other character straight up spam their s-crafts
A few RPG characters I'd like to add: Cream (Sonic Chronicles) - Give her a specific chao that prevents failing special action commands to use her skills and she's a battery for everyone else to stay on top of skill spam and HP Noa (Legend of Legaia)/Sharon (Legaia 2) - Most action gauge and that in turn leads to more attacks, including her strongest arts moves. She also tends to act first in fights. Something to double her arts use just shreds the game. And in the sequel, Sharon is like Noa essentially. Dean/Avril (Wild Arms 5) - Both are contenders cause Dean can deal 2x damage with every critical (or the stronger version, finest arts). There's something in the game that forces crits. Avril on the other hand is the best support if you have her delay enemy turns with her "double DP" passive, which can up the damage you deal the longer the chain continues. Give her the 100% Orange and she won't ever take or deal more than 100 damage (even with heals), meaning more delays as she supports further. Paper Mario (Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam) - Can just spam paper copies of him and he's not going down anytime soon, and that's assuming you even get hit by attacks since it's very possible to avoid every attack. Neptune (Hyperdimension Neptunia) - In the original version of the game, she has an easily spammable ultimate attack. The series afterword even memed on it cause it was that gamebreaking....
"Ancient Curse" I missed this on Angela when I played Trials of Mana, but I absolutely LOVE Ancient Curse on Palamena (I basically used Palamena the rest of the game once I got her in Visions of Mana lol). The only issue with it is its long cast time, but it is very strong. I reduced her cast time and MP usage as much as possible through class mastery skills and accessory skills.
srw's ideon. when fully awakened, energy is literally infinite, attack range take more than the half of the map, due to the attack is only in front of it. and aside from that, the range is also infinite. you can finished the whole game letting it attacked everyone and your mc just stay there in the background. i will say that ideon is the most powerful rpg tactical unit ever made.
Awesome seeing sailor moon another story mentioned, super underrated RPG. The only thing its missing are additional battle songs, literally every battle has the same song, even the last boss. Besides that flaw, its a pretty damn solid game
As good as Angela was in the original Super Famicon Trials of Mana, Keith's Godhand class was actually able to be unkillable while nonstop spamming class strikes. Sure he did less damage but that doesn't matter if you can't be killed.
Grandia 2 is such an amazing RPG..super fun battle system ..G2 skies of Arcadia and Evolution 1&2 were the first RPGs I ever beat in my life back in early 2000 with my sega Dreamcast.. honorable mention to beating dragon warrior and Pokémon but I don’t rly count those as rpgs
12:23 There is actually a video out there by Dani Doyle about the lords in the series (seeing which one is the straight up worst, lmao). It's super long, but here's my main point: starting from the best protagonist in the series, it is actually Sigurd. And his son, Seliph, too. Both from Genealogy of the Holy War. A cavalry class in a game where the maps have never been larger, Sigurd actually starting *promoted* in his Knight Lord class, access to Swords and Lances (the former being the best weapon type, the latter allowing Sigurd to grind a Javelin to 50 kills so it starts getting crit), and the various systems in the game allowing for Seliph to easily catch up to his father's legacy and then some. Dani describes it far more in depth than a comment like man ever truly could. Byleth isn't even the most broken Avatar Lord in the series, despite his personal skill being so valuable for your units (more exp for everyone!). That goes to Robin (female version), simply due to Veteran breaking the exp system and her having access to every class in the game allows her to become a flying mage with the Galeforce skill (which allows someone to move again after killing a foe, once per turn). Hell, Byleth isn't even the most broken lord in their game: Edelgard has a *weapon* that can allow her to Galeforce simply by using its Combat Art. To quote Marvel's Bucky in Marvel Rivals: *Again! Again! Again!* But yeah, FE actually has it's fair share of busted lords, arguably as many good ones as bad.
FE Lord rep was way worse back in the series original boom in Western space because FE6-8 all had largely mid lords Original Math, Sigurd, and Leif are all pretty good. Leif got a bad rep back then but hes always been solid in Manster and nowadays hes just considered good Theres also that one run where Leif become Edelgard on crack but we don't count that
@@screwtokaiba Yeah. I would say FE9 Ike and FE11 Marth did not help matters. Really, most lords in the early Western games kinda sucked. Only Ephraim and FE10 Ike were considered any form of good. Then the modern games took that personally.

I just started on your "Beating Every PS2 RPG" series but it looks like a handful of games aren't on your list yet. Are you planning on including Summoner 1&2, Gauntlet Legends/Dark Legacy, X-Men Legends, or Champions of Norrath 1&2?

I would contend that Trails of Mana remake's Rogue Hawkeye with the easily spammable Grumpkin is the most broken. It has much less cast time than Angela's Strongest spells and heals his MP while freeing up his abilities to increase Grumpkin's damage. Other traps or just Hawkeye's normal combo can make short work of the relatively few Wood element enemies in the game.
"Female Byleth is smoking hot while Male Byleth looks like an Idiot." That pretty much sold the circumstance to me. Also: I watched the Poppy QtPie video and DAYUM... I was able to finish "SUPER" Bosses without ANY sweat... Not only that - I solod them with Tora, since Poppy is just that freaking Broken.
For xenoblade 2 and the 3 dlc: In two torra with his last poppi, but kinda balanced by the fight you have to grind a lot to get her as strong as she can be. In the dlc of 3: Rex. I am sorry he has pretty much 0 cooldown on his arts, crits for way more damage and has a higher crit chance. While he willd draw the Aggro and will die, getting your fallen teammates up in 3 is pretty easy and his daughter even has talents to make it faster.

13:13 bunyan doesnt grant any speed stat boosts. He syphons a great deal of mana per level gain, which deis compensates, but takes away survivability in exchange. How you make ryu3 really powerful is by looking up a guide with his per/level up stat gains then manually switch him out to masters who have *penalties* to stats he isnt going to level anyway, in effect taking all the benefits with none of the penalties. I used to make a flowchart for all my characters about which levels should be apprenticed to whatever masters. Ofc since you have to physically walk back from whereever you just leveled, to the most optimal master for the next level - every time - its an ABSOLUTE pain in the ass, but thats trully how you make ryu3 a busted munchkin. And yes, leveling him as a mage sucks balls. What you want is a physical powerhouse with a large manapool to maintain dragon forms. The best use for Pico is to learn all of meryleep and ladon's signature abilities in 2-3 fights while he is level 1. Who the hell uses a tank character in bof3?? There is no way to guarantee they will be the one attacked and most damage you take is magic anyway.
Valsu might be somewhat broken in 7th Saga but Lux is also broken, he's the only hero they use in speedruns since there's an exploit that can be used to max out his stats.
Nah, she has more than enough speed that you can get two turns to an enemy's one so equipping the Ultimate War God acc on her basically is the equivalent to putting the game on easy mode.
I didnt get chance to watch all as I have to go in 2 min but for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 there was the easy setup that made everybody invincible late game which ofc totally broke it lol. Fun to mess around with though.

Lord of the rings the 3rd age, i distinctly remember one party member having "aura of thr valor" which is a permenant buff that fully revives you when you die, this could be put on her, revive fully heals mana and jumps her to the front of the priority queue ie. She never had to be without the aura ever and i distinctly remember grinding a fight where the rest of the party was dead and i just kept refreshing her infinitely till the enemy ran out of mana
Gen in Child of Light: broken. Her ability to paralyze all and knockback on the timeline makes all standard battles cakewalk, and even boss battles easier. But you were wrong about Joker being the most broken character in the Persona series. No one is more broken than the main character of the first Persona. Being that you can determine his stat boots each level...if you grind up his agility to 99, he will be pretty much guaranteed to get the first strike every turn. On level 52 you can create the persona Succubus, that is useable by him. If you grind that person up she will get magic wall, making all magic attacks invalid. Take that persona on him into battle with the last boss and you have nothing to worry about. If you even push him up to level 76 you can get the persona Borax that has glass wall. Now you can just cast it every other turn and nothing will hurt you ever again. In fact, since it reflects all attacks for three turns, you can just defend your way to victory with all characters.
Another broken rpg character list, another video I watch without Pamela from Mana Khemia being named. Good list with some very obscure names on it, but I still have yet to find a single one mentioning her lmao
only thing that threw me off was saying horn drill one shots "nearly" every pokemon. there is no nearly, anything it can hit, it auto knocks out. same with fissure which in gen 1 it can learn via tm to take down ghosts
Isn’t the whole game about getting your characters to do stupid amount of damages that might even have the numbers fly off the screen though? Is there even a cap to your stats in that game? So yeah, when everyone can be broken, is there even a balanced character to begin with to have a character be broken among them?
Hm, no Flik from Suikoden 2? While you could transfer save data to make him and Viktor even more strong, if you don't, by default, he still starts at level 20 when everyone is like 4-5 and is just strong regardless.
Honestly Humphrey would be a better choice if you’re counting the import buffs. You can give him some of the best armor in the game and there’s a sequence break in S2 that lets you get him several hours earlier. And that’s also assuming you don’t get a character that randomly starts at lvl 99. S2 is busted lol
male Byleth really does look like an idiot lol. there's that one anime cutscene at the end of VW where he looks almost impossibly hot tbh but it just makes him look stupider the rest of the time because he apparently COULD have looked like that the entire time!
Seth>> marcus. Seth is like on steroid for U-17 league football given how easy FE8. I don't agree for byleth being broken. Excellent unit sure but the one that straight up broken is male Kris FE12 and Palla. The reason lunatic reverse mode in FE12 is duable because of Male Kris and Palla. Another broken unit is Caeda in FE11. Fliers with stupidly good prf weapon. Effective bonus against horses and armor just busted in FE11. Two other candidates are Wolf and Sedgar as armor knight because they can cap the defense with their insane growth.

17:29-17:33 or just equip her with an accessory (I forget it's name) that allows all additions by the user to be automatically performed.
She needs the dancer shoes to maximize her damage, it makes her speed
Nah, she has more than enough speed that you can get two turns to an enemy's one so equipping the Ultimate War God acc on her basically is the equivalent to putting the game on easy mode.
13:21 me:bowser what you doing here
Needs more Karen and Ayano (Luminous Arc 2) and Raquel Applegate of the infinite turns (Wild Arms 4).
In turn based strategy there is a game called Spectral souls 2, there are 2 or 1 post game character that can finish it named shiro and wage. 😁
14:56 "BUSTed" characters... I see what you did there.
I didnt get chance to watch all as I have to go in 2 min but for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 there was the easy setup that made everybody invincible late game which ofc totally broke it lol. Fun to mess around with though.
Tressa fans unite, YAYIFICATION OF THE WORLD!
>Brings up broken FE characters
>Doesn't bring up Haar or Seth
Or even the recruit chars from Sacred Stones. Ewan is easily a gamebreaker in that one for sure.
Well done video. You should have broken this up into 5 parts or something to get more videos out of it. This must have been a lot of work.
@@WanderingMendicant-qd7mv haha this is a compilation of 7 vids. Glad to know I knitted them together seamlessly. Check out my other content while you’re hrre!
@@locloudanerpg well I may not have noticed because I skipped over the examples I wasn't familiar with.
thank you!!
Idrial is the GOAT
3rd age had some absolutely busted abilities, like the very last party member getting a stupidly efficient life and AP drain spell.
Sick
I’ve never played Child of Light. I’ll look into it!
Awesome!
Valsu elixir spell is only great if your partner is a one of the other mages. Melee fighters aren’t as effective in late game
Fun fact about Valsu, if you have to fight him and you're at a high level, it's unwinnable because the AI will spam that spell.
Kiryu better be in here cause wtf lmao
Haschel is the most broken in TLOD
Speed High and Easy Last Addition, High Damage and Dragoon skills broken
I'd say he's tied in that case with Meru. A late game party including both of them basically means most fights are a cakewalk.
Another broken rpg character list, another video I watch without Pamela from Mana Khemia being named. Good list with some very obscure names on it, but I still have yet to find a single one mentioning her lmao
Haha I got you
Sprigg from Chrono Cross is super broken.
Any chance for a gamelist here?
Now this is content
Stop it. You say that to all the girls.
only thing that threw me off was saying horn drill one shots "nearly" every pokemon. there is no nearly, anything it can hit, it auto knocks out. same with fissure which in gen 1 it can learn via tm to take down ghosts
Saga Frontier II's Gustav and Vandal Heart's Ash want to talk to you.
Zylo Shining Force and Peter Shining Force 2
Zylo was strong, but he wasnt Bleu
Im 100%sure without seen the video that TG cid from Fftactics is here in top 3
Talking about Cold Steel, but not mentioning Laura, capable of one shot every single enemy in Cold Steel II
Isnt she an Sword Bearer?
The Cold Steel harem party just wins the game. Rean, Fie, Laura, Emma.
marcus and not seth?
FF8. Use Aura on Quistis. Her Blue Magic (Limit Bresk) Black Hole kills most foes.
Degenerator
Orlandu/Orlandeau?
not a single disgaea character...wow.
Who is specifically busted in Disgaea, when everyone can be busted? With the exception of maybe Sage?
No Georg Prime or Pesmerga?
15:13 what game is this?
@@JonnyWaffel Trails through Daybreak
Thundergod cid is my busted all time character made a grindy game not grindy.
I hope next year you will dive into SaGa games 😊
yo wtf is that game where the green haired girl lost the top part of the clothes at 0:17
Wouldn't *you* like to know
I kind of guessed it was a Monolith Soft game, and it was. Super Robot Taisen, the one on the DS.
@@ng6635 lol yeah like why would the casting/action requires the destruction of her top
@@aketsuuu thank you
Super Robot Wars OG Saga Endless Frontier.
Kaguya
Lets gooo 🎉
Save yourself some time.. These are all JRPGs.. the word "broken" has no meaning here
